Looks like a great time. Hopefully this cold front coming in doesn’t change the patterns to much. I commend you for getting the kids on the ice. It always seems you add to the preparation time but can a lot of fun watching your kids catch fish.

After a few hours of playing with it on my couch it seems they’ve added and ice fishing demo mode (think that’s new) and the sonar modes have been relabeled gain 1 and gain 2 (not sure what that means)
Has anyone figured out what Gain 1 & Gain 2 are? I called my local Pro Staffer but he seems to be busy with the SBC open house.
April 26, 2016 at 11:07 am #1615732Thanks for the tip TripleA, I can’t wait to get this thing all mounted and ready to roll!
April 25, 2016 at 6:17 pm #1615616This one is actually going on a 1650 Fishhawk. We hat do you mean by the tip down bracket reversed?
April 24, 2016 at 2:46 pm #1615380Thanks TripleA! We just ordered a 12 footer from them! They were cheaper on all the accessories also! I can’t wait to put it to use!
January 21, 2015 at 5:57 pm #1500758You boys aren’t alone. My LX-5 is back for service for the second time. They received the unit from UPS last Thursday morning and I just found out today that I will not have it back by the weekend. So they cost me 2 weekends of fishing. Not a happy camper at all!
January 11, 2015 at 8:30 am #1495497You will not meet anyone who babies their gear mite that I do. So that is not the problem. I wish it was that simple.
October 1, 2014 at 4:33 pm #1459977Alright I’m stepping out of the stoneage and planning on retiring the schooleys that have treated me so well over the years for a rod and reel. Bought a marcum last year and looking forward to chasing slab crappies. I fish almost exclusively on backwaters of rivers in iowa. Usually after crappies and gills but throw in the occasional bass and walleye. What rigs would you guys suggest?
Another TUCR guy here but I have another option for you. The Precision Noodle as an amazing rod, but if you are more of a feel rod kind of guy check out the Quick Tip! It has a slightly heavier tip than the noodle and gets into the backbone sooner, but has way more sensitivity. I got my first Quick Tip part way through last ice season and love it!
I would give the boys at Tuned up a shout and they will get you all setup.
February 17, 2014 at 3:15 pm #1389380From my use of the new firmware, I am very impressed. There is no flickering and all the features are running great.
Marcum is a great company to work with if anything comes up, I am confident that you will be more than happy with your new toy!
February 17, 2014 at 10:55 am #1389299I have a lot of time on my LX 6 so far this season. I have really come to rely on the adjustable display. I like the ability to show history on the chart view and the vertical full water and zoom bar have become a go to for me.
If you have any questions be sure to ask them, one of us will have the answers for you!

I just got my Otter medium box and I’m not seeing a way to attach it to my Polaris sportsman XP 550 rear rack. It came with 4 U bolts but those don’t seem like they will work. What am I missing?
Do you have the Plastic rack with the speed mounts? (1 inch diameter holes designed for Polaris accessories?)
My Sportsman has that so what I did was picked up 4 of the Polaris long anchors and mounted them into my otter box and all is well. Once the anchors are tightened the box isn’t moving.
January 9, 2014 at 11:17 am #1378563In the first picture is the canvas around the outside of the sled corner? It kind of looks like it could be pulled to the outside of the corner which would eliminate a gap in that area!
Also where is the gap in the last picture located on the sled? Like Grant said you should be able to slide the pieces around until you eliminate all air gaps.
January 7, 2014 at 2:07 pm #1377867I would give the boys at Tuned Up a call. I am sure they would be happy to help you out with anything.
That handle does look really cool. I have all of mine made 4 inch straight cork handles. I really like them!
January 7, 2014 at 8:50 am #1377771I picked up a Quick Tip this fall. I have never been a feel rod guy, but I love this rod! I have been using it primarily as a crappie setup and am very impressed.
The Quick Tip is even more sensitive than I Imagined, I can feel the super light bites and also an up bite. I was shocked the first time I could actually feel a crappie lift the jig, but it has been my go to crappie rod.
If you have any other questions please let me know!
January 3, 2014 at 7:21 pm #1376592Here is a picture from last weekend. This is my LX 6, how do the colors compare to yours? As you can see I am running the R O Y G B I V color palette.
January 3, 2014 at 7:02 pm #1376588If you are concerned about the display colors on your unit I would go into a store that has both the 6 and 7 and compare them. Like was mentioned before make sure you are using the R O Y G B I V color palette. You will see you senestivity setting drop as you will be taking the best advantage of the units display abilities. Also the LX 6 & LX 7 have differant gain curves there for they will run differant sensitivity setting even in the exact same conditions.
See if you can post some pictures of the display and let us look.
December 10, 2013 at 5:37 am #1370189You are going to hear both side of that one. I am sure over a short time you would be fine leaving the terminals hooked up. Personally i unhook my flashers when they are done charging. But I do rehook them once I am loading them up to go to the lake. This saves me having to do it once I am on the ice.
December 1, 2013 at 8:05 pm #1367953I was over in Polk county this weekend chasing deer and they are definatly on the ice over there. I heard Yellow was really going good so far this season
November 25, 2013 at 11:17 am #1366517Drove down to the landing this morning to check out the ice and I am very impressed! Looks like a couple inches of solid clear ice! As long as everyone keeps their heads and doesn’t do something to tip off the lady folks that cold water is bad for a guy, we may be out there this weekend!
A general piece of advice, make sure to keep an eye on the ice as it is freezing up. in the 2nd pic you can see our friendly flock of Geese causing a possible bad spot once we do get out there.

While trying to put a boat in the water today, I managed to find two ramps froze up before I gave up the search. It wasn’t walking ice but with the temps in the forecast for the next week, I don’t think it will be long before I can get out there.
These pictures are from the north west side of Lake Wissota. Any other Wisconsin ice been spotted?
I was driving around town yesterday and noticed the pond here in Bloomer is iced over also. Of course a flock of geese was on the north end by the apartments. So that area will take a little while longer before I completely trust it! It won’t be long now!
November 10, 2013 at 12:03 am #1204964I have to agree on the Otter vote. After fishing clam shacks for a few year I bought an Otter Wild Cabin and couldn’t have loved it any more! This year I upgraded to one of the XT1200 Cabins and that thing is practically bullet proof.
No matter which shack you go with put a runner kit on it if your are going to be pulling it a lot. The small investment is well worth protecting the sled.

If you want to feel the bite- Quicktip.
If you want to watch the bite at the rod tip- Noodle.Either way you can’t go wrong. Just depends on the how you like to fish.
He is right on. The best thing you can do is give Adam at Tuned up a call. He will be able to get you into the perfect rod and length for you!

In the future I will be upgrading augers, I want to stick with a lite auger and this sounds like the real deal. But why don’t they offer it with a six inch bit? I already have a 6in Sm bit and would love to run it on this power head and go to town but they aren’t available.
All of the Lazer drills can be put on Strikemaster powerheads.
I run a 6″ drill for panfish, 8″ for walleyes, and the 10″ drill for Lake Winnipeg….All 3 of these drills will fit my Honda 4 stroke motor. Purchase a Honda/8″ combo and you will have the best of both worlds when changing from panfish to walleyes. Or simply sell the 8″ lazer drill.
I just did exactly what Cal recommended. I picked up one of the 8 inch Honda Strikemasters and I couldn’t be happier. That it so easy to start and quiet, no more yelling over the auger when your fishing partner isn’t behaving!

Baffin is what I have now and don’t even plan to look elsewhere when and if I ever need new ones. Probably the warmest boot you’ll find.
Moisture wicking socks with a medium weight wool sock are mandatory for any PAC boot.
I couldn’t agree more. I bought a pair last season and I love them. the are light enough you can hole hop all day but still plenty warm!
October 14, 2013 at 12:23 pm #1200149I ended up on a Large Mouth bite late in the ice season last year with the updated drag system and on 2 lb test it handled flawlessly. The Teardrops and 6061’s have that drag system and feel great in the time I have used them so far this fall.
October 10, 2013 at 5:47 pm #1199555I fished 2 of the 6061’s last season and I felt like they were a lot more productive. I like to fish Florocarbon and I saved a lot of time with just line managment. I noticed that I was always correcting line twist when i did use a spinning reel so for me the straight line reels were a huge bonus.

Anyone know if there are differences between this year’s BB 6061 and last years BB 6061 besides the colors? Any improvements?
This years 6061 is a lot tighter than last years they also have an upgraded drag. I played with the new drag last winter and it made a huge differance.
