Thanks for the leads. Hoping it is just the color. Been hot last couple days.

The choker loop traps are the best I’ve ever used. Much better than the spear type traps.

I would second the ranger nets from tacklewarehouse.com. Heavy duty build and cheap compared to most.
X2…I’m pretty sure mine is indestructible. At $50 or so, it is a bargain. Made in USA also.
March 22, 2013 at 11:38 am #1155009I have a ranger tour series and it’s built like a tank and in the USA. I think I got mine from tacklewarehouse.com for about $50.
Collapses completely and also has an extendable handle.
March 9, 2013 at 2:19 pm #1150115I noticed a buzzard sailing around yesterday….an old farmer told me once that after you see your 1st buzzard, you will have only 1 more snowfall. Been pretty accurate over the last few years.
March 7, 2013 at 10:17 pm #1149524I have an ’06 Arctic Cat 650H1. Never had a problem with it. Bought it used from an older guy that lost his job and needed cash. It had 198 miles on it and was 2yrs old. Prob. wouldn’t buy a used one from someone 30 or younger…I can still remember how I treated stuff from my <30yr days.
March 1, 2013 at 4:14 pm #1147408My wife was laughing when Jase and Willy were discussing the reunion and Willy said only change was his facial hair and Jase said “and about a hundo”. I think she likes the show more than I do….

Darn near every roof in my neighborhood has been replaced. None of them leaked and none looked damaged. Roofing scam. They told people to reference a storm date to replace substandard tar paper shingles. AND they wouldnt give you a price. They wanted everything the insurance company offerered which was more than the job was worth. Some of these guys are still running around town replacing roofs when they should be in jail.
Things like that increase all of our rates.
I will say that some roofs look fine from the ground but do have storm related damage. You have to be on the roof to see it….typically hail(if that is what you are talking about) does not make a roof leak…unless it is softball size. Hail fractures the exposed shingle pad, but there is still another shingle under this to shed the water. Not gonna leak, but is damaged.
If the insurance company is paying for undamaged roofs…that is the fault of itself.
February 22, 2013 at 6:40 pm #1144847Never hurts to shop around. I’m in the insurance industry and I do it every other year.
Each company has a different underwriting philosophy…you just never know whose philosophy matches up with you best. You will be able to tell when company x and company y offer the same policy to you for a different price. The ‘matchup’ may be reversed for your neighbor…who knows.
But I do know that without checking it out you will never know.
Good luck with your search…I hope it works out for you.
Another thing that is funny. If you are on the east coast, they say their rates go up because of midwest storms…same with the west coast. If you are in the midwest, its the dang hurricanes on the east and wildfires on the west. ha ha.
February 22, 2013 at 2:12 pm #1144749Most of your coastal states within so many miles of the shoreline have to purchase wind coverage seperate from their basic policy. This wind coverage is usually purchased from a state owned insurance coverage…at least it was like this in Florida during the 2004 hurricanes and mississippi in 2005 for katrina. If I remember most of the wind policies in these areas are 20% deductibles and non replacement cost and EXPENSIVE.
I would agree that we probably have no more storms now than we did 5-7yrs ago. The thing that has changed is the cost of repairing a home now vs. 5-7 yrs ago. Cost of 1sq of roofing has doubled in the last 3 yrs in my area. These costs get passed down to the consumer…Just like most products you buy.

You’re not a kidding!!!
February 15, 2013 at 6:29 pm #1142319I just got out of my friend’s brand new 2013 with 247miles.
We just went on a small road trip and it appears if you are the type that drives little hard you aren’t going to see much of a mpg improvement, but if you are the type that drives speed limit or <5over and doesn’t have to beat the guy off the light, you are going to see mpg gold!!!
On the way up he was rodding on it pretty good and was getting 15mpg and on the way home we took our time and just cruised and got 20.3 mpg.
February 14, 2013 at 1:40 pm #1141727I was more thinking the “cheap route” as I clean fish in about 3 different locations. My garage, buddy’s garage, or my kitchen(when momma not home anyway) and thought it would be easier to have one in each location than packing around a single.

There are two flashers on Iowasportsman.com right now. One vex and one marcum.
I couldn’t get the guy to call me back, but maybe you would have better luck.
one was a FL18 for $300 and other was a marcum lx3 for $200.
I ended up getting a HB ice35 from blaines FF for $240 this morning. Maybe they them….
May 4, 2012 at 7:48 pm #1065760I worked at a Marina while I was in highschool. We would have a sailboat get hit occasionally. Sometimes the “exit hole” would be below water line so we would have to watch during storms and check them. There always seemed to be an exit hole. It was pretty cool…esp since it was a blow boat.
April 9, 2012 at 8:52 pm #1057207Oh…Here’s some proof that the escort works. I have to brag a little on my buddy. He is 10yo and after 2 unsuccessful years and 4 missed opportunities, it all come together for him yesterday morning. I was beginning to wonder if it ever would. His 1st turkey killed during Iowa’s youth season….
April 9, 2012 at 8:44 pm #1057199I have 2 “dedicated” turkey guns. One is a Winchester 1300 fully camo, xf, rifle sights, scope, blah, blah, and the other is a Knight TK2000. Both are fairly light. Wish the Knight was heavier because it patterns best with 120gr ffg power. It will rock you.
I currently use neigher of these guns…I currently use a black syn Escort 12ga. with a standard full choke. I guess I’m back to simplicity. Get ’em inside 30 yards, bead on melon, BAM!…game over.

Breaking the law!
Breaking the law to “restock” his yard??? Sadly, you are probably right….
March 22, 2012 at 5:24 pm #1051516I picked up about 40 doz the other night. I have all my boxes in the garage fridge at 45degrees. I won’t feed mine for a few months…and then sparingly.
I empty my boxes every 2 weeks to “fluff” the bedding and remove any dead ones. Don’t get many dead ones and they stay alive all summer.
The guy that give me these pointers, will release his leftovers in October when he’s done fishing….he normally picks up around 65doz.
The ‘fat-n-sassy’ bedding has been the best. Couldn’t keep mine alive in the walmart stuff.
May 3, 2011 at 9:33 pm #963058I have video of a treble being “line trick” extracted from side of my head. Not sure what was worse….the hook or the 1oz jigging spoon smacking me in the noggin after the fish “threw” it at me.
September 15, 2010 at 8:40 pm #75354Why not just ask the man?
Gene,
Thank you for bringing the website to my attention. There are many people named Brad Krause in Wisconsin, most of which are not me. There’s a TV anchor, Internet sports reporter, engineer (electrical, I think), musician, and a TV personality with a different name that I’m told I look like. I don’t know any of them personally, although I did talk to the engineer–it’s an odd feeling to talk with someone of the same name, about the same age, body type, hair color, with a similar education, who only lives a few miles away.
That’s not an exhaustive list, either. I have the distinct feeling there are a lot more Brad Krauses out there.
Regarding the information on the website, you can Google most any name and find “something.” I wasn’t married until recently, and hadn’t lived with anyone prior to that. (The wife and I are doing fine, by the way.) I don’t have any money judgements against me, although the West Allis court case was rather draining. Several people named Brad Krause owe child support, but I don’t have any kids. I also was not the one that caught that really big fish.
If you do relay part or all of this letter, please include the fact that I am not a “civil rights activist” or something to that nature. I see comments similar to this on Internet forums and newspaper comment sections, but don’t have any of that background to help me. I’m an average guy who wants to be safe, just like everyone else. The section in your email about “this could be you” is really true, I never expected anything like this to happen, especially not while planting a tree–that one still gets me.
If people have questions they can always send me an e-mail. The one I get most often is probably, “Did you get your gun back?”
Hope this clears things up,
Brad KrauseBrad’s email is at the bottom of the original post.
Please be more careful about what you say about people who you do not personally know. I do personally know Brad, Google doesn’t.
June 5, 2009 at 10:34 pm #781851I have a 2 bank onboard charger. It is a Minnekota MK210. I leave the batteries plugged in at times unless I’m fishing, of course.
May 27, 2009 at 10:17 pm #779763Not me….I’m in one of those horrible cycles where I have to work when the sun is out and it’s pouring rain during playtime. I have got to get my priorities straight. I haven’t heard of any hot bites unless your fish for crappies.
May 13, 2009 at 1:17 am #776233That’s what I’m hoping….although some of the rockpiles that I know exist are not on the map(along with a few great humps), but I guess that is a good thing when there is not a shortage of fishing boats.
May 10, 2009 at 6:30 pm #775466I have a stihl fs45. I think I paid $150 for it new last year. It’s a reliable unit.
May 7, 2009 at 12:17 pm #774675Great News! Keep it coming! Your wife turned off the “walky talky” yet?? “Hey breaker, breaker-Can I get some coffee and breakfast?”

Yep! My first boat years ago had the same type of choke. I would always pump the fuel bulb from the tank and let it crank over a couple of time before hitting the choke. Then I would only choke it for a couple of seconds. Once you figure out what it takes you’ll get it started everytime. Also, once mine was warmed up I didn’t need to choke it the rest of the day.
X2!
April 26, 2009 at 1:20 pm #771170Have I not explained my question right?? I figured someone would have some experience.
If my question does not make sense, let me know if I need to rephrase.
Thanks.
