In February I doubt there would be ice but it’ll be cold. Probably in the 40s-50s.

I’ve never fished it that month. March on the other hand can be very good fishing and we can have temps up into the 70s.

April really is when Crappie fishing shines in Missouri, but I know you want to go earlier.

I live in Western Missouri, please google Truman Lake. That’s where you want to be. They held the Crappie Masters tourney there last year or 2019. World class crappie and big hybrids. Take a look.

Hey everyone, here is my report from last week. Fishing was hard work. Many hours and not a lot of fish. Walleyes were clearly in the transition, they were scattered, you could pick off one here and there, but not one spot, approach, bait or lure was overly successful. Pike were not in the weeds, most of them were caught of main channel islands or rock humps that had the wind crashing waves onto them. They wanted big stick and jerk baits. NOTHING ELSE. Smallies wanted it slow, most were caught on shady side of islands and around docks. Tubes, Dark Sleepers, and creature baits. Did catch a couple on small jerkbaits. Mayflies were clearly hatching. Doubt it was is full swing.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I’m heading up tomorrow and I can’t wait to get out there and put your input into action. I’ll leave a report here once I get back.

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I think my group is leaning towards Rainy or Kabetogama. My biggest worry now is finding a cabin with this short of notice.

Do you bother with adding a trailer or a skirt to your Doctor Spoons? Ever change out treble hooks with a single hook? I’ve heard of others trying this.
