I second on the wahoo valley bar just north of staples. Great food ,dureing deer season you can shake some dice for a rifle. That bar is were i have seen the biggest deer of my life. When you see a 261 lb deer get weighed in and loose to a 160.5 lb deer because he wasnt in the contest. Been comping up there for 26 years now and it never gets old. Would like to go dureing the summer and try their tubing down the river

It mite be a little. But the steering is much easier than hooking it to the main motor and useing the steering wheel. My cousin and I both have 19 ft alum. And 9.9 kickers and his with the straight tiller is much easier to maneuver. And we fish on very rocky lakes were mine is fixed if he hits a rock it can pop up. Were mine goes bye bye. But longer the Handel it mite be more comfortable when running it. Hope this helps you out.

We will be up there the same time . The walleyes shud be done with there transitional time by then. If you cant find em around the fox islands, there are a ton of other humps and bumps around the fox islands. Your presentations you spoke of will work.
As for pressure I don’t usually see any more pressure by the island than any other hump .
But I agree with Wayne be the first in there and it will help your odds. Or get to mark your spot.

Thanks for the response. I guess we have to focus on the mn side of the boarder. And just to add I dont believe in the whole number of people who they say died off covet or got it at some place. I was at a wrestling tourney in Sioux Falls SD. The news said 16 kids got it and they called it a explosion. But what they didnt say was there were prolly 20000 to 30000 people there, no masks and they all got it 2 weeks later after they all went home had Easter and 2 weeks of school. I’m just saying why are they pushing to try and shut everything down again who gets to gain from this?

I enjoyed reading all of your posts. I agree with all of your tips. My wife and I have had the privledge to fish with Ben Gilbertson from rainy daze guide service. I love all the stories everybody shared. My wife and I are hopefully planing to be up at least three times this summer. Hope to see some of you guys on the water or at one of the great bars on the lake.
But what I have learned is every season is different with temps, the depth of the lake and the wind. And that every now and then big storm. It will really make a different time as to when the walleye go from shallow to deep. All in all all the presentations you talked about will be great and will work just fine. I will be doing the same. But get or talk to guide to let you know where they are hanging out. It’s worth your time or money. Good luck hope to see you up there.

Don’t forget about Sven & ones out of grand Marais. Not deep crust but just right. Then a little secret basilleos in Faribault. Thin crust, lots of cheese great sauce! That’s my 2 cents.

I hope you do great. Were coming up the 27th. You will be in atimr that it is hard to say. They will be in the shallows. But they will also be on the humps. Trust your graphs. If you markem on the humps less than 28ft get em! If not check those rocky shorelines. This is usually a transition period. Play it out because they dont all go to the same hump or leave at the same time.great luck to all.

I have 2 helix 9 on the council and another on the bow. I’m not sure about the switch you are talking about. You will need a five port Ethernet. poop i forgot what they call it. But you will need it. Any switches should be in the units its self.

Our family cabin is on a island and for the last ten years i have been trying to find the best way to preserve bait. Last year I bought an Engel cooler with aerator. It is hands down the best. Add a few ice cubes every day and good to go. I have tried the chemicals that are supposed to hold more air or put more air in the water. They didnt compare to the eagle cooler system.

We marked fish in numbers almost every were we went just the wrong weekend. We even had shiners, leeches, crawlers, and chubs. Talked to a guy at the dock and like always fishin was awesome 2 days ago.but despite the bad fishin. Had a blast hangin out with friends brothers and cousins! Maybe had a few shastas and a drinky or six. It is always a great time at rainy. Wish it was a longer trip.thanks to all for the tips. The fish were at every tip we got . Was are fault not to capitaliz on it. Stupid weather

I agree and disagree. I like to go to the shows. But they just about always mark up prices to make you think your getting a deal when they say 10 percent off.
And buying used? It might be a year old but how used is it? A lot of resorts sell there augers every year for cheap. That have a lot more use than you think. Gota be careful.

If you are staying by sha sha then dont over look black bay. Trolling crank baits around islands.

I have only fished north of there on the Canadian side. But it looks the same start shallow and work your way out deeper. Jigs and a minnow. Some like chubs or rainbows but I think the shiner is king. Greens or blues are my go to colors. Hope this helps. I’m just very jealous that im not going to rainy. Good luck hope you hit it right!

It may also be a good idea to get a pleasure craft Opperator card. Don’t know if they check for this but it is a required card in all providences. It’s not hard to get. Takes about 3-4 hours of video and a test. I actually learned a lot. It is a competency test to show you can operate a boat. If i can remember any thing over 16 ft it is required. Please help me out if im wrong.

Black bay is a good choice. My step dad rarely leaves it. And out fishes me most of the time. If you got kids your best bet is trolling cranks. Purples blues and chrome rattling raps have been the best the past few years. Fire tiger is also a go to. Just get in around the islands east of lynx island. If you have lakemasterchip use it get tight around structure. But be careful when your tight rocks can come out of now were. Hope you get into some hogs. Black bay is kinda like its own different lake but has some big eyes in there.

I’m gonna be up there that same weekend. And the trick is to find out wat depth the biting fish are. Main lake humps with bottom bouncers and spinners. Cover ground unless you find the mother load. Then use jigs. Crack a beer if your not catching in that beer move on don’t get stuck fishing that same place because you caught a fish or someone said it’s a good spot. Rainy is a huge lake and the fish are there just find em!

I would really like to see you back on rainy lake summer or winter. Walleyes or crappies.
