There are still spots available at Ballards… is anyone on here looking for a lodging partner? Seeing the minimum is two people. I would be willing to do the “fish with us” or “fish on your own” package. I am 25, non-smoker, very out going & easy to get along with, I’m a hole hopping kind of guy. I would be coming from Central WI (Marshfield, WI), so we can meet & share a ride or just meet at the resort. I have everything we’d need: a Otter XT1200 Cabin (2 person), two vexilars, auger, can bring a ATV or Snowmobile. You’d just have to bring poles & your basic essentials. I am also considering stopping at Red Lake for a day of fishing on the way home, if that would be of interest or if we share a ride. text or call 715-323-3255, my names Brad, feel free to leave a message & i’ll get back to you.

That really sucks! I was really looking forward to attending & doing the fish with us package, but my buddy bailed on me at the last minute. I was just going to ask someone on here if they were looking to for a partner or someone to lodge with yet. I’m going to look myself, but does anyone off hand know of close places a guy could lodge at for those nights?

    Thanks,

    Brad

Haven’t fished it a whole lot, but its a Category 5: Daily Bag limit of 2 trout, minimum length of 12″ & Season is open May 3rd to March 1st. There are 3-4 spots/landings you can get onto the lake basically one from each direction North, South, East, & West. The lake is only 146 acres, but 355 ft at deepest. I went there about 1.5-2 weeks ago & there wasn’t a spec of ice on the lake. I believe there are a lot of springs in this lake, so you may want to call someone closer or if a park ranger is on duty maybe he can tell you ice conditions.

Already have…… I’ve watched just about every youtube video & read a lot of info for it & none state whether or not it has those features. I just downloaded the app & that basically shows or says nothing, other than the basic stuff that everyone knows or gets by watching Ice forces 3 minute video. I looked at the guide on Marcums website says nothing, they don’t have a owners manual available for download on their site either. So it seems other than personally using the system a person is still cluesless as to whether it can read depth, temp, or direction. Although based on its price I am going to say it can’t.

I’d love to get one & pair it with a RT-9. Do they read depth, temp, & direction?

I see that the modular camera is an additional $549, kind of crazy for just the camera itself…. What about the pack/carrying case does it come with a carrying pouch that is detachable like on the LX-9?

How does the Navionics feature work on it? Seeing it has an android platform can you just purchase Navionics on the Google Play store or do you need to purchase a SD card/chip or the software for a PC?

I’m not trying to bash anyone here or make a bad rep, but I sent an email like 4 days ago & never received a response although I believe that was before the website was updated, so not sure if that affected things. Also called & left a voicemail on friday, with the # listed on their FB page & haven’t heard anything back yet either. TUCR thank you for the response I appreciate it.

So seeing it is a full touch screen does it work with gloves on? Or would a guy have to remove his gloves to flip through menus/features?

Last year I also stopped at various bait shops, guides, & bars that surround the lake/spot I was fishing, still with no luck.

    Thanks Joel!

StinkyCat I had stuff posted mostly year round & looked for it immediately the next day & couldn’t find it, then posted immediately. I had postings on various forum sites including this one, also all surrounding cities on Craigslist with no response. Now as the ice season is nearing again I became more involved with in-depth forums & noticed they have made updates to their website & couldn’t find my old posting to recirculate it, so I created a new one in hopes that someone is generous enough to return it before I go out & buy new things.

Is there another forum section for Pete & Rock, cuz it’s showing up on my end? I get to it by going to Fishing Forum > Wisconsin Lakes & Rivers > Castle Rock & Petenwell Forum. It’s showing up as the latest/top post on my end…?

Nope, no luck yet. I already added it to that group at the same time I added it to the Ice Fishing forum.

Thank you everyone for your input. I believe LundProAngler is correct, because there are 3 hoses coming out of the black grommet on my friends augers & one still has the ventilation socket on it. I think the hose is just barely poking through the black grommet & isn’t visible while looking into the tank.

Yup I tried new gas & plug. It definitely isn’t a ethanol problem, because I run 93 octane non-ethanol gas through my auger. My gas is bought during winter months & premixed at 56:1 using Amsoil Saber Professional with sea foam and sta-bil added to each new mixture. I run it at this mix because it appears to be the richest mix without having excess oil run out of the muffler.

I’m going to go ahead & say the rings r bad. I pulled it over about.5 times & got a reading 95 psi. After adding oil to the cylinder it jumped to just under 105 psi. After getting it all back together, it fired & ran for about 1.5 seconds, then consecutively almost fired, but wouldn’t run. I held down the throttle & again it ran for about 1.5 seconds. I’m guessing the rings r shot & it isn’t able to hold compression.

Some Mills Fleet Farms sell it, some ACE Hardwares sell, otherwise if you go to their website AMS OIL you can now purchase it online. Or you can also search for a dealer near you.

Great topic to bring up, this is what I usually do when mixing up gas for my Solo Lazer. IMO Depending on your area/where you live you’ll want to buy your Highest Octane non-ethanol gas (usually 93 or 95) between the months of November-March, as this is when most gas station switch to a winter blend & this is what Strikemaster tunes their carbs for from the factory. Depending on what kind of pump your are getting your gas from (such as a pump that has individual hoses/nozzles for each grade or one that has one hose/nozzle for all the grades) I usually pump 1-2 gallons in my car first for the Pumps that have separate hoses/nozzles for each grade, & 2-3 gallon for the ones that have one hose/nozzle, then I will pump the one gallon into my gas can. This helps ensure you are getting the grade you want, not what is left in the hose. Also for my mix, I have tinkered with it for a while & figured out the least amount of oil it required in order to prevent it from running out the muffler & that I found to be at a 58:1 mix (2.21 oz oil). I feel very comfortable at this mix because I feel I have enough for lubricant, but not so much that the excess is running out the muffler. Also I use AMS OIL Saber Pro Smokeless, so there is no smoke at this ratio either. Here is my concoction in shorthand.

Single hose Pump: 2-3 gal in car
Individual hose pump: 1-2 gal in car

    Mix 58:1:
    – 1 gal of non-ethanol Premium gas (93-95 octane)
    – 2.21 oz or 65.36 ml/cc of AMS OIL Saber Pro Smokless
    – 0.44 oz or 13 ml/cc of STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer
    – 2.0 oz or 59.15 ml/cc of Sea Foam

At the end of the season I ensure that I have around at least a 1/2 tank in my auger so that I am able to start it & run it once a month in the off season. I have found this mix to run awesome in my Solo Lazer.

also Beaver dam lube is good down to -42 degrees Fahrenheit & Frabill subzero is good down to -60 degrees Fahrenheit, both should be available at your local Fleet Farm or Gander mtn

I used to use Frabill Subzero lubricant, it is a white color. Now I use Beaver Dam No-Freeze lubricant, which is clear. Both work great, I like the Beaver dam lube better because when you fold up or open your flip over completely a little bit of the lubricant gets on you canvas. If you like your stuff looking cosmetically good like me, then using the beaver dam lube you don’t even notice it’s there.

Do you ever fish Big Lake near Mather, WI? A buddy & I have been looking for some decent places to ice fish around the area. We tried Potters flowage, Indian Creek, Sherwood lake, Mead Lake & Petenwell this season. Most lakes we only caught a lot of small panfish & snake northern. Caught some smaller walleye on Petenwell, but it was a slow day.

We live in between Pittsville, WI & City Point, WI. I could easily just go in the back yard & catch 15″-16″ crappie, 9-10″ bluegill, and jumbo perch, but we are looking for new lakes to try. We like figuring lakes out & fishing different structures/lakes. We are going to give Big lake a try tomorrow, then maybe Sprague flowage depending on how we do; PM me if you want or have any advice.

    Thanks,
    Brad

I go out of JR’s Corner just down the road from Rogers. You can look up his website. I fish quite close to shore most of the time so you should have no problem walking to good fish. I bet you could drive your car out there too.

He might have an ice house available for you to sleep in? It’s worth a check anyhow. Good luck.

I just called JR’s & he said that he was full.

russell’s bait shop in town has maps that have the cribs marked on them for sale cheap. silver and green slender spoons work great there.

Is that the ticket for eyes? I have thrown a tacklebox full of lures down to catch an eye out there with nothing but a 7″ to show for it in about 7 or 8 years of trying! Had good luck one summer out there and have failed miserably since, on hard and soft water. Anybody lookin for someone to make a trip or two up there gimme a shout!

us River Falls guys should hit it in full force one day

I totally agree. That would be awesome, with all of us we should be able to target some fish.

Yea I was using walleye suckers as well. Guess I will have to give the Green/Silver slender spoon a try next time I go.

@wannabefishing I wouldn’t mind giving Cedar another try. I only have my car & one man here in RF right now, because I haven’t been back home since thanksgiving. I have everything here except my 2 man Otter tho: rods, Jigs, hand & power auger, & Snosuit.

I carried two poles with me at all times, and dropped both baits down every hole. I first dropped the slender spoon down, if nothing committed after a while then I dropped the one with the Fiska down to see if they were just perch or bluegill.

were you on any of the cribs?

No I was unaware that there were any? I was using both my Sportsman Connection Lake Map book & Navionics app to navigate around the lake. A friend referred the lake to me, so I decided to give it a try. PM me if you’d like to give me a few pointers about the lake & don’t want everyone else knowing. Thanks
