There is a guy on here that runs a camp ground toward Ottertail, any one know who I’m talking about and could lead me to him ?
Are you talking about Trevor at Vacationland Resort on Ottertail?

Hey Sheldon, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Enjoy an extra cocktail tonight. I will have one or two tonight in recognition of your special day. Now that it’s warming up we need to get you and Sparkles up here for the (HSC) local pizza.
I’m watching for a deal on NOCO Boost jump starter for vehicles and boat.
Those look sweet. I wish I could get one but I have never liked pullovers of any kind so I know I will hardly wear it.
Suzuki, I’m kind of with the same attitude towards pullovers. I’ve been wanting to get something to utilize for spring / fall fishing in the boat and ice fishing. I’ve been looking at Striker items and also Blackfish items. I’ve been on the lookout for the storm skin gale jacket. It seems that only Blackfish pullovers are in the store. The other day I was in Bass Pro in Altoona IA. They had both Blackfish pullovers and Striker Renegade pullovers plus other clothing. I was able to try both products on. The thing that I liked about Striker was that the pullover had a zipper on the left side and a zipper on the front that makes it easier to put on and take off. When I saw the price on Strikers web site, I felt I had to give it a try. I ordered it this morning and it’s supposed to be here tomorrow
Taking a very spur of the moment trip next week to the Ozarks and staying in Linn Creek, on the water, which is near the Camdenton area.
We’ll have a boat but I’ve never fished the area or have any clue about the lake if anyone has any tips on where to start or structure, depth or areas to look for?
thanks for any help you can provide.
Wondering if you made it down to LOZ? If so, how was the fishing?
A lot of the people fishing are finding success trolling with Bandit 300 crankbaits. Obviously other brands of crankbaits are used, but the bandits are a lure of choice. I question if you are staying in the Libbey Cove area. I’m sure Linn Creek is very close. We’ve been there several times over the last few years. We’ve had success fishing off the dock and also trolling. We’re quicker to target spring and late summer/fall.
Sheryl, So glad to hear your continued improvement. Wishing both you and Sheldon the best. You might just have to stay in Minnesota a little longer. I’m thinking therapy for both of you on the water is in order when you’re ready. I will plan to stop by the shop further down the road to check in on you guys.
Love my climate suit. I first got the coat. The next year I got the bibs. I’ve had these going on either 3 or 4 years. Always looking for the “Deal”. I like the idea that it is two suits in one. Climate has liners for both the coat and bibs. I’ve never had to use the liners when ice fishing.
Our going rate to pay a guy with his own truck is $70 hour for a straight blade and $75 hour with a 9’+ V plow, and I would agree with others that to plow your own driveway a half ton will work with a light duty plow. Keep in mind a plow on a half ton voids your warranty. I bought an extended warranty for a 3/4 ton, and the insurance company that carried the warranty voided the warranty because it had a plow. I had to talk to several people at the dealer that sold the warranty to me explaining that they had sold me a worthless warranty on a new truck for $2700 that they knew I was installing a plow on. They did refund my money so that does say a lot about them being a reputable trustworthy dealer, and because of that I will continue to buy trucks from them.

When you bought your new truck did it have the factory snow plow prep package?
My wife and I was just there last November. Had a great time. She had been planning this for a while and the trip was cancelled once or twice due to conflicts. We stayed in both Calistoga and Napa. We preferred Calistoga. Lots of choices for wineries. We also went down the coast, definitely worth seeing. Also saw Muir woods.
Another member commented about Washington. We’ve been in the Seattle area in the past and toured wineries, but was just at Walla Walla a few weeks ago and it was very picturesque and great wine and dining.
Rather than typing in our itneniary if you would like, feel free to send a pm with a phone number and we can fill you in on what we did, My wife is the travel authority.
Thanks for the feedback. From what research I have done it appears that Chevy and assumingly GMC are the only 1/2 tons that plow manufacturers have a V-plow for. Both Ford and Ram are rated for straight blade.
I will continue looking. The way the new truck market is, I’m not real optimistic in finding a deal this fall. I’ve always liked a challenge.
Absolutely some of the best. Simple, clean humor. Loved that show.
I have slowly been changing out incandescent 200 and 300 watts bulbs out of my garage. I’ve switched to GT-Lite 5000 Lumen LED. 300 watt equivalent only using 50 watts. I’ve had some installed now for approximately 1 1/2 yrs. No problems so far. I’ve been getting them at Menards. I’ve recently noticed there is a newer version of this light that is coned shape. It states that it puts out more lumens than the style I have now and uses less watts. Plan to pick up a couple. My garage is heated so the super cold temps are not an issue. I plan to use these same lights in my steel building that is not insulated or heated. I have family that has been using the original GT-Lite 5000 in their semi-truck storage buildings that are not heated. Sounds like overall the extreme cold hasn’t had much of an affect on them. Just talked with one of the nephews recently and he said also that the lights have been in over a year or better. They are on alot, and are just starting to see some partial failures in some bulbs.
reese,
I just gave your number to my son. He’s interested in the 12″
Hey Sheldon,
Congratulations on the milestone. Your business and talents are definitely something needed for this area. I will try and stop in during the next weeks. Probably will be drilling some holes not far from the shop. Merry Christmas to you and your family and Happy 2021. We’ll hope for the best.
Sheldon,
After just watching the local and national news its looking like I will probably be meeting you later than I thought. This virus situation sure does change the way we will be doing things. Everyone stay safe and healthy.
Looks great Sheldon. Congrats on the business. Our area can really use a local marine service. Ironically I went through Kellogg last week and I wondered if that was your new shop. I hope to be down fishing and social distancing in the area the next few weeks. I will make a point some time in the next few weeks to stop and meet you in person.
lindyrig79,
I had a 16ft jon, double deep & double wide with a 40hp outboard with power trim and tilt for several years. I really enjoyed the boat for hunting. It had a detachable blind. I used the boat for both hunting and fishing. During fishing time I hung the blind in the rafters of an out building. I bought the rig used. I had planned on rebuilding the blind. After getting caught in a snow storm, that expedited the rebuild during the off season. I would be more than happy to talk with you on the phone and explain some of the modifications that I did. Send me your phone number and we can talk if your’re interested.
Thanks guys for your feedback. I totally concur with Grouse on the fact when multiple dealers have never sold any, it makes you wonder why? That’s why I had to throw it out here. Thought maybe someone would have had one or knew of somebody. Aside the fact that the system may be considered pricey. One of the dealers I spoke with is in a very rural setting and his feelings were that most of the people he sold UTV’s to were farmers and already had their tractors and attachments. In my case, my lane is only approx. 130′ to the top as opposed to some lanes that can be several hundred feet or longer. Obviously a simple solution would be to pour concrete or lay blacktop. I’m just thinking for less money than pavement I can get a UTV to be used for a few tasks. Trying to figure out what all it can be used for.
Thanks again.
Just received reply from Striker. They said the Climate without the liner warmth rating would be about a 5.
I also have been looking at purchasing a striker jacket. I prefer to layer. I have seen all four models. I was wondering how the climate jacket without the liner would compare in warmth to the predator. I’ve sent a E-mail to striker, but have not heard back yet. I did look at the guardian, but seemed like some of the pockets were different than other model. Might have to re-look. I just thought possibly the predator could be too warm on mild days.
Thanks again guys for your information and tips. We will need to check calendars and see what might work.
Sounds good, will have to see if we can go and check it out.
Thanks.
Glad you had a great trip. I have never fished up there. I was there once on business for a few hours. Got the 50 cent land tour along the river. Pretty neat. Keep thinking I need to make the trip. How big is Denny’s boat. I’ve recently been thinking about upgrading my boat. Trying to decide on if and what size to upgrade to. Seeing some of the posts on here about the NW Angle intrigues me.
Thanks for all of the replies. Obviously one size does not fit all. My original thought on replacing tires on a half ton truck would be to use better riding tires. Some people I’ve spoken to like the 10 ply tires for the stronger sidewall construction. They feel it might reduce the chance of stalks or sticks punctureing the tire in an off road situation. Thanks again.
To the users of the Hankook Dyna-pro ATM. Generally it seems most comments speak of the good traction on ice and snow. How are they in mud? The reason for my question is that I have two pickups. My old 3/4 ton super duty has Cooper AT 3’s. When they were new, they performed poorly in the mud. However as far as performance in ice and snow they were and have been great. I’m probably 10,000 miles out in replacing tires on my F-150. So I’m always interested in seeing reviews on tires.
Thanks.
To the users of the Hankook Dynapro’s, do the tires perform well in the mud? I have two pickups. The 3/4 ton super duty has Cooper AT 3’s. I’ve had them now for a couple of years. When they were brand new, they performed very poorly in the mud. I plow snow with the truck and they worked great on snow and ice.
