Thanks for all of your helpful ideas! The guy had put in a generator for our next door neighbor. My neighbor said he did a good job. However, after he came out and scoped things out, he never called me back! I tried to reach him by phone and by email, but no reply. So, I agree with Mark-Bruzek too. We are without power around 6 hours to 24 to a few days. I like mxskeeter’s idea of a decorative stove. With solar though, I’ve heard I pay little to nothing for electric since I’d be getting it from the solar panels. I’ll have to check out that link BackwaterICE suggested.

My store has had plenty of PT & TP for quite awhile now including the good stuff. Although, no luck finding Clorox wipes or Clean Shower – I shop late morning.

Thanks to the person that suggested Milorganite. Sorry, I don’t have your handle at the moment. I went to the Milorganite website and found a post by Joe Lamp1 on milorganite.com/blog/garden-landscape/deer-control who summed up my concerns. He states that although deer control isn’t listed on the Milorganite bag, it works for him and keeps them from snacking and rutting his trees. I believe this is worth a shot at around $18.00 a bag since I’m not allowed to shoot them! Just thought I’d post this idea if anyone else is being overrun with deer. It’s a real problem around here!

Yeah but you got up off your … and mowed the lawn instead of licking you’re wounds.

Wow! You mowed the lawn 4 days after surgery! Starting the mower left handed might work for me. Thanks for idea. Glad your surgery was a success!

Last year an MRI at a different place revealed a complete tear of the distal supraspinatus. These tears are unlikely to heal, but it’s a slim possibility. Last week, I sam my doctor and showed him how well I’m moving. I said I’d like an MRI to determine the status of the tear before I attempt to start the lawn mower myself. However, the last MRI I got was verynoisy. I said to him, I’m mowing a very bumpy yard, lifting electric hedge trimmers over my head (I know that’s dangerous. Will prune them shorter.), etc. So, before I yank on that lawn mower cord, I and my doctor need to know what’s going on with the tear. I just need a comparison is an open MRI as noisy as a closed MRI? Yes, I will wear those little pink earplugs along with their headphones.

Re: medical alert question. The monitoring system I mentioned in my last post was from Guardian. They offered the wrist band you could wear everywhere and receiver that sat on a table. Guardianalarm.com, 800-782-9688, Corporate HQ, 18000 Eight Mile Rd., Southfield, MI ; guardianmedicalmonitoring.com 877-435-7225. This company was recommended to me by a specialty drug store that had not only a pharmacy but also medical equipment, but didn’t carry medical monitoring systems. So, if you have this type of drug store near you, you could ask them about monitoring equipment.

@primitive I’m glad you are better. There’s a system where you wear a device on your wrist that looks like a watch. This device enables an emergency service to hear you if you need help by way of a device that sits on a table or shelf. I got this for my mom. This was a life saver because she later fell in the next room away from the device on the table, but the emergency service heard her yelling for help even though she was in another room. I don’t remember if she had to push a button on the wrist device. They had to break down the door to get into the house. The system did interfere with the phone as I could not get through on the phone (landline) to call her. When I finally got through, they told me she had fallen. I don’t have the name of the device, but will look that up in my records and let you know. This was about 8 years ago so they might not still be around anyway, but there are probably similar systems. You can also test the system by talking from another room to see if they can hear you periodically.

My backyard is about 1/2 acre in the city in a very populated area. However, our backyard along with our neighbors back up to a land locked area maybe the size of 2 football fields. I believe they ate all the big leaves off my strawberry plants in pots last year which I have sitting on lawn chairs close to house on my back porch. We also have raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, mice, and the occassional red tailed fox! Thanks!

I don’t understand toilet paper hoarding either. However, since everyone else is buying it, maybe I’d better go get some too!🤔🤣
