Hey guys, I just wanted to throw some kudos out to Dave over at North Country Canvas in Robinsdale. He is a one-man shop so I had to get on the waiting list but it was really worth it. I am always commenting how it seems that nobody takes pride in their workmanship anymore but Dave has given me new hope. I have a fiberglass boat and decided to do a snap cover with the snaps under the rubrail. It turned out awesome and his workmanship was clearly evident. Wherever there needed to be reinforcement he added it. Wherever soft fabric underlayment needed to be, it’s there. Support poles, vents, etc, all at no extra charge. We decided on a new material from Marchem called Top Notch. It’s similiar to their Top Gun fabric with the benefit of the color being solution dyed as opposed to acrylic coated polyester. Which means it should wear like a polyester but have the color retention of an acrylic (Sunbrella). If you are considering canvas and in the metro area, you should definately give him a call.

    WB5,
My family and I will also be on the lake beginning this Saturday. It’s our annual trip for a week-long stay over at Stony Point. Last year’s trip was perfect weather but not a huge success story on the fishing front. Lots of boating time just not much with reel in hand. Good luck out there – maybe we’ll see you out there and can share some success stories. I’ll be in a burgandy colored Triton with an Opti.

Great info. I sincerely appreciate the heads up on the lake layout. I am fairly new to the fishing scene, at least with my own boat, and my wife would kill me if I bang up the boat, or worse, the family. I do have the LM chip at the helm and a NAV chip in the front. I’ll be sure and take it easy out there. Glenn, thanks again for the fishing info….. It is appreciated!

    Hi Glenn,

Given your post history in the Clearwater folder, I’ll deem you as the resident expert. I live in St. Michael, which is not too far but have never fished Clearwater before. What type of species are prevelant? Also looking to bring my boy out for some panfishing here. Could you share some good “starter” locations? Thanks, in advance, for any feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Cory

Thanks Wade. That certainly makes sense, but when I go to the overlay data screen, I don’t see the other head unit to add data from. Also, when I go into the network setup, it allows you to name each device, but that does not seem to commit to memory since it defaults when I power cycle it. I have flashed both units to the 1.8 version. Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone for their valued opinions. I will definately give the 4′ a try. Like mentioned above, I would like the antenna to be able to lie down in the front deck area. Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the feedback. Jon, in regard to the previous posts, do you have any transmit issues? I would guess on Erie an 8′ is a must. But, my lowly 18′ vessel will probably not see anything bigger than Mille. I was thinking with a 4′ I would still have the option of someone up front and still be able to lift the line over if need be. Any other thoughts on this?

    Thanks.
