Lip Ripper wanted me to comment on this. I did ride the 2010 Assault last week and it is not a typical consumer sled, but the 2011 is supposed to be. I’ve got a relative at the Polaris dealer meeting in Vegas this week and he is giving me the rundown on the new Assaults. The 2011 are toned down suspension wise from 2010 and this was much needed. The 2010 Assault gave you tons of confidence to do anything but unless you drop 30 foot cliffs or ride in 4 foot high moguls at high speeds all day this sled in a stock form is over the top.

The 2010 800 motors I rode in the mountains were awesome, electric smooth with plenty of grunt. The power was always there the instant you needed it to get up a hill or out of the powder. There has been lots of discussion about stutters and other problems with the 800 but I am confident Polaris has this worked out. The 2011 is supposed to be even better, not sure of the exact details on HP but I will find out. The fuel consumption was good, I’m sure not as good as the Etec but still better than my 600 carbed engine.

The new Pro Ride Chassis is a bigger improvement than the jump from the Edge to IQ/RAW RMK. The Rush gives you more control, quicker response to rider input and more predictable than previous chassis. Polaris has dumped a ton of money into R&D the last few years and it is paying off.

My riding style is boondocking on fire roads, through the trees, occassional trail riding, and going to the mountains. This is the sled I will get this or next year depending on the finances.

I had similar problems updating my 332 and puck. I found a that my 332 has problems with certain SD cards, it just won’t read them or continues in a reboot mode. I used a different SD card and it worked great after following the Lowrance instructions exactly. Make sure to follow them exactly, when to have the head unit off etc.

Nice report, looks like Lumes must be sick of lobster again.
Let me know when the band is getting back together in Houghton.

Hopefully the wife and I can get up there this weekend to see you and Mrs. Lip Ripper and follow the red tub around.

That is Dan Adams an original Sledneck, very cool guy.

Eric, you are correct, they only plan to build 600’s next year. When asked if there is a longer tracked version coming out they kind of smurked like “wait till you see this”.

Love the sno scoot picture, my thoughts when I first saw it too. After I rode it, no more concerns.

Lip pretty much transcribed my report. It can be a standup style but actually doesn’t need to be. It reacts so well just to your postion on the sled you don’t need to stand up to get it to do what and when you want. Its a typical Polaris predictable handlings with a huge FUN factor. I rode an IQ at the end of ride and as good of a sled as they are it didn’t compare to the Rush. The sled must be ridden to understand.

Definately a WOW, you’ll find yourself watching only HD programming after you get it.

I 2nd the Aluma, good value. You could try Bristow’s in St. Cloud, they have a large stock of trailers.

It is my uncle’s place so I’m a little partial on where to buy.

Congrats to both of you. Its good thing that dance floor must have been made out of fire retardant products because there were several people who were on FIRE out there.

It was also good to meet Sliderfishn in person!

As discouraging as several of these winters have been there is nothing like setting first tracks on a freshly groomed trail or finding a stash of waist deep powder to carve up.

Its a great way out in the middle of the winter and a family sport. Good luck with your decision and think snow, this sport needs some help from Mother Nature right now.

We just got back from Gull and caught walleyes along shorelines in 13-18 ft and on center humps 25-31 ft with red tail chubs, nothing big but caught several each time out.

Let me know how the leadcore works, I’ve pulled deep tail dancers and reef runners with limited success. Gull has so many deep areas I haven’t been able to locate them but they have to be out there.

I’ve definately heard the shots over the bow and they are getting close.

Angela just remember how pretty the new bedroom furniture is and how you need a good guide to get you to spots to kick my butt in fishing. Happy upcoming birthday! .

Lip – Have fun this weekend taste testing wedding cake and picking out center pieces while I’m out fising. A true snowmobiler knows when Hay Days is too

This year I’m gonna avoid the bad batch of beer they seem to get each opener and stick to the smooth seas of “The Captain”.

How much “Rob” time should we figure before you get there? Two drinks and burrito so about 1 hour?

Thanks for the welcome. I’ve been lurking long enough and would like to add back.

My wife Angela has been pushing me since everyone is helpful. Thanks Sliderfishn for offering the help on the Gull back in August.

As Lip Ripper said I’m related to Bristow’s in St. Cloud, the owner is my uncle. I chase Lip around on the water and he is somewhere in my snowdust on the sleds.
