I was on Mille Lacs this past weekend and the DNR paid us a nice visit while I had a slot Walleye frozen on the ice. He of course asked to measure it. I use tailors tape (cloth kind of) and had her at a solid 22.5″. He used his trough measurer and it came out to 21 1/8″…was quite nerve racking. Just throwing it out there that for anyone wanting to keep walleyes on Mille Lacs, I would bring a good quality solid measurer and measure that puppy a few times! Get group consensus too if you can.

We hit the north end this past weekend and made it to the mud flats. We were the only group on Top End and Myn Mar flats (Top End Friday, Myn Mar Saturday). The ice crack is keeping folks away but once you are over the crack, it was smooth sailing. We went via snowmobile. Myn Mar marina has a bridge over the crack so the $10 road pass is well worth it. The fishing was the best we have ever had on Mille Lacs by a wide margin. Many mid-20’s fish for us including a 24″ and 25″ on tip ups!!

Went out on the north end this weekend out of Myn Mar or whatever it’s called. The giant crack on the north end kept everyone out of the flats, but we took a snowmobile and had no problems. Had Top End mud flat and Myn Mar mud flat all to ourselves Friday and Saturday respectively, and it was an absolute massacre. The bite was insane.
