Ive used this Rem 700 mountain in .270 with ultra core lok 140gr. for the last 7 years.http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire/model-700/model-700-mountain-lss.aspx
Mine is the older version with the walnut stock. I love it. One well placed shot is all thats needed. The .270 is fast and flat. I saw you mentioned 4x14x44. Leupold IMHO its perfect. Thats whats on top of mine. I would never part with this Rifle. I have a safe full and This one never gets left home on any trip. I might bring another but this one goes with me every time. Its light, easy to handle in a tree stand and you can carry it all day an not get tired.
Just see what retailer has one and hold the regular 700 and then hold the mountain rifle. I think you would like it. 2 of my friends purchase one after I let them shoot it. I know some guys would say the .270 is too small but I dont think so. the core-lok ultra ammo is not cheap but the weight retention long range is awesome. Have a great season!

    Im the owner of 3 Glocks. G17L, G17gen4, and a G20 10mm.
If you choose to go with the Glock I would say the gen3’s are easier to shoot. The trigger on my gen4 9mm is alot different. Glocks are really easy to work on. Both weapons are built very well. Ifs all about how it fits and feels tho. Ive had a 19 and sold it because it just felt too small. Good luck!

You back up fast and look for a weapon in their hand alway protecting the side you carry on. Keeping distance, if they come at you then you make the decision. RUN IF YOU CAN! Using your weapon or yelling you have one is the last this to do here. Yell for help first LOUDLY. Shooting someone is not something you want to live with the rest of your life. If you can get away, run. If you make the decision to draw your weapon be prepared for what comes next. A lot of bad guys are not going run but if they do great. That does not mean your not going to be questioned by police. I’ve carried every day since 2004 and worked security, not one time have I ever had to draw my weapon or tell someone I have one. And yes I’ve been in those situations. On the corner of lake st and lyndale at 2am. I hope no one ever has to experience anything like what your describing but being aware of your surrounding at all times and carrying yourself in away that looks like you know how to handle yourself goes along way. If you have to draw your weapon and use it you better had about $50,000 in the bank ready for the aftermath. I prey none of you would ever have to make this split second decision. You or someone else’s life and family will de affected for ever. Please take a CCW coarse from a good, reputable company or person and read a lot on the legal right to carry.

I wrote this this way to make people understand that it a HUGE responsibility carrying every day and should not be taken lightly. God forbid any of us had to use it to save the life of a family member or our own.

Some real good info here guys thanks for all the opinions and thoughts. I’ve gone back and forth with using my harness. Sometimes do and sometimes don’t . I think being comfortable is important but being safe is better. I’ll be shopping for a new one for this coming season. Muddy is looking pretty good.

I hunted the morning and saw nothing. I came home and ran my dogs down to the dog park thats a mile away and saw 5 deer and Mr.Coyote right behind them. Very cool. I yelp at him and he stopped and took a different angle giving up on the chase. I just shook my head. Its the 6th coyote I’ve seen in city limits this year so far.
