Thanks Tom. I had heard there is a chain still at Ponderosa. The DNR access is a long walk to anywhere. I haven’t heard about Fishermans yet. I know it blocked off last year. Well may have to take a ride.

Has anybody been out on Lake Zumbro? How are you getting on the ice? Last year they chained the access at the Ponderosa and Fishermans was all chained off too. Long walk from the DNR access.

Tom, is this KTTC? The new weather person can’t read the teleprompter very well. Probably means we’ll get 21″. )

Pink Salmon were up in the North Shore Tributaries the last couple weeks. Sounds like it was a fly fishing bite. Time to head to the Wisconsin fall run now. Steelhead time. Ever need any help Slab Seeker Fishing will put you on them.

Brandon, usually a spring run up the North shore for steelhead. As far as how to fish, fly or spinning works. We caught this one the middle of April right after opener. If you Google The Outdoor Report Episode one, we filmed a show up there with Garett Svir from Slab Seeker Fishing. Our part starts at about the 15 minute mark. Hope this helps. It was a blast.

I have an 2010 1800 Superhawk with a 150 Etec. Love the boat. Would like if it had more storage. Have the Captains seats and the fold over rear deck. Plenty of fishing room. Top speed of 52mph. Plenty fast for me. Good in big water. Had it out on Lake Superior in 3-4 foot rollers and a small craft advisory no issues.

You can find smallmouth bass along the Zumbro river. The river below the power dam has a lot of trophy size smallies. As far as Chesterwoods goes I’ve caught Largemouth on anything from spinnerbaits to small cranks. At dusk if you see them breaking the surface you can have a blast with poppers on the surface.

No doubt Tom. Not worth fishing crappy ice. Heard there was somebody had to be rescued off the ice up on the St Louis river last week. Not worth it.

I’ve heard the Zumbro was unsafe. They keep showing a iceshack sitting out there on the news. Looks like that guy might be hurting to get it off. I guess I might have to head north. Anybody that tries to go out this weekend please keep us updated. Sounds like more rain might be in the forecast instead of snow. Thanks everybody.

    Dan,
How did you do? Was out there a week ago and really did well. Some nice 9 inchers out of about 25 feet of water. No crappies. 3 of us had over 60 fish. All let go. Was a blast. Was out on Fosters yesterday had about 8 inches of good ice and 2 inches of slush. Lots of little stuff. A few trout. Hope it cools down or the ice will be hurting.

Was out at Pritchards last weekend. Caught 2 small northerns. Only had crappie minnows the bait shop was out of sucker minnows. Had heard the perch and gills were in there too. Never caught any. Talked to one guy who had only caught 4 gills all day. Lots of people down there too.

Faribault is another option. Some good walleye lakes in that area.

Can always check out the harbors in Red Wing or Wabasha. Panfish aren’t bad but can get some keepers.

Made it out to the Wabasha harbor today. Had about 3.5 to 4 inches of ice. Caught both perch and bluegill. Lot’s of little ones. Still fun to get out. Thanks for all the replies. Might have to hit up Chesterwoods. Hope this weekends rain doesn’t kill the ice.

Totally enjoyed the show you did a couple of years ago with Rapala. Fishing the different species on Lake of The Woods. Was awesome to see you guys catch all the species with one type of bait. That would be fun to see something like that again.
