June 12, 2009 at 9:37 am #783532Hi, I have done alot of speed trolling around the Detroit Lakes area in Minnesota. Buck Perry came up with the idea years ago and was using what they called Spoon Plugs. I tried these lures and the Northerns and Walleyes went crazy after them. The depth I had the most luck at was around 16 feet of water. Speed Trolling takes a bit to get used to, but once you do and find the strike zone, it can be very productive. We would catch fish at any time of the day, but it seemed the more cloudy days produced bigger fish.
