Welcome back Dan. Still anxiously awaiting ice. I’m hoping to try foster and silver. Last year was my first time so I don’t have a lot of data for you.

Any particular color, size, brand of brush hog you use Brad? Do you let brush hog lures drag on the bottom as you reel it in?

Awesome. Thanks for the info chirp. Am I looking for spawning pools for bass on chesterwoods or just free casting in the up coming spring season? Just picked up my annual pass so I plan on fishing there as often as I can. Mainly for panfish fish to keep the little guy occupied.

Is thereally easy access to the zumbro river below the damn for shoreline fishing?

I love my otter xth. Holds up in the wind and keeps us warm. I purchased the insulated one. But I don’t think it can sleep three people

I was out for a walk at Chester yesterday. All slush. Wonder if there is any ice up north?

I really enjoy Chester woods, but I’m only catching bluegills. Some decent ones 9 1/2+. Same depth about 24 feet. Can’t catch a crappie to save my life. I tried minnows and no luck.

I had 18 inches at Chester woods last weekend. But, that was before the rain. Like Tom mentioned, shore lines are thin.

I’m heading out to Chester as well tomorrow with the kid. I take the far parking lot. If you see an otter, that may be us.

My mind was blown away few posts ago crappie haha. Indeed, lots of options, but this is one reason why I love this site: lots of input and advice by the experieneed fishmen

Thanks for pointing that out bull cans. I appreciate all the feedback. I’ll take a look at the Eggers. Thanks for the sock recommendation biggill. Those liners are key too.

GM does sell minnows in Rochester but they had an incident where their entire batch died last week. Hopefully they’ve restocked by now.

SCR has been very crowded lately. To the point of not being able to park. Chesterwoods is a great place as is silver creek. To be honest I recommend Chester for big pan fish, but if you want a chance at pike go to scr. If you do go to scr go early

That was certainly the case last year when we attended, with the exception of the fish hehe. A great way to support the community as well. Just wish it wasn’t competitive.

Thanks for the post trev. I went out to Chester woods on Sunday. We were there from about 1:30 to 4:00. Lots of smaller bluegills early on but later in the day we were getting 9″+. Also, accidently caught a smallmouth. First bass I’ve ever caught in my life. We also had 9inches of ice.

Yes, finally Tom. We did nothing but catch and release. And I don’t care what anybody says; it’s more fun when you catch something.
