What about when you use non-oxy gas? Does anyone recommend useing a fuel treatment? I haven’t been but I did use marine grade sta-bil when I use to fill up with 87.

4 1/2 inches

Well for me I don’t want it mounted on the floor.
If you don’t want it mounted to the floor how are you thinking about mounting it up on the bow?
Here’s a few pictures I snapped of the 1198 and 958 mounted on my stabil mounts. I measured the distance from the floor to the top of the mount with the electronics disconnected. It measured 4 1/2 inches. So if you have 4 1/2 inches to spare from your floor to your cover your golden.
1198 mounted
1198 disconnected
958 connected958 disconnected
If you have any questions just reply here. I like how easy the stabil mounts disconnect but at the same time they are rock solid.
March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am #1046899I mounted my 1198 and 958 on stabil mounts. I couldn’t be happier with them. Why don’t you think one will work on the bow? Every ram I have owned moves over time. Even the 2.25 ball over time will wear and start moving.

I used stabil mounts to mount my 958 and 1198 on my new boat. Couldn’t be happier!!

What are trying to accomplish in your video? I would think you need to be in the water for things to function properly?
I can’t believe people post information when they have no idea why they are talking about! That is why I quit posting on this site!
Humminbird will set you up with what ever you need to get rid of any interference you have. Have you tried a trolling motor choke? What about a pc-11? How about ferrite rings? How about changing the 3amp fuse under the trolling motor head? There are plenty of things to try to get rid of interference. Are you batteries hooked up to an on-board charger?

Change it to what?
Just replace it with another 3 amp fuse.

For the most extreme cases of interference, there is a add on electrical choke called a TMC1 for the power cord to the trolling motor. Use this, in conjunction with a PC11 power cord to the depth finder.
In the past, Humminbird has supplied the TMC1 at no charge.
If you look in one of the pictures in the post metioned above you can see this installed. They also sent me 2 ferrite rings. One for the power cable and one for the transducer.

I would check that and try a pc-11 power cable before I ripped apart my trolling motor.
On my 1198 and 958 I used a pc- 11. Both received interference from my terrova. Another thing to check is the 3 amp fuse under the head of your terrova. Even if it’s not blown I would still change it. That’s what humminbird told me.
January 15, 2012 at 3:15 am #1028020So its really easy. Prolly a half hour project.
Disconnect power to trolling motor.
First take the cover off of the head of the trolling motor
Next you will see where you can disconnect the power. Disconnect the red and black cables.
Then take this screw out.
After that you will need to pull the head up off of the shaft. The head will not be completely disconnected. If I remember there is a brown wire and a white (maybe) wire that won’t get disconnected.
When that is done engage your trolling motor and slide the shaft out of the base. You will need someone to help hold the lower unit when you put the transducer cable through the hole.
Next just slide the shaft back on and reinstall everything back together.
Should look something like this.
I left the U.S.2 installed just as a back up so you will see both wires in this picture. Left is U.S.2, right wire is from the standard transducer.
January 15, 2012 at 2:13 am #1028009Yep sucks doesn’t it. I’m not sure if its all units but I had the same thing on my old boat (Was a 788). Another thing is to make sure you trolling motor power cables are not running near your humminbird power cable or transducer cable. I had to make sure of this because on my flat bottom I was running all of the wires under the floor. Didn’t seem to help moving them for me but something to look at. Hook it up and test it before you install it just to make sure it clears up your problem.
January 15, 2012 at 1:58 am #1027997Just interference. You don need to run it out side the shaft. I took the head unit off and pulled the shaft through the base. Then you can run the cable in the groove of the shaft. Just use some epoxy to hold the cable to the shaft. Sure its not exactly what you wanted to hear.
January 15, 2012 at 1:39 am #1027992Yep just went through that with my 958 and terrova. Call humminbird and have them send you a new transducer. You will need to bypass your us2. Should work.
October 19, 2011 at 3:26 pm #1002570Yep my 2008 did it over 10 times. Two different dealers couldn’t figure it out so I sold it. Spent over $2000 trying to find the problem.
July 16, 2011 at 3:12 am #981341Thank you guys for all the birthday wishes!! Did not have a chance to get on the water today but I will be tomorrow after work.

The ECS68MXF is a great all-around rod. You can jig fish it with mono & it still has enough balls for hard line. I have an avid & an eyecon in that configuration. You can’t go wrong.

I have a 6’6″ xtreme, 6’9″ xtreme, and a 6’8″ eyecon. The eyecon is my go to for pitching. I also have a 6’3″ loomis but I could never see myself pitching with it. For me it’s 6’8″ or more for pitching.

Bill
The 2 bigger ones in the second picture were released. The picture in the cleaning shack is deceiving. The one that he is holding with his left hand was a large male. The one in his right hand was about a 17 inch sauger.
March 7, 2011 at 3:04 pm #944728I used it last year to pre fish for the FYB. We sold it soon after that. Theres no question in my mind that its is still running to this day.
March 7, 2011 at 1:20 am #944625I use to fish out of a 1973 lund. I think you have seen that boat at everts a new times.
March 5, 2011 at 12:31 am #944192Just pull up the simulator mode. Then you will be able to see the data on the lakemaster chip.
