I fish TUCR’s and I will tell you back in the day stroking $100+ for a rod was stomach wrenching. I finally bought the quick tip about 4-5 years ago and I was besides myself on the difference from the rods i used before (jason mitchell meat stick the whole genz line and the frabils) that were nowhere the quality weight and performance. TUCR seem more expensive but in all honesty you will always be buying a newer $40-$50 rod because you won’t be satisfied with the others (at least was my experience) and they don’t hold up like a TUCR. I spent more money looking and looking and replacing cheaply made rods that kept braking than i have since i switched all my rods to TUCR’s. I use a quick tip and bull whip for the crappies, perch and gills. Amazingly sensitive and detect the smallest bits that my buddies are missing

i fish lake Powell a lot i live in utah so thats my big water. i have been trapped in storms on there with 6-7 foot swells and i haven’t sunk it yet. now its not something you want to take out and try to handle water like that but sometimes we’re a hour away from the marina in a tournament and a storm can blow over in 5-10 min and you are poop out of luck. also i go there with my dad on family trips and troll for the strippers and walleye and it handles and trolls well. i have caught kokanee and lake trout trolling at flaming gorge as well. up until two years ago all i did was troll and then i got hooked on bass and tournament fishing. we will always keep our fish and ski for the use with family. i’m getting a tournament boat next year but we want to keep the fish and ski for family outings because it accommodates everyone’s needs so well.

i have a skeeter fish and ski and i fish bass tournaments from it and the only thing i give up is a little tackle storage. i get to have fun and i can also take my wife and two boys out with me and they can be comfortable while were out fishing and they can tube and ski as well.

i have the same issue here with my pop up. ill drill a couple holes and the water comes flowing out. i take my heater and let it sit by each corner just before i leave and it comes up quit easily. that’s the only solution i have ever come up with. the one time i didn’t take a heater and the tent froze in the water i had a hell of a time chipping ice with the ice scoop.

i have a battery tender it is the best keeps the battery charged and doesn’t allow it to get overcharged. i have the big double on my bass boat and i have the smaller one for all my flashers and my humminbird that’s on my inflatable pontoon. it works great and i haven’t had an issue for the past two years of owning the chargers.

i love marcum and think they have the best equipment out there… but this unit(showdown 2.0) is not one you want. i have a friend who has one and its been issue after issue and they have an issue of not being water proof and it shuts down the unit and wont work. go with the vx-1p or any of the steps up. personally i have a lx9 and a lx7 and i couldn’t imagine using anything else!!

i updated mine on Sunday…. boy what a HUGE mistake. im one of the guys that fishes the shallow water that was having issues seeing the water column from 3′ and above.now i cant see from 4′ and above on open water mode and cant see from 6′ and above on ice mode. i will say there are some positives about the update but not as many positives as negatives. i Emailed marcum about wanting the old version back or a fix for the new update. i think if we get enough users that email them that they aren’t happy with it they will fix it.

Bubba Blade http://youtu.be/VbBX-bMqzzI this is a youtube video of the best filet knife ever. my fishing buddy owned a charter boat in California on the ocean and he not only introduced me to the bubba blade but also taught me to filet fish fast and clean and i promise you that i havent met anyone other than my friend who can filet faster and better than me. i have guys tell me they can out filet me with there electric knife and i do two fish to there one and the fillets look clean and professionally done. if it was me i would get the 9″ flex and the 7″ tapered filet knifes and they are like $45-$50 a knife also they can be used to clean your big game animals too.

yes its the quick tip and i love it. ill be getting the precision after Christmas. these rods are so light and the sensitivity just blows my mind im sad we don’t have the ice on any panfish lakes just our trout lakes but hey those cutthroats are fun to catch on the QT!

cant help out on what lakes to fish since im from Utah, but most our fishing out here is trout in fact i think its about 85% trout fishing here. so when it comes time i can point you in the way to be successful.

i live in utah and thats our main species as well i love using the VMC tingler tipped with chub meat, night crawler, wax worm or butter worm. also little baits like the VMC larvae jig and the wax tail jig are great. i fish one rod dead stick and one in my hand. and do great both ways. my new favorite bait is the rippin rap by rapala. i tip the front hook with one wax worm and they kill it. if you ever want or need any other info feel free to PM me.

im with all of you. selective harvest is something i pride myself on. if you have the video to prove you caught all those fish why not keep one to mount and put the rest back? i don’t think that big of a fish is going to taste that good. but as others said if they aren’t breaking the law we cant really hate on them. that’s on the biologists over the lake.

i saw this with a unit at cabelas and the guy told me some kids knocked it off the shelf and that is why it was a display unit. the unit may have been dropped. never had this issue with my LX7
