I’m heading to resort named PipeStone Point. There is going to be plenty of walleye riggin done…that’s nothin new for me. (Alway’s looking for new ideas though).
But here is the deal…
I understand there is great oppertunities this time of year for Muskie’s.
I have a friend that I can borrow gear from…but I have never cast for one of the beasts before. I hope to get some insight on this before I go.May 28, 2005 at 1:59 pm #365244Trouble at work…so here I sit.
Hopefully I’ll use your advice on Monday morning!
Thanks…
I’m always looking to share ideas concerning this area.

My 12 year old son has fallen in love with golf….a good thing!! So, I have been getting my fair share of par 3 golf courses lately.

Sandbar…
Sorry to hear of the family crisis you are going thru!! The main thing to do in times like these are to stay focused. As you said, he is only 12. He can be saved. If you stay the course, he can be pulled back from the dark side.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.(Maybe a new St. Croix or a Fennwick under the pillow will help.)
June 24, 2004 at 9:20 pm #309927I’ve had enough as well…even though I live in Hastings, I’ve always used Prescott. After a tought time, I used Hastings last week.
I’ll never go back to the P city launch!!I also use Bluff’s park (Control Data for the old timers), it’s great…but a little far north for my boat.
May 26, 2004 at 2:53 pm #306254I’m going to miss out…but I hear good things about the wing dams just below Prescott. Crank Baits.
May 25, 2004 at 2:15 pm #306058sandbar~ yup, me in the camo. Are you going to try and brave it this weekend? I’m thinking I’m out of comission for a while.
May 24, 2004 at 9:07 pm #305942and by the way…
Who was it that passed me on the way to the Kinni? I have the feeling it was either Suzuki or Sandbar…am I right?May 24, 2004 at 8:08 pm #305931Sat morning in the kinni…
We picked up 2 nice ones on leeches. Both came north of the kinni. (18″ and 20″). We also caught a 17″ small mouth while trolling our way thru the narrows. (We were 1st at the landing and second to go thru the narrows.)
We headed down and tried a few spots on the way back. Nothing, none on the graph either. Pulled out at 10:00am. Wife was happy.May 21, 2004 at 9:33 pm #305689I belive this is called tricanoisis…it’s common in trout. (Also pigs.)
May 18, 2004 at 6:33 pm #305245Thank you so much. I’ll try again. It’s hard to accept defeat!
Let me know if you ever come thru the dam (north to Prescott). Perhaps I can repay the favor. I usually know of a few certian wing dams.May 18, 2004 at 2:53 pm #305197Another question…
Does any one use a 3-way swivel / with weight or bottom bouncer type rig ahead of the crank to increase depth? Will this work or does it limit the action of the crank bait?Last question…Big Dad, Sir,
I read your reports and headed to Covell landing last Friday (as I wrote in a different post). I got my azz handed to me. Was I lost? I primarily fish the sides of the channel south of Covell. From the Green marker / cut thru, down to the bouyes that lead into the lake itself.May 17, 2004 at 2:55 pm #305036You are not alone my friend…I had read the reports and headed to Covell landing on Friday morning. It sounded as easy as falling out of the boat.
We stumbled around trying to find fish on the graf. We tried wally divers and raps along the bouys, we tried jig minnow in current breaks, we tried to find fish by going thru what was labled fisherman’s cut.
After 6hrs of nothing we put the boat on the trailer and went to the Croix…I just wanted to get some eaters.
We did pick up a few there. The worst part of the morning was seeing the fish come out of the live wells of other boats at the landing at Covell…I mean good for them, but geeze…I felt about 2″ under the 15″ limit myself.
May 13, 2004 at 8:28 pm #304677I’m always looking for some honest exchange…I’ll be sure to return the favor in the future!
May 13, 2004 at 7:15 pm #304664Thnx!
Can I bug you for any advice? First timer south of Red Wing but north of the big water.May 13, 2004 at 6:43 pm #304659If your not in a huge hurry, I recommend taking 61 up next to the river. You can take it all the way to north of Hastings where you can then hit 95. Scenery is great! And it only takes a bit longer.
