Went up for the day on Friday and found rough waters. Was planning on going for smallmouth but when we were met with 3 ft rollers we decided to troll for walleye. We went out of Garrison and fished Garrison reef and 3 mile and caught around 20 walleye in about 6 hours. We tried pulling cranks as we really wanted to get into bigger eyes but couldn’t find the right depth or length of line to get the cranks where we wanted them. Definitely need to learn more on trolling cranks. Switched to crawler harnesses and 2 oz bottom bouncers and started catching them. Most of the fish were caught in the 18-24 ft depths. Biggest was 24 inches with a pretty good belly but most were between 15-19. Also got quite a few around the 10-12 inch mark. Definitely seems like a good sign for the fishery.

Anybody with any tips on getting into the bigger eyes it would be greatly appreciated. I think trolling cranks is the ticket and I just need to fine tune my skill a little more. We were trolling reef runners and deep tail dancers. It was a good day on the water even if we did get beat up a little by the waves.

any clue on current water temps?
