Sounds like an awesome fish! Amazing isn’t it, that this fish would be a state record fish, but even if he had a tag, with the length restrictions that they have on the sturgeon, this would be an illegal fish to keep! Man, whoever does finally break that record is going to absolutely crush it! Congrats to you for your catch!
It had me thinking hard right up till the end. I just figured it was another one of the “internet stories” out there with doctored up photos.
I have always used the approach that it is best to follow your own states rules when on border water. The only exception that I use on this is the multiple line law. Why not increase you chance at a fish with two lines in the water??
On the computer I am at, the video link just shows up a bunch of mumbo jumbo, is there a better way to view it?

Hopefully all goes well with the reintroduction. I read a similar articl in the outdoor news a couple of weeks ago. In that article they said that there would be 10,000 sturgeon per year released for 10 years. So if all goes well there should be a self sustaining population eventually. If the Red Lak band and DNR can pull off what they did with the walleyes of that lake we could be in for some tremendous fishing oppurtunities, after retirement ofcourse!! 
Hopefully I can make a few more of these events in the near future.
Well, it fell two onces short!! 
But still a nice fish, maybe it will get me a master angler certificate.
