Mustang MIT 100 Auto/Manual- I believe Mustang Survival has a number of inflatables marked down right now.
I have had a few of these for a number of years.

A bit more in cost- the Elite 28 hydrostatic series is nice as well.

I have an original one since the 1980s. Converted from wax candles to lamp oil with an insert. I carry it as part of my survival kit stil today. The lantern with one of those heavier space blanket makes a great get warm quick shelter.

Encased wire is the way to go. I was replacing boat trailer wiring every couple of years. Have not replaced in 5 since going with encased wire on all my trailers.

I would see if the motor can be replaced by a 12V DC motor and runn it off of batteries with a solar charger.

Now you need to do a power consumption test, bet it used more power form the batteries.

I have not seen an increase in battery consumption-been using Kipawa for 7 years.
My batteries still last all day and have much better boat control at lower power settings. 1.5 vs 3 with the stock prop, level 3 instead of level 5. You get the picture. I was skeptical of battery life when I first got the Kipawa.
My initial purchase was for use in current situations and have not been disappointed.

I travel often for work and some rental car mirrors give me a dizzy, nauseated feeling going down the road if I use them to often, the rear view in particular. One was so bad I had to exchange the car for another after a couple days.

“According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average U.S. home uses 893 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. Per the U.S. Wind Turbine Database, the mean capacity of wind turbines that achieved commercial operations in 2020 is 2.75 megawatts (MW). At a 42% capacity factor (i.e., the average among recently built wind turbines in the United States, per the 2021 edition of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Land-Based Wind Market Report), that average turbine would generate over 843,000 kWh per month—enough for more than 940 average U.S. homes.”

But that doesn’t take into account transportation (line) losses, commercial/industrial use, and assumes that electricity is consumed at a constant rate throughout the day(it isn’t).

That’s right. I was pointing out the low percentage of capacity usage. Lets put up some more though.

Has anyone been to CA lately? I think its hilarious that many the road side car charging stations are powered by fossil fuel powered generators in a pit right behind them.

According to mustang Survival facts section the CO2 cartridge has a manufacturing date and the canister has no expiration date- just recommend replacement when corroded. Bobbins expire for sure- Fleet farm should learn this- everyone on the local stores shelf has expired!

I don’t think Hot beef isn’t really exclusive to Minnesota. I travel to many manufacturing locations in small town America- mostly farming communities, and see hot beef in nearly every town.

See some weird stuff like pony shoes and horse shoes- the pony shoes big brother, on a lot of menus too.

We used to make cupworst (sp?). Traditionally it was made by boiling the head of the cow to get all the meat off of it when butchering…when we made it we would just use trimmings. It would end up a bit mushy and very rich. You would pack it into square molds and freeze it. We would slice it up thin and fry it so the outside was crisp and the inside was soft yet, normally a breakfast meat.

Looks like what we made is close to Kochwurst, we used lots of allspice and barley in ours.

We do something similar but with pig head. Called Gritwurst or in german, Gritfaust. I use pork roasts now.
Anyhow, boil it up and remove bone, teeth and grisel. Run it through the grinder, then add steel cut oats, spices usually all spice and pepper. Cook it up in a roaster until thick then in pans to cut in squares after cool and freeze.
Fry it up and eat. I like it crispier rather than softer.

My oh my this thread brings back memories growing up at the farm. My grand father made this often. Only difference is once ground it was packaged like ground meat and frozen. Grandma would fry it up in the old cast iron skillet for breakfast and served it with over-easy or sunny side eggs on top straight from the chicken coup! Delicious!

Plan on starting it a couple hours earlier than you think you need to if you need it ready at a certain time.

Definitely plan on more time than less! Calculations per pound are nice but it often takes more time to get that perfect temp!

I have never seen any sleeves with o-rings. Usually metal sleeve light to moderate press on the shaft. Perhaps the o-ring if there is one is the source of the leak? A pipe of the correct ID is the way to go.

Speedi sleeves can be replaced, the issue can be getting them off the spindle. Some will easily come off. New May need to cut the worn one off. Need to know shaft diameter, width of existing sleeve. NAPA stocks a good assortment in my past experience or a bearing/seal supply house should have them.

While doing some machine upgrades/modification in a facility down south the local mechanics could not get some bolts loose to remove some parts and I had the following conversation:

Mechanic: “Stout- we can’t get a bundle of them bolts out.”
    Me: “Why not?”
Mechanic: “Them bolts are T..I..T, tight, they ain’t commin’ out!”

Because I am “stout”-meaning muscular in the local vocabulary, I then proceeded to loosen the bolts they had been turning the wrong direction.

Th mechanic thought “tit” spelled tight. I use that line to this day when someone tells me they cannot get a fastener loose or the fastener needs a high torque value.

Stay some Kroil-not a typo-on the post at the base and pack the post with ice cubes. Let it sit so the post gets good and cold then lightly tap the base from the top while holding the post tightly.

I prefer thicker jerky and slice 3/8 every time. The key is to let it cure longer to insure full curing. Then when you smoke it, continue to smoke it until when you bend it in half, the fibers turn white and start to separate. It will take more time than thin sliced obviously. I also rotate the racks every hour to hour and a half. I do 15-20 pounds of jerky at a time in the smoker. I use high mountain cure with my own seasoning.

Usually 5-6 hours in the smoker, no water in the pan, you are drying the meat so adding moisture makes it take longer.

I do use my terrova on the big pond but when the wind kicks up it really starts building up the power level to keep the bow pointed in the right direction. I use cruise control for fine tuning boat speed and auto pilot. Like the steering response aspect.
