On another note, looking thru the Alumacraft website I noticed the 185 Competitor tiller is rated for 175 HP. How can that be?

Mike Baker makes rod holders out of plastic lattice. I tried it and it works great!

I too did the lattice method above the boat. So simple to do and works great !

A product called Wipe New made by Rustoleum may be worth a try on that plastic. It works great on the plastic trim on cars.
If you know who the manufacturer of the brake system/ actuator, try PacificTrailers.com. I purchased mine from here last year good prices and excellent service. I have a Lund (shoreland’r) trailer that had a UFP brake system.

I have a 2008 1825 Pro Guide with a 90 Yami. Great boats. Feel free to PM any questions.
Pat,
Thanks very much for the info. One more question, what pitch and kind of prop are you running ?
Pat,
You are running the boat I am looking to buy !
I was also curious about the pro tiller steering in tight navigational situations. Good to see everyone is happy with it. It does look like it would definitely take some getting used to. I have some questions with regard to the combination you are running that I hope you can answer.
1) how does that 150 steer and handle with the system off ?
2) Does Pro tiller need two batteries like Merc suggests for their system ?
3) Is VTS available on the 150 SHO ?
4) What kind of speed are you getting with the SHO ?
5) Do you have trim tabs and are trim tabs required on that set up ?
Your feedback is appreciated.
Thanks
I purchased an Edge 3 this past summer. The transducers are difficult to mount and set up. I found I needed to play around with them a lot to find the balance between getting no rooster tail and good high speed performance. I ended up with a slight rooster tail on my Lund. Really no worse than I had with Lowrance.
I have them about 2 inches apart. Vexilar has a installation video on their website but I found some parts of the video deceiving, especially the downward angle on the rear of the transducer. The instructions say 2 to 5 degrees but if you were to follow the video, which I initially did, the angle is much steeper than that. After I foloowed the video, you needed a rainsuit at the back of my tiller boat from the rooster tail! Use the attached instruction as your guide, not the video. http://www.vexilar.com/pages/support/support_tips/article_002.html
The transducer mounting is more difficult than a Lowrance, but once done, the Edge 3 is simply fantastic, I couldn’t be happier with it!
