    Hey Snakeyes,

Will throw my 2 cents worth in here too..I really like my Bass Pro Shops Bionic Blades for jigging of all types..I have 4 of them..A 6’6″ med. action spinner for vertical jigging and 3 waying with heavier jigs, a 6’6″ medium light for pitching smaller jigs (is a great smallie rod too) and have 2 baitcasters (6’6″ med. and 7′ med. heavy) for pulling cranks on 3 ways to chunkin’ bucktails for toothy things..The rods are great values when you buy 2 or more at a time and do everything with great sensitivity and strength..They have gone to top quality Fuji guides that are fantastic..Like all of my rods, I have these set up with my own version of “the Balancer” kits..I just stack up quarters and start out with masking tape to get the proper weight distribution, but once acheived, I finish it off with electricians tape to make them look nice..Even have a red, white and blue theme on a couple of the outfits..

    Hope that this helps..

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for the posts..About time we get the temps down where they should be at this time of year..Last weekend the temp was still in the low to mid 50’s down here below #16..Should do nothing but improve from here on out..

    Thanks again for the info..

A buddy and I do this when the river freezes up and it’s too darn nasty to go out..We like Mustad hooks and he has a mold for the stand up style of jigs that we use a lot down here..He even took a 1 oz. jig mold and routed it out to yeild a 1 1/4 oz. jig that we need sometimes down here at LnD #16 when they really get to flowin’ the river..Ditto on the exhaust fan and 2 coats of primer when going with chartruse or brighter colors of jigs..Need to make or find some sort of rack for drying the jigs..Old coat hanger will work in a pinch..

    Rock On…

    Hey James,

Just curious as to how you run your 3 ways..Are you running a sinker on the bottom of the 3 way or using a jig??Down here around LnDam 16 we will use a jig anywhere from 1/2 to 1 1/4 ozs. depending upon where we’re fishing and the current flow..We plunk a big ol’ crawler on that bottom jig with a stinger (at least a #8 hook size) and run a floater or plain hook (I like the Gamakatsu red Octopus) and run either a shiner or the biggest fathead I can get on that plain hook..Is this similar to what you are running??

    Thanks for the reply..

    Hey Dirk,

No matter what reel you put on the rod, do yourself a favor and try this little trick..Start with a stack of about $3.00 worth of quarters and use masking tape to tape them in-line with the end of your rod handle..Grab your rod where you would normally hold it while fishing and check for balance..Add or subtract quarters until the rod balances perfectly in your hand-not tip or butt heavy..What I do to finish this off is wrap them tightly with electrical tape so they won’t come loose..You will find that you can cast or jig all day with less fatigue and you’ll always have change on hand for a phone call or a burger on the way home..Try it!!You’ll like it!!

    Hey All,

What do you all think that this front that is moving through on Wednesday night will do to the fishing for the weekend..Wind has to be blowin’ at LEAST 30 to 40 mph out there!!
