There’s nothing blocking the right side – but the screen over the livewell pump in-take is very close to the bottom of the transducer on the left but that side does not have any interference?????

    Thanks Cedarcreek,
I’m the guy who lives in the culdesac right by your house – I talked with you the other day while walking my daughter in the wagon. Anyway, I wasn’t able to zoom the sonar when I was playing with it the other day. I had the sonar side selected as the active side but when I tried to zoom, it didn’t and a got an audible signal that was different from the signal I got when the action was successful.

I was able to zoom the sonar in “sonar/sonar zoom” view however. ??.

I do have the pucks for my lowrance units but I don’t want to install four receivers on my boat. I’ve always used Lowrance units – two on the console, one on the bow and one at the stern. I’d network them together so I only needed one gps receiver installed. I’d like to switch to a Humminbird on the console for SI and would like to use that unit as my talker for the same reason. I might end up installing an additional (Humminbird) receiver and only network the Lowrance units.

One more question trytoofish – where did you pick up the signal from the Humminbird? I see a GPS out on the back panel of the 1197 and a nmea out cable coming out of the gps receiver – a extra line out.

Thanks Trytoofish. My plan is to use the humminbird on my console as primary navagation GPS but continue to use my exisiting lowrance units on the bow and stern when pole in hand fishing – slow speeds. What are your thoughts on that being an issue with the communication speeds you experienced?

I think I found a website that answers my question although I’d still like to hear from someone who’s done it. Here’s a good article for nmea 0183 information. web page
