That’s heavier that I would have thought, Howard!

We had a feeling but hoped it was lighter

My 18’ MX1825 with a 175, no kicker, batteries, full fuel tank, full windshield, trolling motor and tandem trailer was right at 4800 lbs. Not sure how that compares to a WX but I’d imagine it’s close.

That’s exactly what pushed us looking at aluminum boats in the first place.

Now we know the winnebago revel could pull that weight all day long – but it doesn’t change what the max towing Weight is and at age 62 I have learned a few things.

It ain’t worth the legal hassle at all.
Remember a fellow who got in an accident which was NOT his fault but they determined he was over the towing limit and got drug through the mud big time.

    Thanks for replying

Tandem axle will always tow better but twice the maintenance as well. Just keep in mind that unhooked with a tandem you are not moving that boat really anywhere. I looked at the van you talked about I don’t think there will be an issue. Your boat could go either way I think. I had a warrior 1890 at one point that was single axle and it towed great.

    Thank You!!
That is something we have wrestled with. Tandem seems to be smarter if towing longer distance but single is more versatile.

Is it a camper or an RV? If a camper it must be a 5th wheel in MN to be legal to tow double. Also when looking at 5th wheel/boats total length should be considered. Tip to tail in MN I believe must be less than 70’. So that puts the camper somewhere around a 32’ model or less to include truck, trailer, boat nose to tail.

    Exactly!
Should have paid better attention. We call everything a camper around here and just forgot.

    It’s a Sprinter Van

According to previous discussion the WX1850 weighs 1800 dry.

So I’d guess right on 4000 as well. Totally agree, a tandem axle trailer with brakes has a lot better road manners.

It’s all going to come down to how comfortable you are towing close to the max. Personally, I have 5K towing capacity and I’ve used every ounce of it and more than once. Obviously, there is going to be a built-in margin, you’re not going to go into meltdown at 1 pound over the max.

Having the right trailer and having the rig PROPERLY set up for tongue weight IMO is the key and with the right setup I have towed over 4500 and it towed better than a lighter weight rig that was not as well set up.

    Grouse

    Thank You!!
Winnebago puts a 5,000 lb hitch on and sprinter said no, more like 4300 in one article and 4700 in another.

Vehicle will be Winnebago Revel – maybe

Totally Agree on the tandem since we will be traveling a lot.

    Thank you Again!!

I bet it would be close to 4,000 by the time you add the motors, fuel, batteries and gear. I would go with a tandem axle trailer if you can.

That’s what we were thinking but towing Weight seems to not make sense in many cases.

Boats that added up heavy had a lower t.w and some that seemed light went with heavier t.w

Take your rig to any truckstop. Weight scale is typically free.

    Thank You!

We don’t have the boat yet. Trying to find the right fit with weight.

Problem is we want the WX 1850 and nothing compares.

Got frustrated in the shopping and hoped someone might know the package towing Weight.

It’s a longshot but we really like the wx1850

Hey everyone, first time in the forum. I usually just watch the show and go about my daily but this week with James and a couple others being out sick I figured I’d get more involved with what the site has to offer.
Anyone on the page from Ohio you’re more than welcome to add me as a friend and you can also find me on fb! I live in central Ohio (Delaware county) and I’ve been fishing for 28 years in several bodies of water around my area as well as statewide! I love fishing and anyone who loves fishing as much as I do is definitely a friend of mine!I
    Tight lines!!!

    Welcome Fellow Buckeye,
Been in Michigan for the past 10 years but soon to be returning and getting back to my lakes for 3 seasons then hit the road and follow that warm sushine for the winter season.

Anyway, how was your fishing this year?
Ever make it up to West Branch or Berlin Reservoirs?

Once we get back we are planning on doing some camping and fishing down your way before we seek warmer trmps. Kind of a bucket list thing.

When I Was guiding I lived 5 minutes from the boat ramp. Try mowing with the sounds of boats going up and down the lake. Lol.

I tried so many times to head south to new water but every time, 5 minutes later I realized I was preparing the boat for launch once again….

    Oh well…
Hope all is going well for you

If this has been covered elsewhere I apologize for bringing it up again.

    1. Is there any real differences between a 2018 and 2019 mx1825?

    2. Are the same color patterns available in both years?

    Thank You

I have these and am perfectly happy with them. They don’t necessarily swivel easily but I don’t see much need to swivel during the day anyway. It usually stays how I set it before going out. If i need to swivel it takes 30 seconds.

    Thanks for all the replies.
After reading here and watching vids on outboards that were flushed regularly and still had lots of salt build up and damage I have come to a conclusion.

There is Plenty of Fresh Water to Fish !!
I will ride with some one else on salt water.

Thank you for helping see through this.

Thank you Everyone for your replies. I find them very helpful.

    Thinking a mixture of both.
More then likely make two rod holder stands that fit into the seat braces on the rear deck for catfishing and the monster rod holders would work very well and be out of the way.

    Thanks Again

Congratulations on the new boat and it’s always an awesome experience when it performs as well if not better then you hoped.

Hope it’s an easy fix on the wet glove box.

    James,
The talon is primarily used for docking applications rare shallow wter fishing. In my opinion, the new blue tooth spotlock is a far better fishing application for the $ invested.

    Thank You Dean!!
Probably only use I might have is anchored up fishing for big cats but hey that’s what they make anchors for.
    Thank you again….

    Greetings Dean,
Noticed in the show you and James did you had 300 offshore , kicker and Eagle Talon.

    1. How does One Tallon hold the boat?

2 In your opinion, would a single talon be worth it on a new MX1825 150 4stroke and kicker?

Never used one and two seems best.
I just don’t want extra weight on the transom and give the boat that dreaded bow rise sitting still.

Thank you Sir for your time.
    Have a great Autumn

Had a winter house on the intercoastal waters off Texas for 5 years where I could pull my Skeeter bay boat up on a boat lift right at my house. It was great times, and I really miss it. If it were me, and I really wanted a WX boat, I would just hire a guide when on vacation, and leave the boat home. Your trailer will be destroyed, no mater how much you think you have rinsed it off. You cannot rinse off the salt coating after it has dried on your trailer while out fishing. Your boat should be fine, with an occasional use, but your motor needs to be flushed immediately after each use, for me it was easy, as I had water hose hookups right at my boat lift. Also your fishing rods and reels will be toast down the road, unless you have saltwater resistant reels and rod guides. After my first year there, I ended up replacing all of my rods and reels that I had brought from home. There is also the increased gas cost of hauling a boat to salt water. Also keep in mind the depth of water where you plan on fishing. I would not want a Skeeter WX hull, where I was fishing, as you would always be in a compromising situation with the deep draft of a WX hull. My bay boat only drafted 10″, and I was somewhat restricted as to where I could go at times. Also my bay boat would take off flat, with very little bow rise, and I had trim tabs, which helped immensely in shallow water running. Having lived there, and knowing the effects of salt water, I would not recommend it. I was off Corpus Christi, on Padre Island, and the fishing was incredible. I really miss my times there.

That’s just it, when the boat is at home. it will be behind the truck.
So done with this brick and mortar life. Truck and camper which has everything we need and our boat.
Has 2 reclining chairs, bed, dinette, awesome kitchen and shower and head.

Shoot for the most part we will be in the boat.

3 seasons in the North and one in the south. Maybe not much salt water as there is some great fresh water fishing in new Mexico .

Really leaning towards the 1825 MX.
    It just makes sense.

Muskie, Catfish tournament here I come. ; )
    Sure is looking mighty fine.

You’ll need to make sure your anodes are zinc or aluminum, rather than magnesium. Flushing the boat and outboard after every outing needs to be done. If you keep the boat in the water you’ll need bottom paint. A fresh water boat probably doesn’t have marine grade wiring and you can’t flush the electrical system. Also it’s best to get an aluminum trailer or be prepared to wash that each time out. I’d look at getting a saltwater boat. Center console boats are over looked as viable options inland. FWIW Skeeter has a line of bay boats.

    Thanks Blackbay,

I was also thinking of a galvanized trailer.
Man we do like a nice C.C and or those newer multi bay boats good for shallows and near offshore.

However these days we are leaning towards a WT with a top and side curtains etc. It gets cold early spring and late fall and turning 60 kind of enjoy being out of the weather now and again.

    Casting and trolling muskie
    Drift and anchored live bait
Walleye and bass, striper and panfish etc.
Hitting up some bass and cat tournaments.

Winter from Florida to New Mexico.
Blues, Tarpon, snook and redfish to grouper and so forth.

My Problem is there is something that keeps pulling me back to the WX And MX. Lol
    Thanks Again

Buying a used boat used in the salt is a risk due to the fact you do not know if they flushed motor after use with fresh water etc. Outboards and saltwater left in them lead to corrosion and salt scale etc.

    Mwal

    Thanks Mwal,
Yes I agree about fresh water flush and not knowing for sure. There are some obvious signs one can look for as well.

What happened to the future wx1910 guy? ???

    Carpet and such.
I need a hard core work boat.
No carpet or vinyl just gator hide and a broom. Lol

However, was looking at one the other day.

    Thanks guys.
    Medium size resivoirs .
Its a glorified bass boat in which I am looking at. Catfish boat.
    Not designed for a kicker.

I will only be trolling with the main engine on the longer runs anywhere from 3 to 5 mph.

Don’t want to waste my electric on that.

Trolling is NOT my main fishing but something I plan on growing in as we search for a muskie bite and again this is not my main thing.

I am really liking this style of boat and if the Yamaha’s can’t handle the trolling I will look at a different boat make where I can have a choice of outboard..

I just really like this G3 Sportsman 200 which is a Yamaha owned company.

This is not mine but as you can see adding a kicker would require bolting on after market mounting plate and I don’t believe I want to go that route.

Troll for Muskies at times so 3 to 5 mph is great. Just don’t want to drain the electric real quick.

What about the 150 or 175?

That’s what I was trying to find out before I talk to a dealer.
I know nothing about the Yamaha.

What gets me is other brands such as mercury etc design their 150 and 200 to troll.

    Thanks Guys,
Yep I have those things as options but how well will a 200 hold up to lots of trolling?

I have not ever used a big motor for my trolling before.
I don’t want to cause issues by trolling to much on a bigger motor.

I would say if u got the money get it I don’t think u would regret it one bit. I just love all the features the solix has

That’s what I am starting to think.
I have to admit that the Helix G2 is looking pretty good too.

Wonder if there will be any bugs to work out of the solix.
