My recommendation is to pay extra for the single center window latch. I see these guys with these brand new trucks and toppers and were too cheap to opt for this. So it’s annoying to have to use the left and right knobs to open and lock the hatch.

The single center lock is standard. You pay extra for the double locks. I went with the double locks and will so on every topper for the rest of my life. My first ARE with the single lock was broken into too easily. You pull the window out from the center lock, it bends out just far enough and can drop the tailgate. Granted, newer trucks have their own tailgate lock but my 2014 Chevy hasn’t worked in years! A grand or so in tools later I will never go back to the single center lock. They have thin rods that “lock” the window to the edges of your topper versus the double lock where it locks directly to the topper from the backside of the lock. No cheap thin rods to protect what’s inside your topper. Just something that might help you from waking up and looking out the window wondering why your tailgate is down. Then to find out most of your tools and fishing rods are gone. Best $25 you can spend on a $2k topper.

FYI Get the rope lights. Awesome in the winter time ice fishing or early mornings at the jobsite.

Flip overs generally weigh more loaded and don’t pull as well behind a snowmobile while with a hub most can get by with a smaller otter sled for hub and gear.

Flip overs don’t pull well behind snowmobiles? Seriously? When did this happen?

You can’t go wrong with an A.R.E topper. I have the V series with contractor side windows, fishing rod holders and the rope light. The fishing rod holders are the same ones you can buy in store for $15 and install them yourself. Just use short screws into the “meat”, thicker part of the fiberglass, of the topper. I wish I would’ve saved some money there but oh well, live and learn. The rope light is PLENTY bright enough, you would not need 2 of them. I have an 8′ box and between ice fishing and grabbing tools out of the back for work, there is no way anyone would ever need 2 rope lights. Side note on the lights, I purchased my topper about a year ago and the connections for the 3rd brake light and rope light were corroded and in need of repair. I think they could use some weather proof type of connections but I replaced them with my own grease filled connectors and taped them up. Better than new. Get the double locks on the rear window for added protection against theft. The single lock, even when locked, doesn’t provide enough protection from thieves, in my personal experience. Good luck!

I have enjoyed reading this topic but I am also saddened that there are guys out there that have ZERO empathy for what is happening around this country. They just want their 2nd amendment rights, everyone else can suffer, as long as I have my guns I’ll be happy. That’s what I’m hearing from some of these AR-15 target shooting people. It’s not much of an argument guys, sorry. When these shootings happen it’s not only lives that are lost immediately but also the lasting effects on the community, financially and emotionally. Emotionally everyone SHOULD be able to know how they are feeling, to an extent. Everyone has been to a funeral and the somber feeling surrounding it, now multiply that exponentially. Unless you are the one poster who said something to the effect of people are just numbers or stats. That post more than others rubbed me the wrong way. Whoever that was either misspoke or is just not a decent man. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt but gees man proof read before pressing enter. As for the financial side of the community, they will be tearing down that building and it’s estimated that it will cost $30 million.

    $30,000,000.00

I don’t like paying taxes to send other kids to school, I have none, and I sure as hell ain’t paying to bulldoze a multi-million dollar building just to build another one. Maybe the NRA will?

You can argue all you want with me but if you need 30 rounds to shoot a target, you got some problems, bad aim being the least of em.

Butane does NOT work well in the cold. Switching it over would be a huge mistake.
