I have numerous Elliot rods and have been pleased with most of them. The up side is they have a more moderate to fast action in their blanks then others. I do not like extra fast rods and many companies seem to have more of them then other blanks. The honest downside is I did not like the rods with the “Hidden handle”
reel seats. Make sure you get the performance handles. Very sensitive and I feel the blanks are as strong as any I have used.

You balance out the weight of the float with your jig and sinkers….They have awesome displays at Superior Angler.
Some use braided line as the main line and then attach fluorocarbon leader via a small swivel. I like floating mono with a fluorocarbon leader.

Most guys/gals that float fish use fixed cylindrical floats….often made of balsa but can be other materials. These are attached to the line via silicone sleeves. Some do use slip bobbers which are ok…but not as sensitive as the fixed floats. The fixed floats seem to follow the current seams better.

The river opens from Hwy 2 north on the last Saturday in March. There will be a large variety of fishermen and techniques, so a spinning rod is not a sin. That weekend is usually the busiest 2 days on the Brule most of the season. Be nice to others and they will be nice to you. I will be there float fishing spawn and waxies.

There are many YOU Tube videos on ways to tie your laces so they will not come undone. I don’t know how to explain which method I use but the laces never come untied and stay tight.

Randy, 24 hour care of a loved one is one of the most difficult things a person can do. You are a Godsend to your parents with unwavering love for them and your family. Remember….forgive, never forgotten, I love you, I will be alright and Rest in peace. I have been a Hospice RN for nearly 25 yrs. Thank you for accepting the “extra” assistance they can offer. Lean on them if needed after your fathers passing. God Bless you!
    Chris

Every pair of Fish Monkey gloves I own have been great. In fact, I have a 6 yr old pair of Yeti gloves which after heavy use show little wear and tear. Found a 50% off deal at Marine General and bought another pair to start using in about 10 yrs….

Fishing steelhead on a local stream. Felt some pressure so set the hook. Fish is running all over the hole and staying down. Finally got the right angle and the “fish” came up easily. Hooked a full can of Mountain Dew right by the pull tab.

2nd week of October can be very good for all types of fishing. We need some rain…if that happens…trolling and casting off of all area river mouths should be excellent for cohos, steelhead, browns and splake. The rivers will also have fish in them to fish from shore. Smallmouth bite will only improve from now on with water temps finally falling. Wind is the big factor to bring up your boat and fish. Hiring a guide may be your best decision…but not necessary

I fish the Brule Spring and Fall. I would recommend at least a 9’6″ medium light or medium rod. I use a 10’6″ which is a happy medium for float fishing and hardware. Many float fishermen are using 12 ft rods.

Roottwo, this has been the case in northern WI where I have taken care of two cases of people with CJD whom had post mortem brain biopsies and both were suspected from eating deer infected with CWD.
