Chippewa Flowage, Lac Courte Orielles, Big Sis, hopefully one of them produces some bucket mouths!

Below the dam in Eau Claire, close to the city garages, on the east shore is one spot you could try.
I always see quite a few people fishing the confluence of the Eau Claire River and Chip at Phoenix Park, you could try there.
Another decent spot would be right below Altoona dam.
Not sure what type of fish you’re targeting but, you’ll get a plethora of species in any of these spots… Welcome to IDO!June 22, 2013 at 1:04 am #1179351Dipped in egg and rolled in crushed Cool Ranch Doritos as fine as possible…
Did this because I was out of Flour and didn’t have any Shore Lunch, Corn Flakes, or bread crumbs!
I was pleasantly surprised and have done it a few times since.April 11, 2013 at 10:11 am #1161500I would advise you to plan on taking the trip another day. We have ice storm warnings for the areas just to the south of Eau Claire all the way to Tomah! As you are ware, I-94 passes directly through this area of warning. Make the right decision and stay off the roads, rather than put yours and your wifes lives at risk…
December 17, 2012 at 7:38 pm #1121280Just like anything else with or without power steering, once you have it, you’ll never go back! Power steering is nice for plowing and/or long trail rides, whether or not it’s needed for icefishing, that’s up to you… If you have the funds available then definitely go with it; you will not be disappointed!!!
December 14, 2012 at 4:13 pm #1120409Picked up a Lowrance Endura Safari off of ebay not too long ago, haven’t had any issues with it and love the fact it fits neatly in my pocket. It uses the micro sd cards from Navionics which I believe they’re not making anymore so, they can be hard to find. Other than that, I have no other experience with any other hand held units. It’s probably best to talk with an “expert” at Cabelas, Gander, etc. Good luck in your search!
September 21, 2012 at 6:51 pm #1100286I have two children with bilateral cochlear implants. They were born with Auditory Neuropathy Disynchrony and implanted at 10 months and 24 months of age. Today they are 6 and 3 and are ahead of their peers in speech and language. It’s truly amazing what technology can do! My wife and I would gladly answer any questions you may have. PM me for contact info…
September 17, 2012 at 7:09 pm #1099324Talk to the folks at Anglers All in Ashland WI, they’ll be more then glad to answer any questions you may have on fishing the Chequamegon Bay area
June 29, 2012 at 11:50 am #1079813Old Country Buffet at the corner of Clairemont Ave and London Rd. I haven’t been there in years so I can’t tell you how the food is or how they’re priced but, I thought I’d throw it out there…
June 6, 2012 at 2:22 pm #1074045I always bring my birth certificate as well as my passport. I have never been questioned but, just in case there’s ever a problem, I have my bases covered.
On another note, If you’ve fished Abram Lake and Lake Minnitaki previous years; your normal fishing spots will probably not produce as well this year as in the past. The ice went out VERY early this year so, areas like The Donut, English River Reserve, Rice River Reserve, etc are pointless. The fish have moved out of these areas into the larger portions of the lakes. I was advised by Northern Sunrise Outfitters that an early September trip up would be a better option than June this year. Thought you should know… Either way, it’s still a tremendous fishery and you will catch fish, just not in the normal springtime haunts. Have fun, stay safe, and please, if you would, fill the rest of us in on your findings…
ThanksFebruary 20, 2012 at 2:21 pm #1040843I’ll be fishing in the Mellen area that weekend, if you want some inland action I’ll be on English Lake Saturday and there is a contest on Lake Gallilee on Sunday… Good Luck and stay safe on the Bay if that is where you intend on going. Definitely stop in Anglers All before you go!
August 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm #988630I’ve got a 90HP 2-stroke and love it! Would like to upgrade to a 4-stroke at some point to gain some fuel economy but, money talks and the old ball and chain seems to think otherwise ! I’m not one for speed but with 3 guys and gear I’ll top out at 40 mph…
August 15, 2011 at 8:17 pm #988102I have a 17′ Explorer single counsel and wish I had an 18′ dual or larger. I generally fish with 1 other person but with 3, it gets tight. Remember that each person fishing typically wants to use their gear, so that takes up alot of space as well. Plus, the passenger(s) have nothing to hide behind when it gets a little ugly out there with the single. Good luck in your search and welcome to IDO!
July 7, 2011 at 7:12 pm #979051Try the Phillips chain of lakes for panfish, Solberg, Sioux, Musser, Long, Wilson. You could also try the Flambeau Flowage for panfish… Also Gordon Lake north of Glidden is a fantastic Musky lake. If you want to drive a little further north there are plenty of lakes around Mellen to try, English Lake (Walleye & Crappies), Mineral Lake (Musky & Walleye), Potter Lake (panfish & Musky), Lake Galilee (Northern, Bass, Panfish), Caroline Lake (BIG Pike and Perch), plus a multitude of others… Hope this helps!
March 29, 2010 at 1:15 am #858211Thanks Wade, makes sense! I don’t believe I have power to the puck itself! Can I connect the power for the puck to the same wire connection that powers the unit? Or does it need its own fused connection?
March 27, 2010 at 7:00 pm #857841Here are two pics of the ones I have in my boat, currently not being used for anything. I would like to pick up a couple of more but, still at odds with the price of ’em… Red Lab is correct about the tracking system, again a great idea but, you pay the price if you didn’t get enough with the boat originally!
March 27, 2010 at 6:00 pm #857826Here’s a pic . They mount on the sides of the boat so you’re not dilling holes in the actual boat itself. You mount your accessories to these instead, not a bad idea but, 30 bucks a piece, come on!
March 3, 2010 at 3:54 pm #848565That’ll be fine, I’ll be there in a 17′ jon with a 25hp and have always done just fine. I’ll be fishing the evening bite though… Good Luck!
March 2, 2010 at 1:59 pm #848001The past 4 years I’ve always brought 3 – 10 gallon containers of fuel and have never been subject to pay duty. We were pulled aside and inspected going through the border twice and were never questioned about it… I guess my advice is to either say nothing or declare the amount of fuel you may have at the border and go from there…
January 31, 2010 at 9:51 pm #838237I’ll be on pool 4 Friday, then sippin coffee with Jason on Saturday at the open house. Gonna be a great weekend!
January 28, 2010 at 2:53 pm #837346I tried Gulp jumbo leeches last spring on the English River system in Ontario vs. live leeches with mixed results. Live leeches worked best for me but also had some luck with the Gulp… It seemed that trolling with the Gulp seemed effective during the slow fish feeding periods of the day and pitching with live leeches during dusk/dawn periods provided excellent results. I’d say try it with any and every fishing strategy; you never know what may happen and could create a quality strategy of your own…
January 25, 2010 at 6:19 pm #836143We’re not hearing much from the Vikes fans today! Must be a sad day for you guys… Great season with a typical Favre finale! There’s always next year and I have a hinkering that #4 will be back hungrier than ever! Enjoy the Pro Bowl Brett, that is, if you decide to play! It may be too painful for him to show his face…
