A vexilar will last you a lot longer. They are way more durable than marcums and humminbirds. Customer service is also better than humminbird and marcum. More of a preference though, you should try out each unit if possible before making a decision.

Had the same thing happen to me once, I now use blue loctite and lock washer on them.
This was my next option. Has your blades stayed on well since?January 18, 2013 at 2:27 pm #1132289Blood Red Tube jigs, airplane jigs, or chubby darters have been my top three baits!!!

Im a Scotty Power Grip plus fan myself. Also like the wire clips as there is less fumbling around when you are removing the stacker. Easy on, easy off.
For a person who doesn’t have experience with roemer releases, Scotty makes the easiest to use releases around. Your best bet would be to go with scottys for saving time and effectiveness
July 23, 2012 at 4:11 am #1086525My great grandpa even tags along on this fishing trip, which is amazing! Hes in his upper 80’s and still reels in King Salmon like a 16 year old kid! Having four generations in a fishing boat at once is something very few people will get to experience! I am proud to be one of those kids who does get to cherish fishing with the family!
July 23, 2012 at 3:52 am #1086520Can’t forget about the beautiful Lake Michigan sunrises and sunsets!

If you want to go up to Sioux Narrows, I go to a place every year that has cabins for 1300 to 1400 a week for up to four persons (or more for extra charge) . We usually go the first two weeks of July and the fishing has been great in my opinion. If your interested let me know and I’ll fill you in on the location and name.
Great idea for a place to fish. We go up for lake trout opener every winter. There’s gotta be a good trout bite in July too aye? Or are you walleye fishing?

Now that gets my attention! absolutely beautiful fish!! Congrats!
Grant, from reading some of your posts and information, I realized I fish many of the same bodies of water as you do. My dad lives in Virginia, just an hour north of you so we spend a lot of time chasing cohos and lakers on Lake Superior. We also spend lots of time in the boundary waters lake trout fishing which is always s blast! Hope your havin a good fishing season!April 8, 2012 at 5:02 am #1056601Quote:
What colors were working for you guys down that way?
You guys look like you’re having a hoot!
We’ve been using trigger x grub tails in a steelish color when were pitching to shallow water. When were trolling, we’ve been picking fish up on j7 firetiger raps
March 24, 2012 at 2:04 am #1051936I run strictly fenwick rods. I have 4 Eagle GT models, running from 6’0-7’0. Two of them are medium lights, which are fantastic for fishing pannies here on the river! One is medium and one is medium heavy for walleye fishing!
March 11, 2012 at 3:42 am #1048163Preppin for our trip to Canada on Tuesday!! I’m so physced as this will be my last ice outing of the year! My dads up there right now searching for, and catching crappies, lakers, and ‘eyes!!
March 7, 2012 at 6:16 pm #1047081Upper Landing is 100% usable. Yeah the waters a little shallow. With a roller trailer you should have absolutely no problem! Ive been putting my 16ft flat in at that landing for the past week!

4. If its dark out, turn off your headlights. You can see the water and landing better with less light. The next person in line or loading their boat wont be seeing stars for the next week.
All good comments except this one. It’s 2012. Most vehicles now days have auto headlights. It’s not up to me when they are on or off.
Every vehicle I’ve seen still has an override switch to manually turn them on or off.
I have automatic headlights on my truck, they can be manually shut off.

I switched all my small motors to Amsoil Saber at 80:1. I can only speak for my auger…it runs well and clean!

February 24, 2012 at 1:19 am #1042270x2 on the 32incher. Much more versatility, especially when fishing outside. thorne bros has had a tough year with sending out rods. My buddy ordered one a long while back and still hasnt received his. I ordered a 32″ powernoodle myself in October of last year, and still havent received it.
February 22, 2012 at 4:37 pm #1041738Tube jigs are the perfect jig for lakers. You shouldnt need any glue as others have already said. Another jig you may want to consider or use is the airplane jig and River-2-Sea.
