Basically the same exact thing but no sighter line or 11’ rod. Usually use a little crappie jig or trout magnet and tight line around undercut banks or deep current spots. When i didnt have the money for a euro rod years ago i would use a 8 foot fly rod and use 25lb mono line as fly line and i did alot better than most guys nymphing with floats. But i like to use spinners in alot of the spots on the creek i fish so a spinning rod works better.

Now thats a setup right there lol double humminbirds and again its so amazing what you can see with side imaging! Ill probably just swap back and forth from the hull transducer and ice transducer when im looking for the spot i want and when im setup. Awesome setup id love to get another unit to do that.

Mptco that might be one of the clearest shots ive ever seen! And being 31.9f clearly it wasnt from the summer. Ive had some pretty good shots of tigers on some stocked lakes with it but nothing that clear! And as far as that beam bender goes i cant see it helping mark structure since with a normal ice ducer it starts bottom at the highest hard surface like a boulder and thats where you sometimes get your false bottoms where it marks bottom a foot up from the real bottom. Ive spun my ice ducer in the hole before to find fish suspended but its never really help with bottom layouts.

Thanks you guys! I was guessing it would work saying i use it for reverse trolling on walleye at slow speeds and i have no problem reading the image i just wanted to make sure i would be able to get an image clear enough that i can make out whats down there. Thanks for the replies im excited to see what i can do with it in some of the had to reach mountain lakes i fish for trout.

I would have to do it with a kayak or canoe that i could hike in 2 miles atleast for some of the spots. Its not an easy walk without the kayaks since its in the adirondacks but theres some good trout and none of the lakes are mapped so i was hoping to make a few maps up there and have more knowledge then anyone has ever had on the lakes. Ive never heard of anyone getting a kayak up there and with the way the trail is in the summer you wouldnt make it 100 yards.

Yeah thats what i was afraid of. Ill probably rig some mount for my canoe and take it over there and graph the spots i fish. Im not going to be that guy drilling 40 holes to find out the best spot is where i already knew it was.

I used a Genz blue-box for my Helix 7… mounted a ram ball in the bottom of the box and another ball on the bow of my boat… this way, I can easily switch from the bow (connected to the MDI transducer on my terrova) to mobile in the Genz box. It gets a bit top-heavy but it is also much easier to see…

How did you put the ram mount on the bottom of the genz box? Im worried the bolts through the bottom will make it rock or wobble.

If your fishing a 1/250th size tungsten… get off your ass and start moving. Theres fish that will eat somewhere.
