That area will tear up a lower unit very fast if you are not careful. There are also rock bars, sand bars, dead heads, sunken logs and massive mud flats. Once you get above the platte river I would be very cautious. What kind of boat do you plan on using? It all depends on water levels and flow. what species do you plan on chasing?

Do you mean “The Whip”? I think they are made in Chippewa Falls Wis. Try icefishing.com maybe this will help.

I have the drill set up was just looking at a gas auger for those late winter days. If you get 40 holes through 16″ of ice I will buy you a case of beer. There is no way on a single charge especially with a clam head. I’ve had them on a 5 inch lazer and a 6 inch nils head. If I get 30 I would be lucky. I don’t have a shack so keeping the batteries warm is not an option. Please gas auger comments only!!!!

They had some barriers up in Prairie du chien also. We just moved them and went on with our business.

I’ve had it in both elbows and I got cortisone shots in each. Its worked for me and I throw bass baits all summer. I haven’t had a problem since. I tried all the wraps and therapy stuff and it just didn’t help. Insurance covered it so I don’t really know expensive it is.

BK I havent checked lately but you may be right. I have hundreds of gill pills, diamond jigs and slender spoons. I have caught tons of fish on them. I was just trying to give some differant options on jigs that have been around for 10 years or more. I tried to give some options and opinions on tungsten jigs 3 years ago and just got blasted!!!!! Now that custom jigs and spins has them now it seems like they found gold on the moon. I understand sponsership so I apologize if I offended anybody. Dan

A buddy at work went last night and is going tonite. He said the ramp was wide open but he said getting to the Illinois side was a little tricky. He said he had 2 nice saugers and a handful of other missed hits. I will talk to him tomorrow and get the heads up. Feel free to pm me and I’ll try to get back to you. Dan

Congrats that quite the upgrade. I went from a 16′ ranger cherokee with a 115 evinrude to a 19′ champion with a 225 pro xs on it. I couldn’t be happier and hopefully you are also.

The powell 735 frog and toad is my go to rod. I have 2 of them and just love them. I also like the powell endurance 725, they have a little softer tip. I’m not a big fan of throwing frogs on the 765 especially if you plan on doing it all day. Its just a bit too long and heavy. I will use the 765 only in super slop. The 735 and 725 double as great flippin rods in the spring. The 725 is also great for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Dan

The other way around I’m sorry. The shimano chronarch is lighter than the pflueger. I can cast my chronarch a mile but they have comparable cast control and braking systems. I have 2 chronarchs, 4 curados and 2 ceticas so I guess I must be a shimano fan. How much does the Summit run?

I have 200e7 and I like them alot. They have 7.3 to 1 gear ratio and work great for swimjigs or any bait you want to fish fast. They are super smooth on the cast and effortless on the retrieve. I assume the e6 is 6.3 to 1? As for the comparison to the pflueger I really cant say. I have a pfl president and they are way lighter and fit much better in your hand. Dan

I do agree the hook up ratio never dropped. Maybe your on to something? I was looking at trying a beaded treble hook. Just a little twist.

I used bait one time last year and I get out alot!!!! I mainly use jumbo wedgees from little atom baits or the whip. I have every color and every style. I also like the nuggie tail on a moon glow jig. I use the wedgees on a fiskas or gold tungsten horizontal jig. I had a friend who said he used 120 waxies one weekend. Using plastics is alot easier than digging in your bait tin or puck all the time. You just reposition the plastic after you catch a fish. When its too beat up to use anymore put on a new one. I would say you can catch easily 20 fish per tail. Hopefully this helps, Dan

My unit is 4 years old with the original battery. I have never ran out of juice after an all dayer. I have even forgot to plug mine in after an outing and was skeptical on long it would last. Even though the battery meter read 10% it never missed a beat. Even when out fishing check the meter every once in awhile to see what it reads then turn it off and read it. They are usual pretty far apart. Hopefully this helps, Dan

What is NASA developing a rod to fish on the moon? I also ordered one from Thorne Bros. in early november. I have to agree on how and why they wouldn’t have a ton of blanks in stock. I ordered one because of the great reviews and hype surrounding this rod. Hopefully I get it before the end of ice season. I just wish they would of sent me an e-mail telling me what the delay was instead of reading it on here.

I agree with you, Bret. Later in the year I usually down size to a 3mm fiskas either with 1 spike or more than not plastics. Don’t be afarid to upsize either. There have been days when the only bites you get are on big rembrandts or purists. My rational is when they are lethargic and only feed once a day why not go big. I guess 9 times out of 10 though I will put a smaller jig on when the bite gets tough. Also I will go with an array of plastics at that time. Feel free to pm me if anybody wants some secrets . Dan
