Had you been in Portage Bay I’d say that you caught my pole. Good luck finding the owner.

Soak in Frank’s then roll or shake up chunks in A gluten free mix. My brother needs gluten free and dairy free. His homemade mix is rice flour, baking soda, S&P, egg whites, and gluten free beer.

May 27, 2021 at 8:50 pm #2039460Fun to sit in my office and play something really stupid at the same time a couple days in a row. Gets the barkeep fired up when I complain about that same song.
April 22, 2021 at 3:53 pm #2031831Forgot where I read about the US airlines mask requirements. Because of heavy lobbying, airlines are excluded and are not required to trace passengers positive test results. We really know nothing about the transfer of the virus to other masked passengers. The article went on to describe how Canada does require tracking of positive passengers. It’s like 33% of the flight’s come in from the US. Out of those flights, it was pretty astonishing the amount of at least one passenger testing positive from another passenger. I’ll try to find a link to that article, wondering if anyone else read it.
March 27, 2021 at 10:09 am #2025161I make up taco seasoning in big batches. I go into the Hispanic food section and get a couple different ground chilies and get my cumin seeds there and grind that up. Way different chili profile, not hot at all. I also add white pepper. I also use it for chili.
March 12, 2021 at 8:08 am #2021651Big funnel, cone shaped oil filter from Menards. It will take some patience at the end so grab a beer. You been frying up some fish Mike?
March 12, 2021 at 8:03 am #2021648Best ribs I’ve made so far. Rub in Holy Gospel, saran wrapped overnight. Pellet smoker on high smoke for 3 hours and vacuum bag them up individually. Sous vide for 24 hours. At that point you can keep in the fridge for a few days or freeze for next time, but before serving get the coals going and slather on some of your favorite sauce and carmelize for a couple minutes on both sides. I’m a fan of St. Louis cut. Did 12 racks for the daughter Grooms dinner last fall, couldn’t believe the results.

February 21, 2021 at 5:50 pm #2016647“Any Tommy Bolin fans? The James Gang, Deep Purple & an impressive solo career”
Tommy Bolin grew up a few blocks from where I currently live here in Sioux City IA. He was definitely ahead of his time. Not my favorite, but a top 10 in my book.
December 31, 2020 at 12:07 pm #2001934Most stores will sell the cheaper yellow king crab, pay a few bucks more for the red. Sam’s Club is yellow king crab, but the shell is pre-sliced make extraction easy. We are going to do a huge shrimp/crab bake with a couple friends, maybe $200 worth of Argentine jumbo red shrimp and crab (3 varieties). Going to be epic. We did one in Florida a couple months back, pictured is on of the two pans.

June 26, 2020 at 7:01 pm #1952906Not really special, but I have decided that my new favorite summer drink will be Captain and Ginger Sprite with a squeeze of lime
June 26, 2020 at 5:22 pm #1952881Missing the old days too. Got to know a few, still following a few on FB and sharing some text messages. Funny how some of us from the old days have tightened up our lips, but if anyone were to ask for help it’s given. Put quite a few onto some fish.
June 24, 2020 at 10:51 am #1952291Sous vide is Not even close to a boiling point, best way to get a perfect steak or even a whole prime rib or better yet, a whole NY strip. Results are perfect and does take any brain cells at all.
June 24, 2020 at 6:56 am #1952221Slider, I noticed that also (more of a gelatin consistency) I also save shrimp shells and make a seafood stock for jambalaya. It’s always best to go big, so I went with the 8qt instapot. Sharon, next thing that you need to try is sous vide. Game changer!
May 21, 2020 at 10:10 am #1943881I just put in another order for Meat Church seasonings. Been using Holy Cow and The Gospel, nothing but super impressed so I’m going out a couple others. I order the bags of seasonings more economical.
May 20, 2020 at 8:15 am #1943644Been really happy with my Pit Boss. Made up 7 racks of ribs and 2 1/2 pans of cowboy beans. Towards the end I added a pan of strawberry rhubarb crisp. What a feast.

March 24, 2020 at 10:32 am #1926644Forgot about my delicious St. Patty’s meal. Don’t care much for boiled tators or cabbage, so I did something different. Oven roasted carrots, baby potatoes, and brussel sprouts. Fried cabbage in bacon drippings. Insta pot the corned beef for 70 minutes. Even the wife ate her fill, which she never did before. Made up an extra corned beef for Reuben sammies. Yummy

February 10, 2020 at 9:50 pm #1914230Easy getting around with trucks, like was said, don’t stop on an old fish house drift or road. Good thing we didn’t end up going south from Fishers, could have been bad. Besides a couple toulipee fishing sucked.
January 3, 2020 at 9:57 am #1902966Thanks for that link, guess April is the best month for most species of salt water fish. I’ll continue to look. It’s surprising how varied the pricing is.
December 12, 2019 at 11:31 pm #1897590Got in on a buy 1 get 1 avocado oil in the 1/2 gallon. Don’t recall the price, a small amount goes a long way when pan frying. I’ve been going the air fryer way the past couple years, not much oil frying for me.
November 9, 2019 at 10:00 am #1889949I must say that I’ve never personally met you or Billy, but through your posts I think that I know you as friends. I saying a prayer out loud, and sending the warmth of the Lord’s hand be upon you and the entire family.
September 27, 2019 at 3:20 pm #1881304Why doesn’t Iowa have a professional football team? If they did Minnesota would want one too!

September 23, 2019 at 7:27 pm #1880645Been going to Lake Oahe 7 years straight. 2nd weekend in January up by Mobridge. These next two years will be epic as there’s a lot of tankers moving through the system. Couple trips to NE SD, Spirit Lake Iowa should have some respectable perch now and Okoboji always can be fun for gills.
