This will be a totally different conversation in the next two weeks when our copy cat Governor thinks we are Michigan and follows their lead.

Red fish, speckled trout, snapper and a few flounders have made up our main freezer fish for many years. Never really keep anything from Minnesota waters.
January 2, 2020 at 10:13 am #1902579You’re only one person so you’re only allowed one limit. If the limit differs between states, you’re allowed to keep a limit of the more liberal state.
In MN, almost all the possession limits are equal to the daily limits so the only situation you could have over that limit is if your fish were packed and labeled by a licensed fish packer in the state of SD. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter where you caught the fish, over limit in your possession is over limit, period.
What? Was this a change that happened overnight?
March 9, 2019 at 3:53 pm #1841857Gophers begging people to come to the playoff game tonight. Meanwhile the X and Brooks are full and FSN has a regular season game instead of a B10 playoff game.
March 1, 2019 at 7:32 pm #1839721On a side note did you see my Huskies got stuck in the blizzard last weekend AFTER winning the conference championship?
January 3, 2019 at 1:08 pm #1822799Caught about 20 or so this morning. Biggest was maybe 1 1/2#.
Still way better than drilling a hole any day. Pug, after last year I figured you be hard at it.Attachments:
January 2, 2019 at 10:29 pm #1822638Went out in the snowstorm last Thursday and caught a few below the plant, tomorrow is looking like 36 and mostly sunny…..
October 8, 2018 at 3:54 pm #1802255There was an Ike Live show that streamed this week that has a representative from each series chatting about the issues. It’s 4.5 hours long and I’m only about halfway through it but so far it has been pretty informative on the issues in both BASS and FLW.
<div class=”oembed-wrap”><div class=”fluid-width-video-wrapper” style=”padding-top: 56.23529411764706%;”><iframe src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/dV1VfBU99sA?feature=oembed” frameborder=”0″ allow=”autoplay; encrypted-media” allowfullscreen=”” id=”fitvid34832″></iframe></div></div>
Hopefully you weren’t like our son who had a test first period the next day and was waiting for Ike to reveal his decision until 11:30pm. It was a great marketing ploy to go all Sopranos with it.
August 20, 2018 at 10:07 pm #1792715I’d fight it. Can you provide an alibi and some form of evidence that you were not in the park on the 8th?
July 21, 2018 at 9:13 am #1786873The story talks about the lack of people and short wait times. I wonder how many people just choose to not fish these lakes anymore? I myself know several that use to but don’t anymore. But then again that is exactly what the lake associations want. That way there’s no strangers taking “their fish.”
The 15 boats at the access on the fourth weekend should indicate what’s happening. Way fewer people are using these lakes. Twin lake access has 40+ stalls between the two parking areas, you couldn’t find a parking spot there on a normal year if it was after 10am, now you can show up mid day and park in the front lot.
For everyone’s info they are presenting the reprt of the first half of the year to the Wright County Commissioners Board this Tuesday. You can watch her stammer and stumble through her lies and manipulate numbers live on their website. Should be entertaining at least. Hopefully some questions come up during the program and she shows her inability to perform again. Although it won’t matter, some portions of the board are so in love with this idea she can’t do no wrong.
July 21, 2018 at 8:59 am #1786871If you want to get it going I propose anyone with a dock has the get a ais sticker each year. Btw I have a Dock. MAy expose their true motivations.
ScheistersYou do realize that they are providing an inspector at the ramp in this program if you have 10 boats. One would think they would just go around the lake once and inspect them all if it was a rule that you needed inspection annually. Just another waste of money.
June 11, 2018 at 8:33 pm #1779796Grouse the only problem is the state has passed the statues to make this possible. Without that the local special interest group would have never got it through the county.

From what I’ve heard this guy has been wanting the DNR to buy the land instead of just use it for free. The DNR has ignored the land owners requests so he put up a fence.No. The DNR (and/or possibly the county, other articles were unclear about which agency actually paid) bought the land for both the access and the roadway.
This clown’s “claim” is not that the DNR doesn’t own the land and is using his land for free. He’s trying to claim that the road is not located where the legal description says it should be, so therefore he can block the road because it’s on his land.
I find it telling that so far, this guy has avoided having a survey done that would prove him either right or wrong. Golly, I wonder why he doesn’t just have a survey done and settle the issue in one shot?
Sorry, but there’s no big bad DNR taking away somebody’s land. Just some litigious clown trying to stop the public from enjoying water that they own.
Grouse
The county and multiple state agencies have surveyors on the payroll…. why haven’t they dispelled the claim?
Pretty sure he’s got a survey and it shows his case is valid. Why else would he waste the money on this?
June 1, 2018 at 8:36 pm #1778091Caught 19 on a single spot last Sunday. They weren’t bedding there they were just on the feed. Pretty awesome when the boy and myself could get them on both our confidence baits. He was working a Shadowrap and I was ripping a Chatterbait. Got a little wet from the rain on the way to the ramp but well worth it.

June 1, 2018 at 8:10 pm #1778090The annual picture thread gets the most action it seems. Other than that not much going here. Maybe some water temp questions and a has anyone been here lately post from time to time. I almost think it’s a silent ploy to keep the others in the dark about how great the fishing is up here. Sorry I think I said to much already.

Star tribune and The Outdoor news have both been critical of the plan.

April 27, 2018 at 4:53 pm #1770936I would think the high school team in your district would have a high level of interest in you helping recruit future members. Maybe check with them if they could help out financialy or with personnel?
April 25, 2018 at 10:32 pm #1770544It appears YETI made a terrible PR move and now they are back peddling as fast as they can… saying they dumped a program that affected other organizations… such as ?? Either way, YETI can deny to sell coolers to the NRA under any circumstances they want and NRA members and others can choose not to buy the over priced preppy coolers… you don’t have to be a professor at Fresno State to enjoy the 1st amendment.
Back peddling? I suppose the NRA thought they would continue to get all their Yeti coolers for the banquets for manufacturers cost after they wrote the deal with ORKA? Shows how much the NRA cares about The Friends of the NRA when they don’t even tell them about the discontinuation of the discount.

April 3, 2018 at 10:53 am #1764907We picked up 6 dozen from Trappers on our way up two weeks ago. One of the guys had called him a week ahead and he got them in for us and had them ready when we got there.
March 28, 2018 at 3:42 pm #1763452Good thing we banned something before today’s rampage! Oh wait they used a knife. Lindyrig can you add knives to your weapons of mass destruction list please?
March 28, 2018 at 1:05 pm #1763399Best thing the gun grabbers can do is make David Hogg disappear. Several videos are showing up now that aren’t good. The one where he’s ranting in expletives about “f*** them” and “I don’t give a S***” is hilarious. Then the coaching video and the one about not getting into some fancy college. Kids actually a hoot I bet when he gets a few drinks in him.
March 28, 2018 at 8:30 am #1763278No Doubt Minnesota is hurting for labor, but we tend to give a way more money to unemployed than people care to earn. So yeah a lot of jobs open here. But in Flippin’ Arkansas, Been there?, there are only so many bodies to go around.
Johnny Morris has bought and closed several glass boat companies. Stratos was under-performing, but Legend was up and coming. Legend was also a custom boat manufacturer that had deep margins at the dealer level which means at the MFG level usually. He bought it and closed it to limit competition. People were out of work for the bottom line. Cant blame him but it is reality and to someone that worked in those places it probably would mean more to them than you and I.
Plenty to be nervous of in Flippin Arkansas from that perspective.
Could you please call down to the Legend plant and tell them to stop today? They have been working on the new V21’s and V20’s didn’t get the inside info that you have. I hate to think they have been getting paid all these weeks without knowing they were closed down. Then again if the checks are still coming in I guess I’d continue to show up and build the Legends too.
March 27, 2018 at 2:16 pm #1763082Interesting but do you have ties to this company? Your vast knowledge and sales tactics seem to indicate you do?
The base prices at the Classic were deceiving from what I have read. Basically nothing included in that price. Trolling battery’s and even auto bilge pumps are an add on package and the 1980 is going to be closer to 40k reasonably equipped for a tin bass boat.

If the price of steel went up 25% and it raised the final product price by 15% you would have had around 60% of your price just in steel. A 20k ice house does not have 12k in steel.Yeah, a 20k ice house doesn’t have 20k materials. Then, there’s labor, overhead, etc. Nobody is selling anything at cost, which is what your math is assuming.
The price of the final product doesn’t equate the price of the materials going into it.
You think the other brands are dumping cash into their models? The others have been around a fraction of the time and have produced a fraction of the models.
Guess what? The other brands being pimped here as perfect poached workers out of ice castle to teach them how to build a damn fish house.
Also, they could raise the price 15% just because they wanted to, and still have the market on affordable fish houses in a headlock.
There’s a reason you see 10 ice castles for every 1 Yetti/Glacier/Firebrand/You name it. They didn’t just revolutionize the industry, they freaking created it.
It doesn’t sound like many people around here are up on manufacturing and what goes into it, yet seem to think they have the knowledge to cast stones. We’re talking about a small mom and pop shop from rural Minnesota that started in a garage, not General Motors. If they really wanted to, they could cut the number of models, standardize, and cut costs. They choose to offer the customization, variety, and affordable prices….because it has been proven time and time again over many years that’s what people want.
Yikes, you get pretty defensive over a brand here. I’d bet a 74 year old man in Kingston would likely school you on some facts though.
March 20, 2018 at 4:54 pm #1761266Dean could you track down Bridget tomorrow during set up and talk her into trading in our ZX for a new FX for me? Thanks and have a good show!

In the area of St Cloud, they have a new station 96.7 The River. Decent 70’s and 80’s music, not necessarily hard rock.Oh man, I miss the old 96.7 The Rev! Could pick it up at Milly. Blew away all the Metal stations around. Wish 93X would bump it up a notch.
-J.
You don’t know who killed your Rev do you? The Steel Toe Morning show took Free Beer and hot wings out behind the woodshed and the River is the result. It’s a sad day when I work to far into the city and 101.7 turns into some chanting.
