Technology causing controversy, nothing new. I don’t own it (yet), kind of like surprises when I am on the water. Bed fishing in MN for bass has quietly always been taboo, down south (erm… Lake Fork) not so much. I think if you put them back they’ll be fine, but I am not a biologist. Not sure what is up with Aaron, looks like a woman ran him through the gauntlet, damaged goods, been there, done that.

Not sure anyone is gonna give 2 rips on ya chummin carp w some corn.
Biggest carp I’ve seen were definitely in lakes. Medicine has some huge ones in the north shallow bay. Calhoun and Harriet monsters as well. Wouldn’t travel north just to fish carp.
Would rather drive to the Artic Circle than anywhere in or around Minneapolis.
April 16, 2024 at 9:04 pm #2267713I think they were chumming corn and using a hair rig. It is now illegal to chum in MN so you don’t see any new shows on it. There also was one by anglers edge on Minnetonka where the used night crawlers. I used to fish carp alot till the law change on chum. Most carp techniques utilize chum with corn or boilles.
MwalSeem to recall the chumming now as well, they even gave a whole kernal feed corn brine recipe. Thank you for jogging the old gray mass!
April 16, 2024 at 9:01 pm #2267711Have no brands to recommend, but when I am eyeing up rods in the store, turn it upside down and push on it against the floor, look at the flex and taper. Do that before you go with the rods you have, it will help you judge beyond what any given rod is rated for. Medium Heavy has become an enigma in the rod world, look at the OZ rating, with braid who cares about the line. You have to feel the bend, imagine the cast, and setting the hook on your target species, before you choose.

August 23, 2023 at 10:49 pm #2220497Dissect all of the structure on the lake, learn it without needing to look at your graph, depending on the time of year fish it in the best manner/highest percentage presentation, every trip if you find a hot fish (WPT it) go back and visit him/her about every hour on the hour, be sure to hit the same spot you laid a WPT on at least 1-3 times every future trip, develop a line of of WPTs, finally every time you go fish, fish only the spots you developed that had fish on most of the time (keep a log if you can’t remember) and go N/E/W/S from there to see what else is there that you may have missed, take a shot in the dark on secondary stuff if you see nothing on any given trip of your known spots, last resort. Wash, rinse, repeat. Baits are made to catch fisherman, not fish. Bucktail (shallow (most of the time)), rubber (always), cranks… (depends), top water is nothing but heartbreak, don’t waste an active fish on a top water, EXCEPT when the water cools in September and the fish come in to the shallows.
