Hello, don’t mean to hi jack the thread, but I just picked up a lithium shuttle/m3 combo and after I charge the battery and the green light on the charger comes on, the shuttle read out only shows 86-87%. Haven’t contacted marcum yet. Thought it was interesting that your bird showed the same %. Anyone else have an issue with a brand new shuttle? Thanks

I knew I’d get some replies, but didn’t think this many. It is not flush mounted. I know I have to work with them and they will hopefully take care of me, but in my mind I shouldn’t have to deal with any of this after spending $650 dollars on the unit. Seems to me that if the problems are documented, they should have to exchange all of them for 522’s if the customer wishes at the store where it was purchased. This sending the unit back and forth is non-sense. I timed it so that I would not be with out for either ice fishing nor summer fishing. I guess that planning was a waste of time. I tried to call today but the line was busy. It’s just a pain and I wanted to rant.

I have a 70 suzuki and I think it will idle down to 500-600. Mine’s counsol so I don’t back troll, so I don’t know what that would equate to in mph. Any way, I love the motor. Over 300 hrs with no problems

I am not a big fan of the cabelas in Rogers. I went there last spring looking for worm jigs and of course they didn’t have them, but the employee said “yeah, we need to get some of those” so I stopped in later in summer when I was passing by and guess what, they still didn’t have any. If you’re looking for any crankbait ever made, or lead head jigs, go to cabelas in Rogers. Otherwise, you might want to check elsewhere. But let’s face it, no store can carry everything all of us want at any given time, so get what you can at local stores and find the rest on the web.
    just my 2 cents

100:1 seems awfully lean, so I called strike master this morning. I was told that since tucumsa(sp) has a 1 yr waranty and says to us 24:1 I should continue doing that for a year. Then they recomended switching to 50:1 and that should take care of it.

if I remeber right, the soft re-boot (holding down the pages buttons) does not erase the waypoints..the hard rebood will. Unfortunatly it doesn’t matter for because when I sent mine in to get fixed, I didn’t think of save mine to an SD card

anyway, I agree…good idea for a backup, but I love the universal sonar

I recently sold my Jiffy legend 8 inch and bought a lazer mag 8 inch. I was really happy with the jiffy, and never thought I’d switch, but it got to be too heavy. I couldn’t be happier with strike master. I didn’t think anything could as fast as the jiffy, but I stand corrected.

I was lucky enough to wait until the sales at the end of the year when I bought a trap pro, but my dad wasn’t so lucky…picked up a lazer mag 2000 a couple days before the price dropped another 50 or 75 bucks. Live and learn I guess.

I used the stuff in the red package…I think it’s the elite. 8 lb and I liked it. I also picked up some of the braid this winter and am looking forward to rippin’ some lips with it this summer. I never saw the ice line…does it come in 2 lb test? I’d like to give it a try if it does.

interesting…I even bought the more expensive 9 amp one that they said would have a longer run time. I guess I’ll be buying another one

thanks for the info Scott…when I got the new battery, I plugged it in and it flashed until it got to 100. How long should that last me? I was out on the pond on sunday and it ran all the way to 0 in about 6 hours. It started to flicker on off, and when I turned it off the battery life said 0%. Luckily I had brought a back up.

I don’t mean to piggy back on some one elses post, but I think I may have an issue with the charger on my lx3. I was having to turn the gain up like I did when I had the bad transducer, but I borrowed my brothers transducer and it was the same. I figured before sending it in I’d try a new battery and it worked great…the only thing is, after a couple of hours of fishing, it said there was only 20% charge left (when turned off). Has anyone else had any problems with the charger on the lx3s? By the way, the new battery was a 9 amp vs a 7 amp. Would there be any problems charging that type of battery?

I had one of the bad ones, and I think they sent me the new one and asked that I mail the bad one back once I got it.

I just skimed the rest of these responses, but I have 16.5 alumacraft navigator with a 70 hp Susiki (both 2001), and I couldn’t be happier with the motor(or boat). I change the oil once in mid summer and then I change the oil and filter before putting away for the winter. The etech comercial is a joke….although I’d love to have one on the back of a ranger if I could afford it . what ever you get, follow the manual and you’ll be fine. I’ve had several people say that they didn’t know my outboard was running at the dock until they heard it “clunk” into gear. I love the turn key and go of my susuki. also, my dad went on a fishing trip in B.C. and they were runing twin susuki 70’s, and the guide said they log over 9000 hrs on one before it needed to be replace. by the way, I get about 34 mph (gps) on my boat and the it seems to pretty easy on the gas.

I have to have the rod in my right (strong) hand. Doesn’t matter if the reel is above or below. I could not fight the fish with the rod in my left hand. I always buy “left” handed baitcasters, but in my mind, I am fighting the fish with my strong hand. At least now more an more reels are coming out with left hand retrieve.

just as side note, last weekend we used my dad’s mr heater…I think it’s like a cooker one, but it can use 1 lb cans of propane. It worked very well, and I was suprised how long the 1 lber seemed to last.

I have to agree about the size of the bit. I have a jiffy 3 hp, and it came with a 10 inch bit, but I replaced it with an 8. It’s still plenty big to fish and have your transducer in the hole at the same time. It also makes it a little lighter as well as cutting faster.

if it gets nice like it’s supposed to, do you think it’d be worth trying over Thanksgiving, or is it too late? I’d love to try to get some perch. I just tried to fish on Minnetonka, and all the channels I checked were frozen.

I had one bust on me about a month ago but have not gotten around to sending it back. What do I need to? Just ship it with a $20 check made out to them? Do I need to explain how it broke? Should I send a copy of the receipt?

I think I’ll just have to look at buying some softer action rods for trolling and make sure I don’t have the drag too tight.

I’m always worried about those joining knots and their strength. Do you have any recommendations for softer trolling rods? I don’t want to spend a ton of money, but I see that Cabelas has one called e glass that is only 20$. Has anyone used them? Maybe I’d be better off spooling up with some 8 lb mono instead? I’m kind of new to the trolling deal, and have never tried mono. Is it hard to tell if the lure is working or not?

I use VMC chrome, they give off a nice flash. Also change your swivel to a snap clip.

I was only using the swivel and mono to try to give myself some shock absorbtion…I do use a snap clip to attach the lure. Maybe I’d be better off trolling with mono
