A 55 would work on that size rig most of the time but stepping up to a 80 would be better for high flow or windy days or fishing long days.

A 12v system doesn’t have the juice for even low flow.

I ran one for a decade on the Mississippi on a similar size boat. If that is what you have you absolutely can make it work. If I was buying new I definitely would not go with a 12v.

Hey bearcat, what broadheads do you use for turkeys? Now that my son is 18 he said if he can’t get his bird during his allowed gun season he may use his bow.

I shoot montec g5s for both deer and turkey. I thought about getting the big blades and going for a decapitation, but I’ve had nothing but luck with the g5s.
I don’t trust expendables on turkeys simply due to the fact they take alot of energy to get a pass through. And the g5 is my all around broad head of choice.

I won’t shoot expendables for deer but always do with turkeys. I have never had a pass thru but also never had one run off. The guy that sold me on using big expandable broadheads claims on a bad shot it makes it much harder for them to run off or fly off with your arrow still in them.

Full draw what motor are you running? I looked into doing the same last year and after digging into why mercury doesn’t recommend using lithium for a cranking battery on their motors under 150. I decided it was not worth the risk for the weight savings for me.

Just a FYI Mercury’s service bulletin actually states you can run Lithium on all engines 75-600HP. However they do give specific specs the battery needs to comply with.

It has been awhile since I had looked but either way my 60hp merc is still a no.

I see the stopped allowing people to use a rabc. Is this going to end up like covid when everyone had to stay on the U.S. side?

Made it out today and yesterday. Yesterday did well. I believe we ended at 17 eyes in about 4 hours. Good average size. Over half of them were above 20”. Biggest being a chunky 24 followed up by another 24. Lots of people.

Tonight, seems either and or both the pressure and maybe mood of the fish was negative. Super slow. Ended up empty handed. First time in a while I’ve had that happen to me. Have people seen pressure blow all the fish out of areas before? Or maybe other factors I’m sure. Just crazy how the bite shut off for us at least completely. Maybe I’m missing something.

Some of the shallow spots we fish definitely get blown out with pressure.
I fished a area I had to myself most of the day today and you could tell the fish were on the move. Pods of fish I would mark on one pass would be gone on the next. Not sure what I had on the clicker at the end of the night but it should of been in the low 20’s. I did find a 28 for my 2nd to.last fish.

I have had two of the piscifun alotz400 reels I use for sturgeon and musky for the last 2 seasons. At $129 they are hard to beat.

If you already have the 6500 I’d use them if you are buying I would go a different direction.

I was surprised when the 14″ bar on the chainsaw wouldn’t cut all the way threw near shore.

I usually trout fish a few times a winter. Some days they really like a horizontal jig vs spoon. I usually start with a small crappie/bluegill size spoon with a few waxies and change it up if they don’t commit.

I keep looking at new or newer trucks wanting to replace my 12 ram 2500. I keep going back and forth between another ram or going back to Chevrolet. I do plan on going to a 3500 and gas again.

Do the 3/4 tons have coil springs too?

On the rams 2500 yes. They suck for truck campers.

December was good to us but ended the season without firing a shot. We did see one while in the truck but decided it had a free pass tell next season. The numbers definitely were down some in aitkin county where I hunt the most but still a good number of birds. We had alot of days with 3 birds apiece. Not many limits for us this year.

That is pretty respectable I would think.

I am happy with it since it sat at the ups drop point for 5 of the days.

Talk to the Sheriff and/or a lawyer. Good chance you will need both.

I just stopped at every lawyer in town and none of them deal with evictions and none had anyone to refer me too.

Just got up to 248. With it dry in the swamps this year it will likely be slow like the last few.

This weekend was definitely a bust over all for us also. Friday I saw 10 on a short walk before dark but they were flushing way out. I had multiple birds get up 100 yards out.

If you are not in a hurry they have them on sale frequently on axil website. I went with the corded ones with the hopes if they fall out while in the water I won’t lose them.

We hit the north shore last weekend in the wind and managed to find birds both days but definitely not like most years.

I just picked up a Stevens 555 28ga for a new grouse gun. It has been doing a great job on the grouse so far.

The guys that I knew that were up last week had the same report as you read. They ran north 2 days before fishing the south end. They had much better fishing south.

If it was me I’d take my walks in the morning and fish in the afternoon. Once you start figuring out some decent trails or areas you are in a great area for good numbers of birds.
