Oh man, didn’t even realize that! The regs are on my night stand. I guess I never thought I would even be targeting muskie this late. Eyes it is, which ended up being my plan A. And muskie being B.

Thanks for the info tresz84. I was actually eyeing that spot. Couple of questions, what fow were ya in? Lookin for shallow water, suspecting that pike will be shallow getting ready for the spawn. The inlet you speak of are you referring to the inlet to lost creek? Any bait stores that sell suckers or large shiners? And is it plausible to make it to deer island from the MN side, lake city straight west? Gabriel, I assume you mean open water, since you are suggesting spinner baits. Are these waters continuous seasons for pike and bass too? I have heard of great back waters in that area and near Winona and have been looking for some good suggestions. Sorry for all the questions, just green to that area.

Also thinkin of hitting up red wing pool 4 on the way back for an evening bite. Open and ice in the same day! Wondering if there are any shore opportunities in that area, not sure if we can haul boat and ice gear

Went up this weekend and did pretty good. First night we fished gull on the north east side right outside of bay colony. We only caught one eye that night. I was with a big group and we had a huge spread. We varied from 15-40fow the eye was caught in 30fow. The next day we fished Roy. We went to the second point and fished the by the grass. We set our tip UPS in 12-16fow with suckers, two feet off the bottom. There were mix of predator rigs, zero rigs, circle hooks and sure set trebles. The flags were popping all day! Lots of bass and pike. Biggest pike was close 28″. Biggest bass 5lber. We had the houses set up in 18fow. Right around 4:00pm the crappie turned on. We caught a couple of nice gills, but once the crappie turn on it was fast and furious. Most the crappie were suspended. Some up to 13fow. Then a couple of schools came through right on the bottom. Getting them on both dead sticks and jigging. Jigging with a vmc flash champ spoon, and a buddy was using a Swedish pimple, tipping with a minnow head or tails.

How were you guys able to locate these cribs on the lake? I have a cabin on Tabor lake north of Danbury, WI and think that there may be cribs in the lake (I’m new to the lake)

I could not get the link to work for a map, and I don’t know how to screenshot the map to paste it here (new tablet), but if you go to lake finder and check out Holland lake, in Dakota county there is a map, species list and stocking report. It says that they have stocked rainbows but they are not on the species list. Thanks for the advice guys I’ll try them out.

Thanks guys, hopefully I’ll be eating some cold water Cajun catfish. Another question if anyone could answer is, night bite good for ice cats, I know I do pretty well during open water at night for cats, I assume the same during the winter.

There was a story on the news (forget what channel) today about thin ice conditions, and they did a rescue demonstration in the story that I think took place during the warm weekend. They are recommending not to venture out yet, but I’m sure there is safe ice in some places. Don’t make unnecessary risks that will endanger you and/or others. Bring your spud and your spikes. On that note has anyone heard any ice conditions in Hennepin, Dakota, or Scott county, I’m itching to get on some safe ice!
