We had 48 hours taken away from our PTO and put into this bank of sick days. So we didnt gain anything.

Maybe before tossing around a bunch of hypothetical Walleye regulation options, we should identify what it is we are trying to fix. Generally, that is how regulation changes are made. Is there a problem with the existing regulation? Is that problem affecting quality size, overall abundance, recruitment, spawning stock…..? If so, then select a regulation type that best addresses that specific problem.
The current proposal seems to have skipped step one.

Now why would we want to bring logic and science into the argument? -) I dont much care what the limit is because its extremely rare for me to keep a limit of fish unless I am coming from Canada or LOW. I know the regs are frustrating because each lake may have different regs, but maybe they should or need to based on all of what you said which I believe is what you are getting at. There is no one size fits all. Many lakes are put and take lakes with no natural reproduction and those lakes need to be treated differently than a natural reproducing lake that does not get stocked.

My son is headed up there with a friend of his this week and they plan to ice camping for the first time ever. Thankfully temps will be moderating from where they have been, but I told him, multiple propane tanks, multiple heaters, a carbon monoxide detector, etc are all a must. I think I sent him to check out Nitti’s based on what I have been reading, but people are getting fish just about everywhere. I figured that would give them options of structure to fish.

These things have an orbital/planetary or whatever they call that kind of gearcase right? Wonder what, if any lube they use in there. Perhaps it was froze up. Seems odd that it would happen. It should be built to handle those temps regardless but hopefully this was just a one off issue. It certainly doesnt appear to be widespread but most people are sitting in front of a fire now. LOL

    vs what I bring up…

Like bringing up people from a different fan base trashing a guy that we just traded for and has played in what 4 or 5 NHL games for us and seems like a perfect fit where he is playing? OK, gotcha. I think we have come full circle now. I just picture this wheel of things to complain about that you spin and this week it keeps falling on Jiricek. Next it will probably be the strength and conditioning or training staff for not clearing players fast enough or catching these setbacks sooner. That would be a round for the ages.

^^^Can’t tell if that’s at me?? I thought I was agreeing with you

It was at you and I knew you were, but maybe I worded it poorly LOL.

Wild clearly matching up Faber and Middleton against Mackinnon, and Bednar just putting him out for every O-zone faceoff like usual

They most certainly were, which made what Joe was getting at that much laughable in his initial post basically intimating that if Jiricek was stuck on the ice that Bednar chose NOT put put his most talented guys out there. He would put them out there regardless of who was on the ice IMO and the Wild just got lucky we didnt get stuck very often. I am pleased with how Jiricek is playing. I didnt have much for expectations because I hadnt seen him play but figured garnering a #6 overall draft slot even CBJ couldnt be that bad or could they?

Maybe you should elaborate your points and stop editing your posts to add/remove detail to try and dunk on people. We dont read tea leaves around here and your point about Jiricek is getting borderline annoying and creepy. At least you are infatuated about that for now instead of the MANY other things you seem to latch onto for days until you see something more glittery and go after that. How about go back to the offsides challenge or puck over glass or cross checks in front of the net. We havent heard those in a bit.

I (we) are old enough to remember the first time it ever happened back when I believe Arne Carlson cancelled it statewide.

I remember this well. It was while I was in college at Bemidji State. The cold we experienced then is on a completely different level than this cold snap. We honestly didnt even get above zero for almost a month. The one morning I woke up because I had to call in when there was bad weather to work (drove cold weather test vehicles for Chrysler) and pulled up the local channel and it was -58. Regular air temp, not wind chill. My GMC was parked outside unplugged and I figured I better try and start it. Started right up. Decided to take it for a drive and went past volkswagon, Ford and Mercedes engineering facilities and they had jump boxes everywhere. I just laughed and honked my horn.

pretty sure the game was played in Colorado and they had the choice of what line to put out when Jiricek was on the ice for draws right? Yes, of course Jiricek’s limited minutes has an impact on that, not sure what young D-man in the league (other than a handful) would purposely get that matchup from his team?…The hate is online from non Wild fans saying he’s a bust and the Wild overpaid for him…

So the home team gets to decide who goes out for faceoffs in the offensive zone and if given the choice they chose NOT to put their top players out there when a flat footed giraffe is on the ice? OK, we have reached a new level.

And I wouldn’t say WD is exactly blasting or hating – just pointing out and explaining examples of why the kid needs to work on his footwork.

Said better than I did obviously. He has some work to do, but he isnt Clayton Stoner for crying out loud.

I guess besides wormdunker I’m failing to see who is really blasting his skating. At the time of the trade that was talking from pundits but I haven’t seen or heard much lately. I think you are being the old man who yells at clouds.

I cannot say I have heard of that problem before, but you are right you shouldnt need to keep the whole unit inside.

Can you imagine the outrage if it was Jiricek who ate $hit on the MacKinnon goal last night instead of Middleton?

Who would this outrage be coming from? I dont think getting burned by a player of his caliber hardly warrants pitch forks. He was essentially shut down the rest of the game.

The clunky feet and skating was always in reference to his defense

That is what I was hearing too. Not in reference to forwards, but mainly the transition to backwards/defending.

Threw a glass of boiling water in the air this morning. That never gets old.

Perch will never be a fish that I get excited about.

Good. Keep going after your grass carp and leave probably the best eating fish to the rest of us.

It’s one thing to be a scientist and it’s another to be a scientist who follows or properly interprets the science. Haven’t we experienced a very recent example of this that literally affected everyone?

Because humans are pretty bad at understanding science and the natural world, we adopt all sorts of wild theories that fly in the face of scientific evidence.

Very interesting. I wonder where I heard this before.

Mine was $75. I bet it has a lot to do with what county you guys are in. Throw a rock over the river from me into Benton county and taxes are way higher.
