They closed it down to all traffic in 2001 which was second highest on record. I believe but not positive it was closed again after a large summer rain event. not positive on that. I have lived on the river for 30 years and with the amount of crap coming down it is warranted.
Are the Games getting longer again since the All Star break. More time between innings? More concession sales, TV adds? Maybe I’m imagining it but it sure seems to be dragging on again. Early on it seems 2-2 1/2 hour games were the norm.
No These are not inflatable. They are flotation jackets. Look like a duck hunting jacket. I have an inflatable. not what I am asking.
These are actual coast guard approved life jackets. I am aware of the striker and others. Not what Im looking at but thanks.
Short barreled 12 gauge pump shotgun. No greater deterrent when a round is racked into the chamber. Loaded with all .00 buckshot. Too much penetration with some handgun and rifle rounds. Baseball bat and bear spray not bad either if deadly force is not an option,
Similar situation recently occurred in Vernon County Wisconsin in Genoa. Unarmed person took off with a Deputy being dragged. Deputy believed his life was in danger and was justified using deadly force to stop the threat. .
In 1987 when the Twins won the World Series they had a regular season record of 85-77. 4 teams in east had a better record. They had good pitching. A lot of similarities. Not saying they are going to win it but nobody gave them a shot in 87 either.
If you are going thru the Great River Houseboats Fun in the Sun they are located south of Alma on Pool 5. Alma Marina above the dam also has boats but not as many as Great River Harbor. They are also a Honda dealership and rent small fishing boats to tow. I would not want to tow a large boat behind. Bluegills at that time will be on the wing dams and fishing should be really good. Explore both above and below but Pool 4 above Alma can get crazy with boat traffic. It is a lot quieter south of Alma on 5. Some nice beaches with the Weaver bottoms right behind the sand beaches. A canoe or Kayaks would also be good. You will regret not having a boat or something along to explore.
NWS updated forecast at noon today. 16.4 around Monday or Tuesday. That is about 1.3 feet higher than it is now at Lock 4. Prediction is highest in 20 years. !6.4 in Alma will put it 4th highest on record. Interesting read. Chances are growing to see 2001 levels according to update.
Lock 4 closes at 15 feet and we are at that now with alot of water still on the way. Going up higher and faster that predicted. I believe we will be over 16 feet before long. Its been going up a foot every day. we have blasted past the April 13th forecast of similiar to 2019. I am still thinking closer to 17 feet. And hopefully not alot of rain and a second crest that pushes higher.
Yes I see that Bucky. They updated again today with what you said. I am afraid we will see many more changes for awhile. 2001 levels would suck
big time.
NWS weather forecast office for our area pool five and lower four is LaCrosse. on the weather forecast page at the top is a link to the Mississippi river flood details. They have the river forecast charts and the updated as of April 11 at 3:30PM flood forecast. Also all the current stages and seven day forecast from Lake City to Guttenburg Iowa
NWS updated the flood forecast on April !!, forecast is now for the Mississippi to reach levels not reached in twenty years. Said to prepare for 2001 impacts. Cresting after april !9th to May. I guess time will tell.
come on Bucky everyone knows there are no fish in Lower 4 and pool five..
Lots of water will be coming down the St Croix, Chippewa,. and other watersheds. Lots of snow up north. I believe we will have higher water than the past few years but nothing serious. That could change with early spring warm up and thunderstorms. I think it will be perfect conditions for some good backwater sloughs and hopefully stays high awhile for a good spawn.
Could you imagine the cluster—- this would cause on the Wisconsin Minnesota boundry waters. Lead ok on the Wisconsin side of the river but not Minnesota side. What a mess that would be.
This change happened back when Governor Walker was in office. The Railroads convinced someone that this was a safety issue when in fact there is essentially no history of anyone ever getting hurt crossing a track other than at a road crossing.
Conservation groups and the Conservation Congress have been trying to get
it changed ever since with no success. The Legislature and the Governor(s) don’t seem to care that tens of thousands of acres of public land has been cut off from use. There are even private landowners who own land on both sides of a RR ROW that can’t legally cross it.
Ridiculous.

There actually has been several pedestrian fatalities on BNSF tracks but to my knowledge alcohol and other substances were factors. I can not recall any directly involving sportsmen crossing the tracks for fishing or hunting. And most have been in municipalities or close by.
I use the small Rubbermaid Action Packers. They are completely waterproof and will take a lot of various size plastic boxes and other items you want out of the weather. I had been using these and went to a tackle bag. Did not take long and dumped the bag and went back to the Action Packers.
Check out the Chippewa Flowage. !8 state owned Island campsites and 6 managed by LCO tribe. Info on Wis DNR website. You would have it all to yourself.
Bench seats are fine …nobody sits anyway…they are up and rowdy the whole game.. was there for the cold NFC championship against the giants in 2008… best atmosphere you will ever see..the way football is supposed to be.
The glorified pole barn called Lambeau still has more trophies than the glass house of the team of few titles. This is going to be fun.
Pack 7-0 last two yeas without Adams when out with injury. Beat Arizona last year without Adams and Lazard.
Much is being made about the packers receivers…MVS was just not that good, fast but dropped a lot of passes. Yes it hurts to be without Adams but the two rookies Doubs and Watson are already better receivers than MVS. Pack has good tight ends and both backs catch the ball very well out of the backfield. And Sammy Watkins in the mix. I think the pack is going to be tough all around. And they have Rodgers who can make anyone look good.
The Wisconsin waters from Ashland to Bayfield off the river mouths such as Fish Creek, The Souix, the Onion all have a good run of coho and steelhead. Starts in mid September thru October. Waders and a few spoons is all you need. After a good rain is usually the key to get fish to the river mouths. You can get a long ways out with waders.
Had the same thing happen to me between Bogus Point and Stockholm about a year ago. Boat with Minnesota registration with two guys yelling at me for running three lines. I just ignored them and went about my business. Not worth the argument.
.
Bullpen is pathetic….looks like they are throwing batting practice.
That must have been the first one. The first one I saw just left lock 4 about 30 minutes ago.
