I’d call Skeeter Boat Center as well. If only half of the good things I’ve heard are true I’d deffinatly work with them. I run a Ranger right now but I’m lookin hard at the new Skeeter 2000XT. With any luck I hope to be in one by next season . Dan, I hope to be down to see you soon!

Dan would know better, but I think starting they run around 30K. If you fish with four or less guys in the boat you’ll be impressed with the 115 Yamaha. It trolls down great and has a ton of power.

Oh I think I know what I’m talking about ??

Yes you do Kevin! Anyone that knows you won’t argue with that!

I may have my last Lowrance units on my boat now! I have heard very little positive things this year about the new HD units. They better get their problems fixed soon or there will be a lot of lifetime Lowrance users making a change, me being one! I will not buy another if this keeps up!

This is really disappointing to me. I looked forward to each issue coming in the mail and learned a lot when I first started walleye fishing by reading their magazine. I wonder if everyone will get reimbursed? I am fairly certain I still have a couple years left on my subscription!

I just heard that yesterday as well. Can’t wait to see what they came up with and how it will compare to the Humminbird side imaging units. Lowrance didn’t really have a choice in my opinion. They had to do this to compete or else lose out on a lot of money. Gotta love technology!

I’m unfortunately not fishing this weekend, but I talked with Mike yesterday and he said he has good numbers for this weekends tournaments. Sounds like a good way to start the season! Good luck to the guys/gals fishing it!

You should have your friend call the local sheriff’s office if he hasn’t done so yet. Most have lists of lost and found animals and numbers to the local dog catchers. Worth a shot.

I am curious to hear some feedback on them as well. I’m not going to get the 1197, but I have been thinking about adding a 997 to my boat. I have heard that these units won’t interfere with my Lowrance units. Is there truth to that?

I’m not sure if they are listed anywhere, but what I have done in the past is just emailed someone from DNR fisheries in the area you plan to fish with your question. I have always received a quick response with the answers to my questions.

Ouch!! I took my fair share of spills when I was younger and most could have been avoided, but me being the daredevil I was thought I could pull off some them. Luckily, I can say that I was never injured to the point I couldn’t get back on and do it again! Just a lot of bruises and soreness for me.

I have decided against starting that up for now, but am considering seeing how much interest there is for a fall league in 2008. A friend of mine suggested that to me and it sounded like a good idea.

I’ve got the lakemaster chip and like it a lot. The only thing I wish they would have done is made the contour lines in shallow water a little darker. They are quite a bit lighter than the deep water. Maybe there is a way to change that??

I had a seat come out of a base once and luckily I was sitting towards the middle of the boat and didn’t go over. I had a couple bumps and bruises, but it could have been worse. I surely don’t want to have it happen again!!

I haven’t seen Crosby or Duluth’s, but I have seen the show in Garrison a few years back and it was spectacular. I haven’t been there since, but I would guess it is about the same. We sat in a boat in Garrison Bay and watched them right over our heads.

I fished Pelican near Brainerd with my father and brother and we did well. We fished from 8:30 am to 11:00 am and kept 9 between 14 and 18.5 inches and then decided to go in and fry up our catch!

How was the Garrison or Myr Mar public accesses? Anyone have problems at either location with a bunk trailer?

I too think the minnow rap is going to be a great one, but if I could only choose one, as of now I would go with a shallow running husky jerk. They can be fished at all depths and I have had some great days on the water with them.

I can’t get it to work either and have never had any problems viewing it since they have had it.

Those were some great pictures Bob! I have a 10 month old boy and I am really excited to introduce him to fishing. It looks like he had a great time!

I got lucky about a month ago at the Rogers Cabela’s. While I was there they put up a clearance sale for last years model at 35% off. I picked insulated bibs and a jacket for $280! I think I saved about $125 on the deal. To top it off, when I went to the register to pay they gave me a really nice storage bag that retails at $70. I was looking at getting a set before the sale, but that sealed the deal!

That Cole is something else!! He has come along with Corey and I a couple times and has more patience and skill than most kids in their mid teens. The kid is being taught well by his dad and is always welcome in my boat. It won’t be long and he will be teaching his dad a thing or two!

Thanks Rob, I have luckily only had that happen once and when I reconnected and brought it outside it was fine so I thought that was the problem! Oh well, I tried!

Ok, maybe it was the disconnecting and reconnecting that made it work for me then because it wouldn’t work in the garage for me and I got the “gps module not responding” message on my screen and after pulling the boat out of the garage and reconnecting the cable it worked fine. Thanks for clarification!

Where have you been trying to use the unit? If you have been using it in a garage you may want to try pulling it out of the garage so you get a better signal and no interferrence from the roof. I have had that happen before. Matt

    Brian,
Browsing your mmc cards will just show you what chips you have in your unit if i’m not mistaken. As far as downloading upgrades for your locator you can get the upgrades off the manufacturers website. At least with the Lowrance you can, not real sure about others. You will need a mmc card with enough free space for the upgrade and a card reader for your computer. If I misread this and you are trying to upgrade your Lakemaster chip I’m not real sure you can do that. If you can I would like to know how because I am planning on buying the new chip tomorrow at the show!
