I have dealt with this in the past and unfortunately there is no magic answer. The steps we took are mostly already mentioned. Get a restraining order but rember it is just a piece of paper. In my case my wife was issued an emergency permit to carry by the Hennepin Co. Sherrif and she eventually had to take the course to make it permanent. Also all of her co workers and people that she surrounds herself with should be aware of the situation and should know that her personal details shouldnt be shared with anyone. The truth is that ultimately she will have to make her safety her responsiblility. All interactions should be recorded for law enforcement purposes but it takes quite a bit before action can be taken. In my case the individual gave up and left the state. I pray he never comes back. This issue is harder to deal with than some people realize. Good luck to her and her family. Stay diligent.

For all the years I have gone, I have outfitted myself, but Canoe Country Outfitters in Ely has helped us with permits, tow boats, and sleeping in the bunk house. They area a great local family that have been good to us, even though we don’t use their gear.

Ive used Canoe Country Outfitters for the last 8 years. Never had an issue. Mark or Bob will take good care of you and there route planning and advice are second to none.

I have a standing rule that none of my dogs are allowed outside while I run the snowblower. Anyone else?
I saw two people in the hood yesterday that had dogs running around playing while they cleared snow. It made ny wife and I me cringe.

x2! I have a lab and gsp and neither one are allowed outside when I am clearing snow, cutting grass, tilling or weed wacking. There’s no reason for the dogs to be around when equipment is being operated.

Grouse is the winner! Short version is it referred to Scottish Protestants.

I’m neither Scottish or Protestant but everyone still calls me a redneck.

I bought a 6061 last year. They only came in right hand. The handle was on the left side of the reel body. I had to take it apart and flip the one way bearing to turn it so that the handle was on the right side. The reels marked left handed should have the handle on the right side.

I would let them stay in the sleeper and I would get a room at the Sportsman’s Lodge. I would show up to the shack every morning well rested.

I only use two knives on my deer. I use a Outdoor Edge Flip N’Zip for field dressing and skinning. Their customer service is second to none.

All of my butchering is done with one knife. I don’t know the name but I bought it from DeerDummy.com. It is made in Portugal and I swear by it. I only sharpen once a season after that it only needs a hone. It has the perfect amount of flex for boning but enough backbone to get the job done. I’ve been using mine since 2008 and I’ve cut around 20 deer with it. I sure there are other great knives out there but this one is great and the price is decent.

I bought two of these cameras this year and I have the exact same problem. With no reciept I think I’ll just send them back and see what happens. They are so bad that I’d rather risk losing them than having them sitting around tweeking my nerve. They are worthless, may as well take a chance.

That’s not fair. You know darn good and well that if you put “view at your own risk” in the subject line that we will all have no choice but to click on the link. And also, OUCH!!

My dog was on it at 9 months. I had her professionally trained and she was conditioned to the collar as part of that training. It worked very well for her and she actually gets exicted to put it on because it means we’re going to do something fun. I rarly use it anymore as just having her wear it is enough. I remember in the user manual it discussed minimum age of use but I can’t remember what it was. 6 months maybe?

I asked myself the same question a million times. My girl is now 2yrs old. I can’t tell if she has settled down some or I’m just used to it but things seem way less crazy than they used too. I think the previous post was right about all dogs being different but in my case I let the dog tell me when she was done.

I fished pool 4 for the first time on Saturday. I had a blast. I can’t remember being in water that crowded before and I was apprehensive at first. Once I got in and started catching fish I settled down and started having fun. When I was dragging there were a few times that several boats came buzzing by but in my opinion for that many boats in that tight of an area most people were very considerate. I’d rather deal with a busy Saturday on pool 4 than a bunch of skiers and tubers on a lake.

BTW.. service at Everts was great. Brian, it was a good to meet you and your advice was spot on. I didn’t however land that 30″ walleye I was looking for.

I need help i put the reel to right retrieve but when I reel there is a noice somewhat like the clicker but it isn’t.

I’m just offering this as a possibility, I don’t know for sure. When you flip the anti reverse collar one side is smooth, the other is not. BSully23 reports that Matt at 13 Fishing says that this is ok and won’t affect function. I noticed some very minor rubbing on mine once the conversion was made. I wonder if the sound is the flipped edge rubbing against the bearing that sits against the anti reverse collar. If this is the case it should polish itself smooth with use. Without seeing the reel I can’t say for sure but I believe that is what is going on with mine. On my reel it is so minor that other people don’t even notice it until I point it out. It does not affect free spool mode which is silky smooth. For what it’s worth, I hope this helps.

Just a comment, I don’t ever remember seeing a thread where everybody agrees with each other

Hate to do this but I disagree. I have both. I prefer the Buddy over the Big Buddy because it’s lighter, has a smaller footprint in the shelter and in my thermal it still gets too hot sometimes. I only use the Big Buddy for late fall camping and deer camp. The Big Buddy will however kick out more heat if that’s what you prefer.

I can’t speak to split grips on ice rods as I have never used them. I do use them on my bass rods with baitcasters. For me it has nothing to do with strike detection as I can feel it equally with both styles. For me the issuse is comfort. After 8 hrs+ of casting I am less fatigued using a split grip. Does this factor into ice fishing?… beats me!

I picked up one at the Ice Show and could not be happier with it. I spent 15 or 20 minutes talking to Matt Baldwin. From what I can tell he is more than willing to back up his product. He even offered to convert mine free of charge because I am a lefty. I ended up doing it my self but I firmly believe that if anyone has an issue he will work hard to make things right.

Matt and the guys at 13 Fishing are top notch. Matt offered to make the conversion for me but after reading your post I decided to try it myself. Good job on the post! I was able to do the conversion myself in just a few minutes. Thanks for the info!
