Jim, do you have official results or something you could post or send me? I am just curious to see what place we got because there was no board when we got back. I know were not getting a check but we got close and just interested in seeing the full results. Thanks.

The decoys are junk. The flockin wears too easily, the paint is terrible, and the feet fell apart on us, and the big plastic base sticks out like a sore thumb. Despite being junk they are great looking and were a great addidtion to the spread. I think for the time and money I would go with the bigfoots with flocked heads instead. Ive seen the fully flocked ghg and I think if I was going to go that far I would get hardcores in the LZ.

I will be too for a couple days, Ive never been there. Where can I start for muskies and walleyes, and generally what will it take? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Last year I thought was a pretty good bite. It was deep as normal but it seemed like you could get bit easily if you were on top of them. Most of what I do is on pretty steep structure so I vertical jig most of the time. As far as snells go how long of leaders is anyone else using out there with the clarity? Ive caught fish with 4 footers but I hear people preaching about long rigs. Ghostzapper, if you or anyone out there wants to hook up and hit green sometime I would be up for that. Ive just started fishin the lake hard the last couple of years and I guess I dont know how it was back then like people talk, and I couldnt agree more with the better fisherman will do what it takes to find fish. I am not fishin the local tournamnet but I should be in the walleye cup, I fished redwing earlier.

Tough bite. We concentrated on getting six fish first and foremost, just coulnt get a nicer fish to bite. Prefishing was confusing because nothing was the same day after day. Didnt quite cash a check but I was happy with getting six after how the week went for us.

For the most part I think you will be looking at trolling. If this is the case fish will be scattered and it is only a matter of finding what the want. However, with the cooler temps we have had I would go on the lake without jigging some rocks.

If you want size, pickeral and enemy swim are better choices. But like you said waubay can be insane at times. The suspended bite is always worth looking into no matter where you go…trust me. I started picking up on this in my home area and suprisingly found that its hard to find prarie lakes like this and my area without a suspended bite at times. Its nice to have your own pattern no one else is on.

Well we did decent considering the conditions. Being unfamiliar with the area, a thick fog delayed any fast search for fish early in the morning. We caught about a half a dozen 18in fish trolling 17′ on the north end of the lake. I went into the back channel for a short while on the way back with no luck. Didnt get time to try much of the river. Also its kind of hard to be real mobile and try a bunch of spots with four in our boat so trollin boards was in the best interest. Firetiger stick baits on leadcore were outfishing everything hands down. I wasnt complaining with the dead calm blue bird weather.

Thanks for the posts, much appreciated. I do not have much experience fishing the river much less trolling it. Are you just trolling cranks upsteam along the main channel breaks? If so what are some target depths. And as far as jigs what are some areas to look for there, back channel or main river? I think weel start trolling cranks in the lake in a few areas I know and then probably head into the river if that doesnt work out. I cant thank you enough for the help.

1.0 is pretty much out of the question for a main outboard from what I have seen. However little things like filling livewell(s) and keeping the weight in the back will and adjusting trim will slow you down, but every boat is different. I have a 1700 fisherman /125 merc that trolls to about 2.2mph in calm but when I do all those things I can get 1.5 or so. Use the wind if possible as well. Go for an electric with anything slower(autopilot works awsome for that)

I fish the area but spend little time on green. I am on diamond four days a week most of the time and fish kandi a good chunk too. I could possibly do some fishin with you over the fourth because I will more than likly be staying somewhere nearby. This all depends on work of course but keep it in mind and let me know your plans.

This keeps reminding me how lucky I had it. I am 19 and my dad was no fisherman. My grandpa was a different story, he loved to fish but was the type that just loved to watch a chub bounce under a bobber. Growing up I think my dad realized the craze my brothers and I had for the sport so he went along with it. It was funny watching us take the old man fishing before I could drive. The year I started driving he bought a new lund fisherman and I have been pulling it ever since that day. I treat it better than if it were my own and helped rig it to return the favor. He makes no remarks on the money I spend because he knows there are way too many worse things I could be doin 5 days a week but he reminds me how much I gotta work to pay for the habit. Now we travel all over the midwest chasin eyes and to this day I still dont know if he could find fish without our help. I think he just likes watchin us be successful at what we crave to do. I dont think it is more of the question of asking to use the boat but asking him to allow you to chase goals and dreams, even if they are as simple as being able to put a boat in the water without hassle. If your dad keeps persisting, it might take years of hard work and sacrifice to buy your own rig but it would be well worth it. I am entered in a couple co-angler events this year to get shown the ropes in hopes in the future I will be able to step it up when I get my own rig and chase my dream.

I plan on spending the day out there saturday. I need to put in some hours out there. If anyone else is going to be out there we could hook up and cover some water. [email protected]
