Finally going to get back to Minnesota after spending most of the last 2.5 years out in Michigan. Looking forward to getting in some Mississippi River walleye fishing in.

I have caught a few that were close and one that I could not measure that had to be real close if not over. They are out there; but I agree with Joe that the numbers are down currently.

The Ukrainian people who have been protesting and brought about the downfall of the government last week aren’t going to roll over for the Russians. They know what they are fighting for and they will protest the Russians too. It may turn into a bloodbath; but there is no way they are going to lie down and give up, IMHO.

Pool 2 open and people slaying them would make being back in Williston that much harder to take. Hopefully be back for a few days this March!

I have not been out that way for a while; but what the guys are saying sounds right to me. If you can spend some time in the south unit of Teddy Roosevelt. Not sure how open it will be this time of the year.

I know what we do on Pool 2 if we can get out that time of the year. Not sure if it applies elsewhere. Deep dragging or vertical during daylight hours, wingdams and shallow dragging runs in lowlight/dark. Whoops! Just noticed this is ice fishing forum. Don’t know what anybody does through the ice.

I’d rather be chasing walleyes on the river.

I will take credit for the weather improvement. Drew and I went to Cabellas last night and bought some new raingear.

If some of you are on the fence about fishing this tourney I would urge you to give it a try. This is very casual, lots of good food and good company after, chance to learn a little more about the Pool 2 bite, and the odds of winning at the very least a good prize are real good. See you there!

Just a heads up. Even though it is almost October you can still get quite sunburned. Today I am almost as red-faced as somebody who voted for Obama twice!
