Zorinsky was drawn down as soon as possible after the zebra mussels were discovered late in the fall of 2010. Although the draw down was NOT done in order to eliminate unwanted fish, it gave us the perfect opportunity to do that. A rotenone renovation of Zorinsky was done late last summer. Restocking started immediately after the rotenone renovation; a few adult largemouth bass and black crappie as well as thousands of fingerling bass, bluegill and channel catfish were stocked last fall. Fingerling redear sunfish were stocked this spring.

There are plenty of fish in Zorinsky now and the lake had a grand re-opening last Saturday. Almost all of the fish in there are going to be small, for now, but in a couple of years that fishery will be back better than ever.

    Daryl,
Do you know if they are planning on stocking any walleye at Zorinsky? I know they were stocking some Wipers before they drained it, will they be doing that again? Thanks

It was great seeing everyone at the show. The seminars at Bass Pro were pretty good Sunday afternoon also. I managed to walk out of there without spending a ton of money, the wife was proud!

Just curious…… what was the water temp for you?? I need to get out with this full moon coming and to some trolling into the night.

I wish I could go with you. I’m heading to Stillwater in the morning and won’t be back until late Sunday. The water temp was 61 degrees this morning.

Thanks for all the help guys. It works great now. The orange wire was the 24v lead.

I don’t know to much about fishing the mighty mo around Omaha. Access to the river is very tough right now. It has been flooded for most of the summer. Like Ben said, there are some local lakes around here that have some decent catfish in them.

Don’t forget to add a circuit breaker in there.
If you run aground or get it full of weeds it will trip it and save the motor. It could also start a fire if you keep it running if you dont have one……..

Thanks guys! Do you need a circuit breaker if there are inline fuses?

Is the orange wire the 24 volt lead?

Awesome looking rig!! Hope it’s nothing too serious with the problems. That won’t look very good in town on the local lakes here though. People are going to think your lost

I was thinking the exact same thing. It will look out of place on the local Omaha lakes.

I am going to have a Mercury guy take a look at the motors. The main one overheated on me saturday. I replaced the water pump this morning and hopefully it solves the problem. I will feel alot better after a professional looks it over. No offense – Brian!

Looking forward to seeing you Chad. Too bad I gotta work Fri and Sat nights! But I hope to make it up sometime in the afternoon if at all possible so I can see you guys. Be safe in your travels.

It was nice to get on the lake this weekend. Mike and Kris had a great time with you on your boat. I appreciate you taking them out. The Walleye sure did not cooperate, but there is always next weekend We didn’t even try to go out on Johnson saturday, the wind was really blowing hard. Spent some time catching a few crappies in the canal. Kris managed to catch her first ever crappie, saugeye, walleye and white bass this weekend. She is hooked

I talked to the guys at Berkley yesterday and they said that I could bring everyone up to date on the Flicker Shad status. As most of you know, they have been getting more and more difficult to find and the the fear was that they were going to be discontinued. I’m happy to bring to you the news that not only are they not going to be discontinued, they are going to be carried by pretty much every major tackle retailer this next year and for years to come. You’ll start seeing new supplies showing up at the stores as early as December and in full swing by January. The baits are going to increase in price to the $4.00 range (don’t quote me on that), but that’s still much less than other shad baits. This bait has been a heavy hitter in professional walleye fishing since it’s introduction, with 10’s of thousands of dollars won. Just this last year of the tournaments that I know about: top ten finishes in the AIM Saginaw event, first place and other top tens in the Green Bay AIM event, top tens in the Lake Oahe AIM event, contributed to first and second in the FLW tour championship, and contributed to the FLW League championship win. Quite frankly no other bait has come close to these type of finishs. If you haven’t fished a Flicker Shad, you’ve been missing out of some pretty good fish catching! The other GREAT NEWS is that there will be many, many new colors! Some of the colors were designed by Keith and myself, with even more colors designed by some of the retail stores! Here is a preview of one of my favorites, and I’ll give you sneak peeks periodically!

The Scheels store in Omaha had hundreds of them when I was there last week.

Thanks for the time you put into that report. Looks like a great season so far. I haven’t hit the hardwater in Iowa yet this year. Looks like another trip is in store

Damn Chad, too bad that’s also the countdown for you until you won’t have anymore time to fish this year!!

I know! I will be working every game except the VA Tech game this year. I might take that weekend off and do some South Dakota fishing. Also, the Missouri game is on a Thursday night and I should be back for that weekend.

    And Boos –
