Congratulations on the new boat. You will like it a lot. I had a 1900 and in 2016 I was looking at a new boat either the 1910 or a Ranger FS619, I ended up buying a 2060. I ruled the FS619 out because I didn’t care for the reduced room in the back because of the storage compartments were so wide and to get to the side of the boat to net a fish I would have had to kneel on the side compartments, at least on the Lund you can take them out. One thing that I like about the Ranger FS series boats is that the way the interior is laid out is that the FS series are all the same. I would have bought a 1910 but the interior layout is different from the 2060 and 2190. I like the cup holders and tool holders that are on the bigger boats. I also can’t understand why there is storage on the right side on the boat behind the shifter. I can’t understand why Skeeter does not have the same interior layout on all the WX series.
one accessory that I added to my package was the Drotto Catch n Release. Why I never had a Drotto before I will never know. It should mandatory on all trailers. For those that can back a trailer down the ramp it would cut unloading and loading by over half.

    Hi
I presume that you are going to have your helix mounted on the dash? That’s what I did. There are 2 ways to do it from what I understand. The way I did it was I purchased Humminbird switch 720069-1. this comes with a 3′ lead that has two female sockets to plug the transducers into it. Humminbird also make a Y-cable to run two transducers. I guess I am old school and didn’t understand how the unit switched transducers. I went to a Humminbird seminar a couple of weeks ago and found that each time I switch between the Ulterra tranducer and the side image transducer at the back of the boat we are supposed to into the Helix and change the type of transducer. The Ulterra is 83/200 and if you use the back transducer to switch it to that model transducer. He said it will still work but not right. Also I am sure that you are going to be hooking up your Helix to the Ulterra and you do that via an ethernet cable. They run about $30 bucks. I have an extra one for sale at a good price if you need one, just let me know how long you need it. 701-441-9899

The new Solara boat by Skeeter comes standard with a Bimini Top. I did call them for a price for WX2060 and it was a little over $1500. I call our Skeeter dealer and asked for the price on one for the Solera 189 and it was a little over $1200. The beam on a WX2060 is 99″ on a WX2190 101″ and the Solera 189 is 100″ one would think it would fit. So I measured up the two boats and the Solera is a little wider inside than a WX2060 83″ to 78″. I don’t know what a WX2190 would measure. I would like one and I like the one on the Solera because I don’t think it will be in the way as much as the other ones but I am having sticker shock.

I was a boat show a couple of weeks ago and there was a Skeeter Solara there with a bimini top. I really liked when it was open. I am not sure if I like the way it stores although it is not in the way kind of. The Wx2060 has a 99″ beam and the Solara 189 has a 100″ beam don’t see why it would work.

The new Spot Lock works OK it is just goofy until it finally gets locked on the spot. I had taken off a Terrova off my WX1900 and installed an Ulterra. The first time I used the spot lock on the Ulterra the motor turned and the motor sped up and of course overshot the position and then the motor turned around the other way and sped up and again overshot the spot. It did this a couple of times before it finally settled down. I thought WOW what a piece of $$$$. I called Minnkota and they sent me a new head to install but that head did the same thing. When I got my new WX2060 I tried out the spot lock on a calm day and it did exactly the same thing. If you do not like the current spot lock on the hand held controller you can go into the programing and change the spot lock to the “Legacy Spot Lock” and it will be just like to old Terrova’s. That is where I have mine set at. The new spot lock might be more accurate than the legacy but I don’t like the rodeo. You will love the boat.

no I don’t interference. I did forget one thing, yes the remote is large for the Minkota but after having the stow and deploy on the MinKota I would give it up for all the tea in china. It is a big safety item in my book as I am getting a little older and not as nimble as I once was.

I don’t think Skeeter changed their seat pedestals for 2017 the stock pedestal offere no cushion, my back found that out. Springfield is the OEM manufacture of the stock pedestal and when I called them the standard pedestal is just for adjustment they will you that it is not for pounding waves. They recommended the EZE Ride pedestal which I purchased but still not good so I move that one to the passengers side and purchased an airwave for the driver side wow and I can still take out my carpet to wash.

I purchased a WX2060 last and had the same problem as I had with my WX1900. I like the HDS so I run the HDS12 on the dash and installed a Helix 10 on the dash with all the wiring up front so I could move it up front. When it is on the dash I use the transducer in stalled at the rear. I also have a switch box so I run the Helix off the transducer from the trolling motor if I am not going to be up front like if I am trolling with the kicker and using the MinKota to steer. I like the Lake Master better than insight.

    Hi Dean
Here is a picture of the Springfield 2 7/8 base that I took out of my boat. There is zero damping, hard as a rock. I called Springfield and the gal there told me “and also sent it to me in an email” that the pedestal that Skeeter uses is extra heavy duty for the added weight of the seat. I weigh 240# and I had to bounce on it to get it to go down a little bit. She told me that the base that come boat is just a seat riser. She recommended 1080136 Ez-Ride Wave Damping pedestal which I did but now there is no height adjustment but at least there is some damping. I am going to test the boat on Sunday. By the way I also called Skeeter Customer Service and the gal there told me also that the seat pedestal that is installed on a WX2060 has no damping. This is why for my original comment. Thanks Dean for responding. http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/sYIAAOSw0fhXkoUk/s-l1600.jpg

I never had this problem with my Terrova. I sold my and bought a Ulterra mainly for the deploy feature and had the same problem with spot lock. I also had a problem with the autopilot would keep slowly go off course. I contacted Minnkota and they sent me out a new head which did the same thing. I found that if you put the Ulterra in Legacy Mode it is not as bad. I just got a new WX2060 with the Ulterra installed and it does the same thing so I have put it also in legacy mode.

I was going to mount them in the upper part of the step at above the drain plugs just like the above pictures. The only difference is that they will screwed to Stern Savers. Stern Savers are glued to the boat. The Structure Scan transducer can be mounted either way. In the picture above the gentleman has the wire of the transducer towards the front of the boat, he could have mount the transducer the other way around and the switched the orientation in the HDS setups. Thanks for responding.

I have a WX2060 on order and should be in the first week of March and here is what I am going to do. The boat is coming with the HDS12 and I am also mounting a Helix 10 on the Dash with the HDS12. I am going to use a DI transducer on the trolling motor for the Helix. I am going to mount the Hummingbird SI transducer and the Lowrance 3D structure scan on Stern Saver mounts. The Si transducer is going to be a little tricky because the mount for the SI is only setup for vertical mounting but I think that I got that figured out. The Lowrance skimmer transducer and all the other items that need to be mounted on the back of the boat will also be on a Stern Saver. The cables will be held in place via 3M self stick cable holders. There will no holes drilled in the boat if I can help it.

I thought that I would take a stab at your question. I hunt upland birds mainly pheasants above 35 days plus days a year. First there is a ton good info posted here. here my two cents worth. Is the dog going to be in the house with the family? Are you only going to hunt upland? Labs and springers are flushing dogs. I know that there are some labs that people are training to point but if you want a pointing dog buy a pointing dog. If you want a flushing dog buy a flushing dog. I am a partial to the VDD version of the German Wirehaired Pointer which are AKC registered, German registered dogs are Deutsch-Drahthaar ; http://www.vdd-gna.org these dogs are registered in Germany and are bred to hunt and be your companion. There is also a GSP called Deutsch Kurzhaar that is registered in Germany. A lot of dogs are line bred which causes health problems like hip problems and also have been bred for show dogs just like the GSP that won the West Minster Dog Show. There is a flushing dog English Cocker that is AKC and also Gun Dog registered. If you want a great little flusher I would lean towards a true English Cocker from England there are breeders in the USA. Also when you get a dog please order Rick and Ronnie Smiths DVD’s. Puppy Development I, Puppy Development II, The Silent Command System Vol 1 and 2. Buy a command lead for heeling your. All these dogs have the natural hunting built into them. Obedience training is a must for a great dog.

Only the WX2060 has the 8 package colors and you are right they suck, I know that’s what I had to order. The rest of the WX and MX boats you order it the way you want and there are more color combo’s than any other boat. If am not mistaken Lund only has package colors also but I like them better.

Great picture; Did you use the short or standard Cisco mount? When I looked at RAM’s website there where various models of swing arms do you which one you used? While on the subject how about transducer mounting did you use anything like a Stern Mate or Stern Saver or did you just drill into the transom? I am going try and not drill any holes if possible. Thanks

I don’t want to start a war here but I think that the GL will be a great boat. About a month ago I started looking for a new glass boat. I looked at all of them and really liked the Tyee 186GL as was in the length range as the boat I currently own WX1900 Skeeter. At our local boat show I was torn between the WX1910, Tyee 186GL and the Reata 1850LS. All very close in pricing but my decision came down to comfort. Out of all of them the Ranger had terrible seats. So it was down to the Lund and the Skeeter. I prefer the Yamaha motor but was open but was still undecided when a friend of mine walked by while I was sitting in the Tyee and told me that he really likes his Tyee 186GL but it porpoises really bad and he said it is not from having the motor trimmed to far. He think that there is to much weight in the rear. So I then bought the Skeeter WX1910

Thanks for the picture. Did you use Cisco mounts on both units? Do you know what height you used? Thanks again.
