    DaveG,
I agree with your coments. I think I will save my money and find a good sturdy block of wood. Thanks all for the input.

The web page actually call it a motor support, not a transom saver. That was my interpretation when I first saw it. I just thought it would be nice to keep the motor up when trailering without making the trim/tilt support the weight of the motor.

    Suzuki,
I just experienced a similar problem. My trolling motor/locator is a 24 V system and after using the motor for less than 2 hrs it was reading 12 V and the motor would no longer work, only the locator. I was thinking of having the batteries tested (replaced?) also but I am interested in the response you get. If you solve the problem send me a PM and let me know. Good luck!!

I used to live in Madison and I did not have one for my 14′ boat. If you travel out of the state often you may want to get one. If for no other reason than to NOT be stopped along the way.

The Crestliner comes with a 60 hp Merc 4 stroke and the Alumacraft comes with a 70 hp Yamaha 2 stroke. I have an old Evinrude kicker that I can use for trolling if needed. My understanding is that they are both good motors. Are there motors to avoid ? At this point I am leaning towards the Crestliner because of the larger casting deck and more “usable” space becasue of the smaller gunnel.

Many thanks to all who posted, although my decision is not any easier. Both seem like great boats at resonable prices. Maybe it will come down to customer service?

I just got a price quote from Nelson Marine on a New 2004 Magnum 165SC, WOW I have to think that there is ’04 inventory that needs to be moved quickly. Alumacraft is offering money back on both ’04 and ’05. I agree it is a great time to buy, especially with the low interest rates.

Just the news I need to hear. I am almost ready to buy a boat but I may wait for the “aggressive” promotions

Any advice on catching walleye at Big Creek? I usually fish Brushy and never been to Big Creek. Thanks.
