This was what the humminbird customer support team sent me when I asked if I’d lose any functions on my unit since it has down imaging.

Well they do have the older ICE 35,45, and 55 but they recently came out with an Ice Helix 7 specifically for ice fishing. It has what they call “dualbeam PLUS ICE 83/200 transducer” not sure if it’s the same as the Xi920 or not. BUT I believe that I’m limited to one beam if I buy the Xi920 because my unit has down imaging. If it was just the sonar gps version than I could buy the Xi920 and have full functioning capability (although it sound like the Ice Helix 7 transducer is improved)

That was my first option but when I ordered it I realized my helix 7 transducer was much too long for that style bracket unfortunately.Which transducer shield did you try because I am pretty sure they have an updated one for the new style DI transducer.
I got the ssc-3. They only had the two options when I ordered from Bass Pro Shops, regular style or puck style but the Helix transducer is much longer and slimmer than the one meant for that particular shield.

Really the heavy duty option would be to get the actual trolling motor transducer for the unit.
I believe that to be (XTM 9 DI 25 T)You may be able to exchange it with humminbird for a few extra bucks.
Do you know what the plastic one is called?

November 14, 2015 at 7:40 am #1577133What size lightning and slender spoons do you recommend?? Any preference in colors??
November 13, 2015 at 7:15 am #1576950They might have upgraded the reel since I bought a Croix rod and reel combo about 5 years ago, but at that point, I was extremely disappointed in the reel. The rod was exactly what I was looking for.
I think they have, I bought one last year and was impressed with reel and rod. The reel had a pretty cool feature where the handle was collapsible without the need to loosen the knob.
November 13, 2015 at 5:54 am #1576945I’m thinking I’ll get a St. Croix Premier medium 32″ rod and reel combo since I’m not a pro ice fisherman and don’t need a $90 rod.

Various sized Swedish pimples and slender spoonsNovember 12, 2015 at 8:13 pm #1576891Many good tips. Anyone use braided line connected to 24″ of fluorocarbon with a swivel??
November 12, 2015 at 7:24 pm #1576882I’ll probably mostly be in an ice shack. I forgot to add spoons but I do plan on getting some of those as well.
October 7, 2015 at 11:41 am #1569404Thanks to all for the advice and knowledge on this product. I chose to get the 688ci hd combo all rigged up for the ice. Can’t wait for the hard water to get here.

October 3, 2015 at 9:43 am #1568825The one I was looking at comes with the ice transducer but on the website they sell them separately and fit certain models.
October 1, 2015 at 3:45 pm #1568667Yes that does help actually quite a bit. I don’t know if I’d really be using it in the summer much, I’d mostly be using it for ice fishing. But if I’m in a heated ice shack and decide to go outside or move then I can see where that would make a difference if the screen fogs up like that. Thanks for the help.
