    I agree that it is probably not a Golden Eagle, but I am pretty sure that it is not a juvenile Bald either. I see the latter every weekend at our duck slew, and they are much darker and have a skinnier head. After a little research I think I have narrowed it down to the following short list, all are birds present in MN
    1. Northern Harrier
    2. Broadwinged Hawk
    3. Goshawk
    whatever it was/is, it was big and cool to watch.

    thanks, I hope i have some more worth while info to contribute.
    As far as sitting near Cal….you get used to the smell.

    we used those colapseable fiberglass tent poles to make ours. the ends fit in holes on the gunwales, and then we just used clothes pins to attach camo fabric. simple, effective, and quick to put up and take down.
