We have mostly fished the lake but tried 4 mile bay and the river and did really good there too although not quite as fast of action. You will catch a lot of fish.
I’m up here right now, have been here since last Friday. The bite is great, but there is alot of sorting to find good fish. We haven’t found many slot fish. Just a few in that 20 to 22 inch range. A few 17 to 19 inch fish mixed in with a million saucers. White or gold jigs with frozen shiners have been our best. Caught fish from 15 to 28 feet of water.
I was faced with the same decision. Dealer also pushed suzuki. Purchased a comp 175 sport with 140 suzuki. Wanted yamaha but it was $600 more and came with a 3 yr warranty instead of 6. As others have mentioned i think they are both great motors. All things being equal if I had the choice again with the same inequalities I take suzuki. If same warranty and same cost I go yamaha but both great motors.
I’m going on year 5 with the motors. I got a 140 and a 9.9 kicker. My starter did go out on the 9.9 which the mechanic said was an anomaly. Covered under warranty and it still worked fine with the pull chord. Had to replace spark plugs on the 140 last year. Other than that no issues.
If you’re working with a certain dealer in the metro I would stay away. Awful experience with them. PM me for more details if you want em
We stayed with JR Anderson guide and shack rentals last Friday to Monday on Bitter Lake. We caught ZERO fish in 3 days and only 4 bites. Didn’t mark many fish at all. Nice houses and we still had a good time but the fishing was terrible.
Thanks, appreciate the info. Sorry if it was a dumb question, I’ve only bought a boat from a dealership so wasn’t 100 % sure of the answer for my friend, although I was thinking that would be the case.

You’ll be plenty good. I’ve had 2 of them a 2011 AWD and now a 2019 AWD.my 2011 had the tow package wich makes them able to tow up to 5,000 lbs.. And I towed my 17.5 ft boat all over with it. My 2019 doesn’t have the tow package so is more apples to apples with what you have but it tows it just fine. You’ll be good and yes, it’s a big step up from your escape.
