What ever happened to Russo being done covering the wild?? That was short lived.

The garmin alpha is insane. I bought the gen 3 for this season for my setter – it’s her second season. It has too many features really but the point alerts and gps tracking features are awesome.

I highly recommend if you’ve considered one.

Started walking at 9am this morning in a combination of public and private in WC MN. Got our 6 birds in two spots. We left plenty of smart roosters too which was nice to see. We did not see many hens until the end of spot two when a huge group of them popcorned at the end of the cattails. Luckily there was one rooster with all those hens – it was pretty chaotic for a minute or two.

On the drive there this morning we saw a bunch of single roosters out and about feeding so were pretty confident going into the day.

Even in the snow and freezing rain the birds were moving. Had great dog work and shot pretty well too. Great morning.

Possible that it was a land acquisition that got ‘lost’ or forgotten about and never given a designation.

I agree with others though, if the state owns it I’d hunt it.

5 degrees to start the morning, got up to about 10. Saw dozens of birds feeding on the edges before I got to my first spot.

Walked two shorter pieces, didn’t get to walk my favorite sneaky spot because someone was there…

Flushed a dozen or so hens that held nicely and one wily rooster that didn’t give us a chance. Dog was pretty covered in snow and ice so quit around noon. Hindsight I should have started around noon and hunted in the afternoon. Snow is sure a blessing and a curse this time of year.

Sounds like great conditions there!! They sure get smart this time of year.

Not sure I’ll get out this weekend. Highs in the single digits with some pretty intense winds. Maybe head out in the afternoon and walk some smaller, quicker stuff.

Got my two last Saturday again. Had an incredible flush of roosters right at my feet to end the morning. Until that flush had only seen a few hens and one rooster (got him). Must be grouping up already with the snow.

Not sure I’ll get out this weekend with highs in the single digits. Maybe a couple small walks. We’ll see.

My setter doesn’t like cattails much, she likes to look for cover and circles down wind of it, it’s fun to watch. She loves the open prairie grasses. Might make a trip to Iowa in a couple weekends to get to some warmer temps and rolling grassland.

50??? For a full grown lab??? Yeahhhh that is not a problem. Realistically if they have something soft to sleep on they’d probs prefer it to be much cooler than that even.

Carbon monoxide is a bigger concern in a garage than temps.

On the goaltender interference call near the end of the second… the closest of the two officials didn’t even call it.

Then this most recent high sticking on Hartman. Brutal.

Do we not have better/other names to call up this year? Does Iowa have some injuries right now as well? Or is the thought really just get more names some time with the big dogs in case we’re in a similar situation later this season again?

Should not impact us. Will still be able to boat across and fish with proper licenses, just still can’t touch land, anchor, etc.

Other note, if my jig can be dragging on the bottom, why can I not anchor???? Drives me nuts and asked the Ontario COs last spring. They didn’t seem to care nor even know that was a rule for us and told me to ask the border patrol guys.

I’ve been starting wonder if refs are just not making close calls at the blue line anymore because they’d rather be wrong and a goal reversed than be wrong with the whistle and the play actually be onside resulting in a blown offensive entrance. The nhl does want more goals…

Curious what everyone shoots at roosters?

I am a pretty big believer in 2 3/4” copper plated 6s. Usually I carry a 20ga but will take the 12 pretty much all of December – that’s when I break out the 3” 4s as my last few shots.

WPAs get blackcloud 4s all season.

3 of us got our 6 yesterday. Lots of points for the dog and plenty of birds flushing wild. We saw a pile, numbers are definitely solid in that area.

Same thing happened last year, whatever is talked about here is likely to happen within a couple games.

I am hearing and seeing similar pheasant numbers to last year. Now that most crops are out I’ve been able to give a decent eval. Mayyyyybe slightly lower numbers but minimal imo.

Lotta sports happening these days so the World Series often gets overlooked unfortunately.

Tough to ‘cheer’ for either of these big money teams but I want nothing more than to see the Yankees get dusted. Walk off grand slam in game 1 was wild. First ever walk off grand slam in the World Series is hard to believe.

I know they don’t ask how, they ask how many but I just don’t like that he’s going to beat the record like this. He’ll keep playing as long as he needs to just to break it with empty netters. Not a fan of that mentality personally.
