I just got back. I was at Ash Rapids out of Kenora. Mapping doesn’t cover the Shoal Lake area yet. I heard that area was going to mapped by airplane this summer. Lake levels are still VERY high.

I too have a Terrova. I’ve ordered the 360 with a “universal “ mount that works independently from the trolling motor. I’d love to tell you how well it works but I’m still waiting for it. Ordered it before New Years.

I’ve heard complaints regarding fit, and visibility. A few about exhaust coming in while under way. I’m really ready to pull the trigger on this before ice out.

Thanks for the info. I’m 6’06 so headroom is an issue. Maybe I will go with the Alumacraft cover. Again, Thanks

Just got back from Rainy on Saturday. Already planning a return. Stayed at Thunderbird. Cabin 5. Needs updating. I’ll leave it at that. Very steep, rocky, rutted path to the dock. Very friendly staff. Fishing was tough for all. Guide or not. I’m not a bait fisherman. Caught 19 fish in two days. Northerns, and Smallmouth. Two nice ones. One of each. We will try a different lodge next time. Oh. It’s easy to find yourself in Canada if you’re not really paying close attention. Just sayin’.

I grew up near the Chesapeake Bay. I hear you and thank you for the advice/warning. We fish smallmouth/northerns mostly. I want to get on a few Walleyes. Wish us luck.

We’re going up in a few days. Our first time to Rainy. Looking at the map it appears that from Thunderbird to Brule narrows is about a 15-18 mile run? Is that about right?

Possibly, because they have moved fewer units they need maintain a certain margin of profit. Also materials have gone way up. Just like lumber. It all gets passed on to us.

Thanks a bunch Tom. I really appreciate you answering. Now I feel better about dropping the money for a card I may only use two, or three times a years. I know how easy it can be to wreck a prop, or motor up there.

Thanks for you reply Joe. I am looking for an educational trip in addition to a day catching fish. We live a little more than an hour from the bay. I’ve spent a lot of time reading and searching for info. I’m ready to put it all together. Again, thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the reply James. You think water temps are up? We’re still in the 40’s on the Lac du Flambeau chain.

I have two mounted on the transom of my boat. One on each side. One is for my Humminbird Mega side/down, the other is Lowrance. No troubles.

I live in Vilas County. I too stay off the water for the opener, and summer holiday weekends. I’ve seen too many things over the years.

On the “breaks” ? Depth breaks? if so, what depth? or break walls as we called them out east.

Yes. Fishing for Smallies. I see, hear, and read about 18″ averages. I’m now retired, and only 1 1/2 hrs from there.

Thanks for the honest level headed input. I’m new on this site. Had a choice between Suzuki 3 cyl. or the Rude. I’ve done alot of research. I’ve seen no reason to go with the Evinrude.

Thanks. Interesting point. Four strokes have twice the moving parts, and require much more maintenance. I hate helping family and friends with the maintenance on their four strokes. That’s why I started looking at Evinrude.
